Solar Dehydrator continued

It does take time, so you most probrably will have issues with an abundance of produce that will build up and then a lack of drying space. This means trying to carefully plan your succession planting dates and/or building enough dehydrators to accomodate peak season.

It is possible to dry some meat in them, and some people have tried seafood. It all depends upon the style you use, the intensity of the heat, and the thinness of the drying material. It will alter the taste, but in a post-collapse, you'll be glad to have nutritious food that preserves many of the vitamins and minerals regardless.

The upside-side is a lot of produce can be stored in a smaller space with less containers. The down-side is more hydrating time which extends total cooking time and more water is needed.
