For some time I've been trying to raise the alarm concerning the severe drought we've been experiencing since 2010. Here's a good short article which summarizes the issue.

They left out a couple a things. Agronomy is not the forte of Rolling Stone.
In addition to the article, realize that soil is alive, not some sterile medium in which to grow crops. It contains thriving bacteria rich species which work in a symbiotic way to not only fix nitrogen in the soil, but also to break down nutrients, allow the soil to change over time from clay into loam as things decay and build up.
That soil is alive with many species of insects and worms which do jobs that allow root formation to occur better. Many times an insect will attack, but often they attack weaker plants first. Not all insects are bad, but often are a gardener or a farmer's friends, for they might eat a pest or help prevent a pest from growing out of control.
Not only do trees bring up water, but they foster micro-environments by the creation of transition zones due to shade, but also bring up water in more abundance, and this allows shrubs, herbs, mosses,fungi etc to live. All of that provides glades and "hollers (wonderous valley places mostly with trees and shade and hunting and trapping and romancing in my native state of Kentucky) for us as gifts, presents to our souls.
The Great Drought that we're experiencing is changing the traffic patterns of barges upon the Mississippi. Big deal? YES IT IS!. Those barges are the equivalent of scores of diesel burning trucks. To move the same shipments will serious change fuel prices, ramp up costs to items by more transportation costs, could change the supply chain and create delays.
If the Drought continues, if there's an issue with collapse, then how will you raise crops, livestock, find enough water to drink? The first plants to die are the shallow root potherbs and medicinal herbs, both of which are essential to a prepper.
The Drought is the most important issue right now in America, with the Economy as the next most important issue.
For many of you, the drought inside your souls is the main-most important personal issue. Maybe you've had a lot of bad experiences with God. Maybe you've never encountered God. Why not try once again?
Look back and read my words about being called by God. Is there anything that's impeding you in being called. It's not the sin that blocks us from the Source. The Source of All Life knows your failings. God knows you more than your parents ever did. God knows how many hairs are on your head. Of course God knows that you've made mistakes. Perhaps only the fear of those mistakes and them becoming known is blocking your relationship.
We are failable beings. And yet, when one among us who we know so well, if they come to us and say, "I messed up. I failed you. I hurt you. I'm sorry. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?" Who can say no? I couldn't refuse. I doubt that God can refuse, for God is the Source of Forgiveness. Try again.
As important as we are, besides the fact that God knew us before the Sun shone, we are comprised of single indiviuals on one lonely planet in the vast galaxies of the entire Universe. It's possible that there are multiverses of of Universes: endless perpetual infinite Universes. Do you think, for one moment that your sin is so great that in all of that vastness, that God is so angry as to focus solely on your wickedness. I doubt it.
Instead, there are wonderous things that YOU are supposed to be doing instead of concentrating upon your sin. Come now and close your eyes and ask for forgiveness, like I taught you. Then ask to be found and called by God, and invite God into your whole being.
There's so much to do now, don't let this vital aspect stop you from embracing Life.
How much greater will be the capacity of Love in your soul? If God is the Source of All Love for All Time and in All Places, then let that fill up the drought in your soul. Let that empty dried up place be awash in the magnificent Perfect Love of God.
