Reading about prepping is NOT knowing how to prep

A lot of people enjoy reading prepper material. The goal is to disseminate ancestral skills and then put them in practice. If you're reading my posts for entertainment, then you'll die in a collapse. It's not enough to know theoretically how to gather wild edibles or MacGuyver something, you have to try doing it.

If you're just being a reader and not a doer, then STOP, for you are wasting your time. I'm only a resource for you. Don't be passive, but try to actually do some things to help your family instead.

Likewise regarding spiritual matters, if you feel moved to become a Christian, stop fooling around, but go to church, see a pastor, and get baptized.

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22

Satan desires for you to delay, to consider, to think upon these things, rather than prepping or being baptized. The longer you delay, the better it is for the Evil One.

Don't let the Lord of Darkness steal your victory in Jesus Christ.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
Repair your relationship with Jesus

There are a ton of Christians praying for the Second Coming of Yeshua. You should know that when Yeshua comes again, it will be a fearful day. He will come in judgement.
"Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen." The Revelation to John 1:7

All people will mourn! Don't think that you will not mourn, for it says ALL PEOPLE.

Do not wish for it to come soon. There are many who might yet be saved by the power of the Name of Jesus. We have an enormous amount of work in Christian missions to spread the Gospel. Don't pray constantly for judgement, for I can tell you that when you face Jesus in judgement for the sins you have NOT asked forgiveness for, then that will cause such terror in your hearts!

Instead, now TODAY, search your hearts(souls) and intentionally think,"Is there any secret sin which I am so ashamed of that I haven't asked God for forgiveness?" If so, then STOP, immediately ask for forgiveness, be contrite and sin no more. Stop damaging your relationship with Jesus.

Otherwise when the Judgement comes, and you face the eyes of Yeshua, the only Begotten SON OF GOD, the Creator of galaxies, then it won't be a mild mannered gentle man from Galilee, but the ALL POWERFUL ONE. It would be better to be God fearing than to reduce the power of God into a little pleasant box that you pull out on Sunday for an hour and a half.

If you're not respecting God, then your lack of relationship with God is damaging you. It is the ultimate self-sabotage.

"9Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser,
Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.

10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding
.

11For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.

12If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,
And if you scoff, you alone will bear it."
Proverbs 9: 9-12

That word in verse 10 in Hebrew is yirat.
[link to biblesuite.com]
It means a DEEP RESPECT of YHWH which invokes fear.

Meditate upon this.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
A very simple method of tapping a maple tree using simple hardware. Why not at least try it, and let your children help, and then cook it down? By doing this, you allow them to learn, have a good family experience, and also delicous real maple syrup versus corn syrup. That's right, the artifical maple syrup you're eating is one of the most toxic substances known to Man.

Remember undersize the bore hole with a smaller than needed drill. Otherwise, you won't get a tight fitting. Think, "Hmmm a handdrill would be a very useful thing to have post-collapse, wouldn't it?"

Very very simple and clear instructions. You need to check that the maple sap is rising based upon the average normal time for your region. They usually will mention it locally in the newspaper.

NOTE: A regular spile can be purchased at a farm supply. These are made to remove, which is far better that the first video's method. The spile has a hook on it for hanging a bucket too. The benefit of his method in the first video is that the maple directly goes into a container and there's little chance of contamination versus the standard open spiles.

[link to www.google.com]

You can of course, make one. See previous postings.

It takes awhile to boil down sap but this is beneficial for it adds a wonderful aroma to your home as well as needed humidity in Winter too.

For a delicious change, add some corn meal and/or wheat germ to your homemade pancakes. This is SO MUCH more delicious than what you're used to eating. It also way boosts the nutrition too.

By the way, if you had some dead wood branches comes down with the windstorm, don't forget you'll need to plant peas soon, and those branches work well for pea brush.
[link to veggiegardenblog.blogspot.com]
[link to gardentherapy.ca]

This is a very good way to train the pea tendrils to cling to what would be waste wood. It's an old school method.

Try sugar snap peas so you can eat the pea pods and so boost the nutrition. Picking frequently causes a much higher yield with this method, so you can add them to salads as well as sandwiches and stir fry too.

Peas are traditionally the first to be planted once frost allows it, and are very simple crops. Listen to what he says. He's discussing succession planting. Don't plant all your peas on the same day, but spread it out. By doing so, you extend the harvest and also make it easier to harvest them as you need them in the kitchen. This makes far more sense.

[link to www.the-compost-gardener.com]
The great benefit to growing peas besides the early harvest, the beautiful flowers, the whole delicious pea pod, the ease for a beginner gardener, is that peas are legumes and they fix nitrogen in the soil, and so you're making your soil better each time you do this.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
How to confess your sins and be forgiven of your past.

Many of us say general confessions of sins and prayers of forgivenss. I urge you to actually read this list and check off the ones you have done, and write down how you sinned briefly, and then to carefully pray to be forgive for that sin, then stop doing it.

[link to www.wogim.org]

Our sins are numerous. We forget what we did. We make excuses. We brush off our sins and ignore them.

Stop doing that. This is the most important prep you can do for you and your family. Teach them how to confess their sins and to ask Jesus for forgiveness. Then having been cleansed by His blood on the cross, then you may breathe and feel relief from those burdens. It is far better to do this, than to say a general quick one minute prayer.

For especially notorious sins, many times to help us deal with it, if you trust a pastor very much, then not only asking for him to pray with you, but also asking to do some good deed as well, so you will not only be forgiven but also pay back God for your sins.

This is very empowering, for then instead of focusing upon your forgiven sin, as Satan wishes to remind you over and over, instead having given your sins and laying them at the foot of God's Throne, then you can feel the enormous connection of God's forgiveness, and boldly ask for God's Presence in your life. Then there's no shame, only love and unity.
[link to www.new-testament-christian.com]
Psalm 51 is very powerful and is one way to pray during the forgiveness.

Psalm 51, "Be gracious to me, oh God, according to they loving kindness, according to the greatness of thy compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, for I know my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only I have sinned and done what is evil in thy sight so that thou art justified when thou doest speak and blameless when thou doest judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity and in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, thou doest desire truth in the innermost being and in the hidden part, thou wilt make me no wisdom. Purify me with hyssop and I shall be clean. Wash me and I shall be whiter then snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness. Let the bones which thou has broken rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from they presence and do not take thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of thy salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors thy ways and sinners will be converted to thee. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, oh God, thou God of my salvation. Then my tongue will joyfully sing of thy righteousness. Oh, Lord, open my lips that my mouth may declare thy praise for thou doest not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it. Thou art not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart, oh God, thou wilt not despise. By thy favor do good to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then thou wilt delight in righteous sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offering. Then young bulls will be offered on thine altar."

Remember, always pray in Jesus' Name at the end of your prayers.

Iron overdose in children

Because I just posted something related on another topic, I wanted to post a potential danger for parents to watch for. Many of you have children, and so you probably give your little ones children's chewable vitamins. You should know that iron overdose is a major concern as it's the most likely cause of toxicity in kids under 6. They associate the vitamin as candy, so always place them out of reach and NOT on the breakfast table.

[link to emedicine.medscape.com]
"Iron overdose has been one of the leading causes of death caused by toxicological agents in children younger than 6 years. Iron is used as a pediatric or prenatal vitamin supplement and for treatment of anemia. Iron is particularly tempting to young children because it appears similar to candy. Patients with anemias that require frequent blood transfusions also are at risk for developing chronic iron toxicity."

If your child is a hemophiliac, then because they take blood products, then you have to be very careful about their iron levels because they can get iron overload easily. That fact is discussed over and over in grad school, but can be forgetten in an emergency as people are scurrying around trying to figure out what's going on with a medically fragile child's dying on them.

If your child suddenly gets very hyperactive when it's not their normal behavior, quickly look and see if they ate a whole bottle of vitamins and RUSH them to the hospital with the container so they can give an antidote. Taking the container, they can estimate the amount ingested and dosage.

"Falstaff: To die is to be a counterfeit, for he is but the counterfeit of a man who hath not the life of a man; but to counterfeit dying, when a man thereby liveth, is to be no counterfeit, but the true and perfect image of life indeed. The better part of valor is discretion, in the which better part I have sav'd my life."
Henry The Fourth, Part 1 Act 5, scene 4, 115–121

Be discreet. It's the prepper's motto. It makes no sense to reveal personal details in an internet forum, especially regarding your supplies, your location, your weaponry, etc.

A shill could come along, incite people to making outrageous statements with chest-thumping, and then sincere but foolish people will chime in their intentions to do unwise things in a public forum. DUMB DUMB DUMB.

Thanks for posting that. A good way is simply to scout rummage sales, at least that works in my region. There are often tools available for 10 % of their cost, mostly because they belonged to someone's grandparents and the current owner doesn't know what they are. This is always the least expensive way to find them. Sometimes you find them online, but they're heavy.

Here you can find a handrill for $15-50 in a hardware store, but check to see that it will hold up. Many are made in China and are poorly fashioned. There's no sense in buying junk tools. Better to buy some antique that only needs some tender loving care and lubrication.

Here's a post detailing what bugging out sheep might do as they assemble into a Horde.

Note the archaic misuse of "Golden Horde" which was an idea created about the fear of Chinese and Japanese immigrants. It's an ugly term, which wasn't true for Asians historically were model immigrants just as the Irish and Italians. It's roots are from the Mongols during medieval times as they scourged Asia and the Middle East, and might have imposed their will upon Europe.

It is however a well done post detailing plausible places they would go.

It's interesting he came to the same conclusions as I did, particularly that Maine would be an excellent place to bugout to. That is of course the contrarian view, but the most logical one based upoon game animals, pure water, salt from the Ocean, woods, meadows, low population density, etc. Upper state Maine is quite sparse of people, and one could easily blend right into the Wild.

"Not long ago I had an interesting conversation with a friend about what would happen after the balloon goes up. He’s a cool guy who moved out here years ago from California because he thinks that at some point a collapse of some kind is going to happen and he didn’t want to get caught flat footed when it did.

He’d thought long and hard about it and decided that Maine was a good choice of a place to live because it’s less likely to be a destination for the golden horde. For the sake of argument I’ll use this definition for golden horde:"

Here's a pretty good vegan post on the difficulties of taking care of themselves while prepping for their family who are meat eaters.
"As I need a diet based on grains and beans and my garden is in the process of being enlarged, I began buying 25 pound bags of winter wheat, oats, buckwheat, white rice and brown rice several varieties of beans including soy beans for soy milk and tofu. I prefer Almond milk but if TEOTWAWKI happens, Almond milk will not be available. In Arkansas, we cannot buy dry ice for treating storage grains and beans. I layered edible DE in about 6 layers in each 5-gallon tub. The amount is 1 cup per 5 gallon bucket. Buckwheat, brown rice, soy beans, and rolled oats are stored in their bags in the deep freeze to prolong their shelf life. If and when TEOTWAWKI happens, I will not be able to keep the oils in those foods from turning rancid after a while. From some of the literature, I have been told 6 months to a year in storage is all I will probably get with those foods."

An old school account of living during WW2 and coping:
[link to seasonedcitizenprepper.com]

"THE CHRONICLES OF HAROLD
1939-1945

The War Years
Just a history in chronicle form of my life, as I have lived it as near as I can remember after all of these years. Preppers and Survivalists along with any other “back to the earth” types may find it interesting. During the scope of this essay, I will chronicle my life as I lived it including all of the oops and other mistakes I have made over the years and what I done to overcome them. I am a 73 year old male, retired and partially disabled (temporary I hope pending a back operation) and since I am tied to a chair and can’t do much else, I have been lurking, surfing and occasionally posting on the blogs when something comes up that piques my interest an I feel obliged to post an opinion, rebuttal, or here’s how I done it back then. You are free to quote from, post or otherwise use this information in the color it is given, as an essay on how I have lived my life so far."

A very well done overall article on survival strategies:
[link to www.survivalblog.com]
"Having spent a lot of years on military planning staffs, I can't help war-gaming scenarios. In short (as you know well) Course of Action (COA) development is a big part of Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) and is a fairly reliable way of looking at possibilities and choosing likely sequels, given scenarios. In effect, a way of war-gaming out the future. There are a number of horror scenarios that seem to me to be fairly probable and they keep going around and around in my head as I try to sequence them and assign probabilities to each one. I am haunted by the possible future, an occupational hazard for a professional planner. I sincerely hope our civilization outlives me because it's failure could be truly horrible."

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
With all the fluff topics lately, I hope y'all are appreciating these posts and applying them. Things are accelerating. As more and more people wake up, more and more supplies are going to purchased. That'll make supplies low and demand high, and that means skyhigh prices. If you're not prepping, only reading this for kicks, you're wasting your time...and mine.

We've seen that now with a HUGE run on guns and ammunition. That's the first wave of prepping. The danger is Joe Blow having that, and no food stocks, for an armed desperate man is no longer a neighbor, but a potential predator.

The situation in North Korea is ramping up. Tensions are high. The North Koreans are desperate, starving, economically destroyed, and yet they have 7x the naval fleet of the South Koreans, twice the tanks, twice the air power, twice the infantry, and they are stone cold hard killers. They are packed into a corner, and invading South Korea is almost a no-lose situtation. For now the USA has a weak president, and South Korea has a lameduck leader. North Korea could easily invade, and that move would have serious repercussions given they have one of the most powerful military forces in the world.

Stop reading garbage, turn off your TV, make very complex strategic plans NOW. Decide precisely how to cope.

The only way the USA can dig out from this Global Depression is WAR. Full SCALE WAR. That means a huge drain on supplies as well and shortages.

For those in the UK and Europe, do some reading about how WW2 affected your grandparents. Ask them about shortages and only making it if they planted gardens and had livestock.

If you can't hunt, fish, and most importantly trap, then how in the world will you get enough food calories to make it? Don't tell me that you'll eat dandelions, because you're talking to a guy that eats wild edibles, and there's no way to get enough calories from leafy greens. It's a long long time until you can harvest cattails, nuts, berries, etc. A lot of animals die during the Winter, and the survivors are lean and hungry. Many are sick and feeble and not suitable for eating.

If you think these posts are valuable, then send me some green karma so I can stay here and keep helping you.

Thread: Pictures of America's youth in the early 20th century when children ran barefott instead of playing X boxes (Page 2)

That's my post in another topic, discussing how my childhood was compared to today's children. I hope you read it. My guess is that many of you had a far different experience, and I'm sad to hear stories of people's struggles and difficulties. I had those too, but much of my life was innocent still.

When the collapse comes, I hope to make a new world, one that's full of safety and security for all children. We've lost a lot this century. There have been enormous technical achievments, but we've become very cold and bitter.

I actually thought in my youth that racism would be gone in my lifetime. I see now worse hate of all people and worse racism and I'm shocked by it.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
The Betrayal of Innocence

What happened to American Civilization? In the 1980's, America entered into a period of constant confrontation with the Soviet Union. And then, as the Soviet block collapsed and freedom spread to the countries within their sphere of influence, America stood alone as the dominant superpower.

We thought we'd won, and we were giddy with it. It was a time of enormous wealth and greed and even though of modest middle class means, we had enough money to provide college educations for our children, purchased bigger homes and cars, and managed to transfer much of our wealth into investments.

The American children from that era, they had no limits to their unquenchable desire. Since their parents were wealthy, the children received greater and greater amounts of consumer items. What once was expensive become commonplace items that offered immediate access to information. Things didn't just have to provide a use, but also became customized and personalized to show status. People wore the labels of their clothing on the outside instead of the inner liner, for a name implied higher value.

They grew easily bored, and needed constant ten second scene changes in the media, a by-product of the MTV generation. They needed that email or text now, not soon or when it was needed, but NOW. More things meant more boredom. Nothing could satisfy that appetite.

An entire generation ate microwaved food and forgot how to grow crops and cook them. They forgot how to start a fire. They didn't even understand the principles or the qualities of wood or the means of ignition. They did understand that a rare fruit, a fine wine, an unusual flavor was stimulating, but damn the cost, for we needed anything to assuage the hunger!

Style was more important that substance. Video images were more important than cinema. A slick magazine was more important than Literature. Art was all but forgotten. Even the music became like artificial mechanized tones totally lacking soul. Remakes became necessary, for creativity was stilted and absent.

It was a betrayal of innocence. A whole generation lost their innocence because they were given everything like spoiled brats.

And then, because of the Internet, what once was taboo, became unlimited. Anyone could easily find any image to immediate titillate. In such an environment, even the most shocking sexual act could become boring in minutes due to being inundated with it.

These are the young people who will be your neighbors for the most part. They literally don't know how to do ANYTHING of value in a collapsed primitive society. They are very smart. Not because they know a lot, for actually they know less than any previous generation despite the immediacy of information. They do have a great capacity to learn, if motivated.

In the immediate aftermath, they will not have much time to adapt. I fear for them.

Read this post, it's a prime example of today's youth:

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

There are a lot of awful people on GLP who pretend to be Christians and then they lay up heavy burdens on others who are suffering and convince them that they're guilty of sin, and so unredeemable. What nonsense!

God loves you. If you find a topic in which the OP or anyone is condemning you...flee! That kind of false teaching doesn't come from God. It comes from the spawn of Satan.

Example: Greatest I am
Thread: Are divorced Christians condemned to hell?

This person impersonates a Christian, and then you find out that they're not a Christian at all, and condemns people.

Most of the time, they pervert basic doctrines of the Bible and don't know the Bible and then twist what few verses they know. If you keep asking them, many will be reading Gnostic texts that obviously are not in Scripture.

Often they'll speak in many statements of pure profanity in very warped evil statements. It's a clear sign of mental illness or outright evil. They are disturbed.

Don't believe in a bunch of garbage. Yes, it's good for you to understand your beliefs, and also the beliefs of others so you understand them and where they're coming from.

But when someone pretends to be a Christian and then condemns you, that's a lie. It's not found in the Bible.

When Paul and Barnabas found such false prophets they revealed that to the people listening. They didn't want people to be sucked in by these evil people. See Acts 13

This is the only time to let others know it. The rest of the time, we are not to judge people, but to try to help them find God and Jesus. Let God or Jesus be the Judge.

Don't let these folks prey upon the GLP community. One star their topics. Give them red karma. Many of them don't pay and so if we do that, we'll shut them down and prevent much suffering.

Since you need some green karma for ban immunity, or pay, then giving them red karma removes their evil influence.

As a Christian, the thing I most want to do, is share the Gospels with you, the words of Yeshua (Jesus).

As a prepper, I want to give you life skills so you can save yourself when the collapse comes.

I am here as a resource for you to serve you, because I believe that feeding the Sheep of Jesus and tending His Lambs is what Jesus said to do. That implies servanthood.

I won't condemn you. I want you to find love and true joy.
...

Why should we care what Gnostics think? Why is there concern?

All people are free to believe what they want. That's free will, but there's a cost to it.

Read what Gnostic's believe about God and Lucifer. I think you'll be shocked and readily see why it was rejected as heretical. It clearly is!

They depict the God of the Old Testament as an evil being, often called the demiurge. On the other hand, Lucifer is a liberator for Humanity. Talk about getting something assbackwards!

Basically Gnostics serve Satan! They would confuse you into thinking Satan is misunderstood! What rubbish!

In a collapse, folks with Gnostic thought, they could easily confuse the starving with their answers and make what remains a Hell on Earth.

Oppose them! Challenge these false prophets.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
Doing a week long dry run to test your abilities and supplies

I know that many of you feel your prepping is adequate. Have you actually tried to live off of your preps? I doubt it.

From many disaster reports, we know of some preppers who thought they were prepared and then once an ice storm, a tornado, a hurricane, etc happened, then they realized, "Nuts! I'm missing _____. I'm running out of ____ faster than I anticipated. Crud, the weather screwed up ____. "

Folks, the only way to test, is to unplug for a week, shut off the water and natural gas and electricity and see how you fare. I bet you'll be shocked at your lack of prepping.

Some prepping in a real disaster will injure themselves. Suddenly they hurt one hand, or sprain an arm, and then they can't keep up. Try chopping wood with one arm. It's possible, but only with practice.

Try walking every day for five miles. Bet you don't make it by day six. You'll be limping most likely because your boots are new and not broken in. Your back will be killing you. The straps will chafe. It's heavier than you imagined.

The kids will eat up some ration and then bellyache. Complaining will drive you insane.

Your wife or husband will be upset that the power is off. Cold showers by the third day suck. You'll feel dirty even if you can wash up. If it's Winter, you'll be cold and have trouble sleeping.

The only way is to test yourselves now, way before a collapse comes, so then having been tested, you'll see your deficits.

The easiest way to test is on a camping trip. There and backpacking, you can't escape your lack of preparedness.

Stay focused and don't waste your time with government shills

Arguing with a government shill is a HUGE TIMEWASTER. They're infiltrating GLP, getting wise to the fact that ACs get no respect. They pose as regular folks, but actually are literally actors. They have a premade plausible history of their ethnicity, sex, education, spirituality, whatever. Be cautious about being sucked in by them.

Their goal is to create disinformation. To say a lie, well that's almost always going to cause a knee jerk reaction at the detection of their BS. What they're more likely to do is praise you, say common buzzwords to get you to think they're preppers, ask you a couple of questions, and then you're hooked.

Don't fall for it. Most of them are datamining and infiltrating. Once they get your trust, then they begin to tell half-truths to persuade you to change, and mostly their audience is everyone reading along.

Be wise and innocent and discern the truth. A real prepper is very careful about their security. They're not going to mention what they have at home, where they live, who they associate with, what arms they have, etc.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
Cobb Construction

Cobb homes and structures are a very old and inexpensive form of construction. I have no doubt that you'll utilize this if you have a lot of clay on your property. Here's some information on how to use it. It's within the technical ability of most people, and hence why a lot of permie folks are using it.

A schematic:
[link to www.handprintpress.com]

Now the really useful aspect of it, from a practical aspect of Summer cooking is a cob oven. You will get tired of heating indoors if you end up with a woodstove, as running it will get enormously HOT in the heat of Summer. Remember no air conditioning post-collapse. Those great great grannies of ours must have been drenched in sweat from the high collars in the insane Summer heat plus woodstoves. This is why our ancestors built summer kitchens, and often they were made outside within screened in porches for air flow.

There are more complicated ones, and these use wood gas to burn instead of the wood actually burning and so you're using less fuel. These are usually dual chamber cob ovens.

This is incredibly efficient for minimal wood, but what is more, think...your burning oven's smoke will drift. Imagine choking upon that in Summers as the smoke wafted through homes. That's not such a big deal on the prairie. It's a huge deal in a suburb given the proximity to your neighbor's home. It could start a fistfight!

Realize this...you probably could make a cob oven for ten families and then use WAY LESS wood especially if a dual chamber and less smoke and less argument and do less labor as a result.[They fire for two hours and burn for eight, so everyone can use it and space it out or cook at once for all and prepare food for next day.] This would greatly benefit the community by sharing resources. All of the wives will be very very happy with you and all of the husbands will be very very happy to have to source less wood.

Note: did you see his shillelagh? Cool huh? This guy is a very clever engineer, and you need MacGuyvers like that in your tribe.

Now think how cool the temperature would be inside a cobb home in Summer. Clay doesn't conduct heat well, does it? In fact it's a great insulator. That property means natural air conditioning. You still need some way to generate air movement, a subject I'm working on for still Summer air will drive you INSANE!

Here's some technical specs on cob home's energy performance:
[link to ecosenseliving.files.wordpress.com]
I would cut and paste from the article but they buggered up the scanning. A cob home uses about 85% less electricity, which is very significant and might alone make creating a cobb home important enough to do it. It might be an ideal school building for example for your post-collapse community. It's strong, cool, heats up well, etc.

Because of all the uncertainty in the world, I think it would be very wise for you all to download an ap like this:
[link to www.downloadhelper.net]
and then not only watch the videos I posted, but also to download them too. It's very easy to copy and past all of the information I posted into one word doc or pdf and then have that either printed out or saved. That only will help you if you have a laptop and a solar backup charger.

Please do this now so I don't worry about you.

If the SHTF, then I'll post as long as I can, but may disappear.

There's a lot of very helpful prepping videos as well as some very good videos on other things on youtube or elsewhere. If there's a collapse, and you had these things, then you'd be way ahead of your neighbors. Find some legal entertainment too, for think how welcome such things would be to occasionally watch when everything is grim.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
When the collapse comes, you may be the only Christian to ever witness to the people in your tribe.

Here's one persuasive gentle lovely way to share your faith.

There might not be another Christian present and never be a pastor in your midst.

This means you have a lot of responsibility to share your faith.

Witnessing is not yelling. Witnessing is not using fear or reinforcing guilt or shame.

If you really want to affect others, pre or post-collapse, then your life is the best way to show your faith. If you are sincere, kind-hearted, always giving, seldom taking, cheerful when others are grumpy, the first to lend a hand, the last to sit down to eat, the first to volunteer, the kind soul who says, "Lay down and sleep; I'll take watch early. I'll watch your children for an hour. I'll share my food.", then those things will speak VOLUMES about you and your character.

Then, chances are good that they will say, "Why do always do the right thing? Where is your source of strength? Why are you so good?"

Then you can share the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.

It's not about convincing. It's not about the Theory of Evolution. It's not about Hell. It's not about all of that.

You see, I'll bet they've run into 100 angry Christians and as a result, all of those folks have made your witnessing difficult. You have to overcome all the junk that they've feebly shown to "teach em right". In reality they really messed up their witness. Now you have a chance to show compassion, understanding, and a commitment to them as a brother or sister.

Real witnessing is about talking about the beauty of Creation and the compeling beauty and intricacy of each species so carefully connected. It's about the Man from Galilee who also is the Lord of Creation and the Lamb of God, and the Name Above All Names.

Talking and sharing about these things, you might be able to spread your faith and also facilitate their encounter with Yeshua. Jesus Saves. Jesus Saves. Jesus Saves. We only help a tiny little bit by being a good example.

How not to witness to unbelievers....

Thread: EUKARYOTIC CELLS - A Devastating Blow For the Fairytale of Evolution

Worse, for such actions of chest thumping result not in a dialogue that might convince some to believe, but also alienates believers who are disgusted by a focus on Evolution instead of Jesus Christ.

This is not an effective witness. It's a tragic failure.

How is God glorified in any of that exchange in that topic?

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
Self-Justification for Sin is still Sin

There are some Christians, probably well meaning who say things like, "God told me to say this to you. God led me to post this on this topic. I am God's modern day prophet."

Errr, maybe. If so, if you ever say anything which doesn't come true, then you'd be a liar, right? And so, by your self-justification you ended up not only hurting the Gospel, but worse you would be a false prophet and that is a very scary place of sin, for false prophets are influenced by Satan.

Don't make these kinds of claims. They are confusing to nonbelievers. They are confusing to believers.

There are many things you can say instead like, "I feel so close to God, and because of that, because I feel the intense love of Jesus in my heart, I wanted to help you." This is perfectly fine and also is meaningful to both unbeliever and believer, isn't it?

Sometimes after a lot of prayer and fasting, a pastor and church council might jointly say something like, "We prayed about it. We feel like the Holy Spirit is talking to us. We think we're meant to go ahead and break new ground and plant a new church.". Something along those lines, that comes from a lot of intentional soul searching and done in a very deliberate slow manner to get spiritual direction from God, this can be said because it wasn't some fluff, but a realy deep contemplative deliberation.

When we act like Jesus specifically called us by name and said to do something, then we must always think, "Is that me wishing it, or is it really the Holy Spirit moving in me?" It's entirely possible that God is speaking to you. Of course it is.

Be careful about this.

When you see topics that look Biblical and then you read and see Gnostic texts within them like:
Thread: Bible Says Current Civilization Will Last 6000 Years
which is quoting from the extra-Biblical Gnostic text of the gospel of bartholomew, then BEWARE of the false prophet who mixed Christian teaching with these discredited Gnostic teachings.

The whole Gnostic movement is about "hidden knowledge" and then this makes a reader feel special. They think, "Oh see, I wondered if the Church Fathers messed around and clipped out books of the Bible?" That's very heretical thought.

That's very troubling and I wouldn't get involved in any of that, for the Gnostics also believed that Lucifer was the great angel that brought enlightenment. That's saying what is evil is good and what's good is evil.

It is pure heresy.

Re: Last minute tips for parents when the SHTF
The worst case scenario: Heresy Takes Over Christianity

A lot of preppers worry about EMP, Pandemic, or a massive Deluge. They think those would be the worst situations, and I agree that all of them are awful.

That isn't the worst case scenario though. There is something worse than all of them, and that's the dark time of the Tribulation. I won't go into all the particulars now. There are great books on that subject, and I hope that you're in a church that has a bookstore and they probably can guide you or your pastor can.

One of the awful aspects of evil is that it isn't overt. If evil was clearly present and we could see the danger, then we'd avoid it, right? If you were walking down a path and there was Lucifer at the end, then you'd back up the way you came.

But Lucifer doesn't work like that. He hides. He subverts people and steals their souls. He makes offerings to them, but mostly they give up their souls for free. He uses these people and they do his bidding.

The most frightening aspect of evil is when we find it within those we trust. Isn't that the horror of discovering a trusted family member or a church official harmed a child? We thought we could trust them, and we allowed those who were innocent to be alone with them, and then in their wickedness they attacked the innocent.

The most damage that Satan can do is by infiltrating Christians. They may even think they're doing what's right. They may say the right things. Their words feel comforting.
Thread: Bible Says Current Civilization Will Last 6000 Years
The post in the link above discusses the Bible with great fervor and then in the same breath discuss Gnostic texts as if they have the same authority as God's Word. That is heresy.

Don't listen to me, I'm just a prepper guy teaching skills and trying to help save as many people as possible. Don't rely upon me for your spirituality.

I want you to find a church home if you haven't already. Find a pastor that you trust and spend an intentional amount of time with that pastor and church family. Get baptized and find a ministry in that church and devote yourself to the Kingdom of God. Pray to Jesus every chance you can for the time of great sorrow may be coming soon. Who knows when that time will come?

But be very wise and discerning about things you read and expose yourself to. The scariest thing is when you listen to a Christian you think you can trust, and then they begin teaching you “hidden knowledge that they claim has been suppressed”. That quest almost always begins by someone saying, “You should read the Gospel of Thomas....” or any number of the Gnostic texts.

It's highly likely that Satan could use books like these to pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then end up condemning all of those formerly devout Christians into eternal death. Toying with the occult is extremely dangerous and that's tempting for some people, even devout Christians. Don't be tempted.

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book." Revelation 22:18
