"The flying prototype, called the Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 (HTV-2), plunged into the ocean after shifting into a mode that allows it to fly Mach 20, or about 13,000 mph, according to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which oversaw the test flight.

The rocket-launched vehicle is part of an advanced weapons program, called Conventional Prompt Global Strike, which is working to develop systems of reaching an enemy target anywhere in the world within one hour. "More than nine minutes of data was collected before an anomaly caused loss of signal," DARPA officials explained in a statement. "Initial indications are that the aircraft impacted the Pacific Ocean along the planned flight path."

Still:

A) Why the distortion in the IR imagery? (a scientific explanation)
B) What type of anomaly caused the loss of signal of HTV-2?

And another thing: the HTV-2 only had nine minutes of flying time, which is not enough to circle the globe.

I haven't felt any different in the last few hours. We have had a small quake in the Gisborne area this morning. It is interesting how it hit the highly populated area of Australia as well.

A few people have talked about seeing a massive tsunami in the Tasman - please, not tonight as I am visiting friends on the west coast.

back to this-

I still dont understand how a seperated module cause it to show over the Pacific [the double streak] AND the Atlantic [single streak]????

Not to mention the anomoly lasted for hours - for a 13,000 mph vehicle that's a LOT of laps!
