Is this a UFO wreckage at the bottom of the Baltic Sea?
Mysterious object found at 87 meters in Sweden.
The Swedish treasure hunters in the Ocean Explorer was 19 June a very unusual find on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Using sonar, they discovered a mysterious object on the seabed that was 60 feet in diameter.
- Never seen the like
- We got goosebumps when I saw it. There was none of us had seen anything like it before, says co-owner of Ocean Explorer, Dennis Åsberg to tv2.no.
Currently, no one knows what the circular object on the seabed, but there have been many suggestions. Some believe it could be a Russian or German military ships, while others speculate whether there is a crashed UFO.
But Åsberg is far from certain.
- I have no answer to what this is. There have been proposals for ships, mines and a meteorite, but many argue against these theories because the object is too large, says Åsberg to tv2.no.
- What do you think of UFO speculation?
- I am a professional and dare not imagine the courts. But if we have the imagination with them, so it may be possible. I think more that there is no human who has been dumped in the sea.
"New Stonehenge»
In front of the object, one can also see what looks like a 1000 meter long track, as if the circle has slipped over the ocean floor until it stopped. Swedish UFO enthusiasts believe it could be towed traces of a possible crash landing on the seabed.
- It is impossible to say whether the tracks originate from the object, but how we interpret the images they do, says Åsberg.
Wreck Leader Peter Lindberg will not even speculate about the object may have extraterrestrial origins, but has stated that it might be the talk of "a new Stonehenge."
- It may be. We've had ice in the Baltic Sea as well, so it can be something very old, adds Åsberg.
- Must be investigated
Marine archaeologist Fredrik Skoglund at the Science Museum at NTNU also think the pictures are remarkable.
- But based on these images, it is difficult to say what it might be. Sonar is used as a preliminary investigation and to clarify what this is, one down with divers or video equipment. What looks unnatural can often prove to be natural, and vice versa, says Skoglund to tv2.no.

The object can also originally had a different shape that has been altered by water and sand.
Want Answers
After the mysterious discovery was featured in the media, the Ocean Explorer received inquiries from around the world with ideas about what the object might be.
- I have received thousands of e-mail, has never seen the like before. There are inquiries from film companies, National Geographic and documentary makers. Everyone wants to know whether and when to back out of the Baltic Sea to do more research.
Currently it is not set a definite departure date, but the Ocean Explorer team is planning another excursion soon.
- Hopefully we get answers to what this is. If it is a great thing it is important to get published, says Åsberg
