Based upon all of the racist comments here, I see a lot of people have never bother to check the facts. It is well known the largest percentage of individuals on food stamps are 1. white, 2. live rurally, and 3. live in 'Red' states.

One might also note the food stamp rolls have grown exponentially since 2010 -- from approximately 26 million to 43 million recipients -- due to massive layoffs in every state, touching people of every race and socio-economic level, albeit disproportionately. My questions for you (if anyone cares to answer) are:

1. Why would any decent/ethical/moral person want a child to go hungry in the richest country in the world? (not to mention the country always boasting its "Christian" values -- what a joke.)

It seems we have a serious moral and spiritual crises on our hands folks...and it didn't happen over night. The is a well known and indisputable mathematically based phenomenon that's transpired over the past 30 years: It's called PROFITS OVER PEOPLE. Who are you going to blame for that? The working poor? The family who has lost their income and means of survival? The single mother? The child who is the victim of his/her circumstance?

Also, I guarantee that most of these people claiming their children will starve without getting the food stamps asap have plenty of money for smokes, alcohol, going out and probably just got their hair and nails done and probably drive nicer cars than my husband and I do.

When I lived in Texas I would sometimes drive by the saddest shacks you can imagine in the 'poor' part of town,literally looking like only roaches and mice inhabited them.In almost every driveway was a beautiful big car,much nicer than mine. And I would see the kids that lived there wearing the most expensive clothes,things I couldn't afford to buy my daughter but these azzholes would line up every month for their free foodstamps and complain that they were discriminated against.
