Ignore them. Believe your own eyes! |

Quoting: ^Watcher^Did it look like this?... It was an irregular shape that was pitch black on the lower left side of the moon that took approximately 15 seconds to move all the way across the moon. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1504715I have never declared doom of any sort regarding the moon. Simply stating what I witnessed first hand. Exactly why I asked if it was possible for an object such as a comet that could be casting a brief shadow on the Moon. If I'm not mistaken Comet Honda is coming close to us Aug 15th. |

That would be called an eclipse and this was no eclipse. Wow! OP! That is all I can say to that... Wow! I have no idea what caused that but I'd sure like to hear from those in the know on this thread. I'll keep checking back. |

I noticed this yesterday and it is still there, i don't have a clue as to what it is..thought maybe it was a camera glitch but now that you mentioned a black shadow on the Moon it reminded me of it..and its still there! Could this be what went in front of the Moon? And what in the heck is it?? Some kind of dark matter?? |

The moon rotates counterclockwise around the earth. It IS possible that the earth was just casting a shadow. HOWEVER, the suns reflection was to the far right of the moon, so how would that be possible? If that wasn't it, we've ALL got some serious problems. Are there any other planets in alignment right now between the moon and the sun? Anyone want to look it up? --- |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1505146 08/14/2011 07:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | An hour and a half ago I left my house to go pick up some Subway which is about a mile away from my house. I live in a city on a barrier island in Florida located on the east coast about halfway down. My house is right down the street from A1A. While driving east about 100yards from A1A I noticed a huge irregular shaped pitch black shadow on the Full Moon! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1484045Zero clouds in sky at that moment. I was totally freaked out! I slowed down and just stared at it. I thought maybe it was just a normal shading of the moon but instantly realized it was far too big and far too dark. I also shortly noticed it was moving from left to right then it was gone. Please someone tell me you saw it as well. It couldn't have been a plane or a Satellite because this black shadow was about the size of quarter the moon. Is it possible I caught a view of a comet, maybe Honda as it passed through the light shining on the moon from the Sun. I have never posted any fool on here but this just happened! i am in cowra new south wales Australia and i saw the sme thing ,im pretty freaked out. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1475071 08/14/2011 07:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP I assume you were going to the Subway on E G Blvd. If you are driving east and you are on the left side of your car and the moon is to the south then how did you see the moon? Did you have your head shoved up on the dash? I also can verify the shadow on the moon. I saw this last night. My only thought at the time was that it must be a day before the full moon. The reason the moon stood out so much is that a partial moon would have an area blacked out. This was a moon that is full as you can see all of the surface. Yet this area to the left was darker than usual and quite out of the ordinary. My view was only momentary, and I cannot verify a moving shadow. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 10301914 02/07/2012 12:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw the same sort of thing last night which was the night befor a full moon, it was a very foggy day but the moon was really clear you could see all the craters and things on it and there was a thick light haze around it because it was so foggy. I saw a rigid thickish black line that moved steadily across the moon in a SW to NE diagonal direction, it took about 15 seconds and then went. The line was only visible on the moon not on the foggy light haze that was around it? Really baffled it did not look like a contrail line from a plane because it had very straight sides and if it was the wing of a plane why was the shadow just on the moon and not visible around it? Does anyone have any idea what might have caused it? |
