The Truth About Welfare
With all the talk about the food stamp glitch in Atlanta, and the discussion as to whether food is a human right, I thought I would explain my views on welfare.

First off let me say that I am a conservative libertarian, and am against the "nanny state".

But let's look at the current socialist welfare state, starting with food stamps.

The poor are given food stamps, which they use to buy food at grocery stores. The grocery store then bills the government for the amount of food stamps used in the store. The store receives the money from the government, which it uses to buy food, typically from large agribusinesses. So in this example, the poor receive food, and the businesses get the money.

Let's look at housing. Many poor people live in privately owned housing, much of which is corporately owned, that is paid for by section 8 vouchers. Again, the poor get the voucher, turn it over to the landlord, and the landlord turns it in to the government and receives money. The poor get a place to live, and the property owner gets the money.

So, in both of the above examples, the money is actually going to corporate interests, not the poor.

The poor are simply a conduit through which money is taken from middle class taxpayers, and given to corporations. So all of you who are mad at the poor, might want to consider if that is the proper place for your anger. You might want to look at the corporations who lobby congress for more and more welfare, knowing that the money will end up in their pockets.

As with most things in life, follow the money and you will find the answer.

Are you for or against welfare programs during recessionary periods?

I'm for honest money, and end to the corporate welfare state.

I'm for charity to help the poor, not the government.

Allow me to make this simple. You lot, as consumers earn cash or vouchers to sent to producers for your consumables, which you consume and then need more of. You produce nothing of your own, so you cant be capitalists. It's rather obvious, being consumer wage slaves you cant accumulate anything as the only producer/capitalists are limited by govt license and restriction keeping you as dependent consumers.
Providers of charity or accepters of charity makes no difference to the govt sanctioned producers, all the money accumulates as it's continuously stripped away from the consumers.
You cant win

Re: The Truth About Welfare
and understand this---the supermarket does NOT get their FULL reimbursement with foodstamps, they have to be "procesed" etc
so whenever and wherever there are the majority using them, the prices GO UP and this adds up to the costs passed on to the consumer--this on top of the visible inflated prices.

same with health insurance--mountains of paperwork and a bs rate.

before there was this crap, the hospitals did their business fine and the TRULY POOR and indigent were treated, admitted, had surgeries etc--rest PAID for it and somehow......we DID.
today with all the litigation, insurance fees,PAPERWORK,frauds ,etc and the STATE taking ther sweet time to reimburse the hospitals and providers, the hospitals go bankrupt and close.
in nyc,he STATE was very selective in reimbursement, letting all the catholic hospitals close.
they claimed mismanagement and millions replied bull shit, hundreds of beds and speciality clinics gone and never to be replaced.

get ready
stay well.

Re: The Truth About Welfare
In Canada, our system is different. No food stamps

Although we have many food banks that require NO PROOF of income to use, basically u just show up and get your food.

Whats that sir? you dont want the no name brand food, hold on a minute while you get you the premium brand.

I have heard from many people that volunteer thier that the parking lot(s) are usually full of many late model cars and many folks take the taxi there. LOL

Same thing with subsidized housing, once your in and not working you only have to pay $100-200 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment that we working class have to pay $1000 plus for.

I think welfare is a great backstop for many people, i agree with the system BUT think that we should place restrictions on it. Ie, 4 year limit every 10 years MAX.

BUT before your americans start cutting up welfare bums, look at yourself first and seee how many times unelmployment benefits have been extended.

the working man loves to bitch about welfare until its them that need it and then its okay
