Would it be possible to tow the Moon down to Earth?

If we had the Moon down here on Earth it would be much easier to examine & explore.

When we have found out all we need to know we could possibly tow the Moon back to its original location, or just keep it here on Earth as a tourist attraction.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1506935

Would be a novel tourist attraction! I think we should keep it down here!

Yes Indeed! People could even live in it, or it could be hollowed out a bit and turned into a Moon Jail!

I find this very interesting not because Cornell University, decided to talk about the moons and suns crazy actions. What is funny is people have to have others to tell them so they will believe their own eyes.

The sun and moon, have been changing since before 2000. My dad noticed it before he passed from this life in 2001. It was real easy to tell the sun was setting wrong because of the summer shadows. One year the sun since 2001, raised in to southeast and set in the southwest not going the full height in the sky that is normal.

This only happened one summer, if I lived in the northwest this might be normal but I live in the southeast of the USA.

The seasons are changing too. My fruit is ripening a month early. The garden vegetables start dying back early too.
So, it is best to start gardening earlier.

This is something new to us, but not new in history of man!
It just so happens we are going to see it happen again!

The moon is just rising in my backyard. It still isn't high enough over the trees to see it clearly. I'll go back out in a few minutes. Has anyone else checked it out tonight?

No joke but here is no visible because of too much clouds.
Maybe later around 2 to 3 am the sky is more clear..

It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage. — Isaac Asimov

So Astromut, what other reason other than a trans-Plutonian massive object (Planet X/Nemesis/Tyche) can explain the increase of the Moon's eccentricity in a non-vanishing long term variation?

Has the author missed other possible solutions? Because from what I've read, he tried to explore all possible solutions, and according to him, only a trans-Plutonian massive object can result to a non-vanishing long term variation of the Moon's orbital eccentricity.

Did you read the paper? They rule out Tyche as an explanation. A paper by the researchers who actually performed the observations and reported the anomalous increase suggests the real reason lies in the constantly changing lunar thermal and internal conditions and in changes to the earth's ocean tides.

Yes I read the paper, and the reason they ruled out Tyche is because Tyche is supposedly located at least 15,000 AU from the Sun.

And their calculations required that the Jovian mass planet that could cause this anomaly on the Moon's orbital eccentricity should be located only 200 AU.

So their research does not rule out a Jovian mass planet located only 200 AU. And thanks for the pdf file :) however it is saying that the file is damaged :(

Did you read the paper? They rule out Tyche as an explanation. A paper by the researchers who actually performed the observations and reported the anomalous increase suggests the real reason lies in the constantly changing lunar thermal and internal conditions and in changes to the earth's ocean tides. [link to cddis.gsfc.nasa.gov]
 Quoting: Astromut

According to this paper the Moon's and the Earth's internal coditions are not able to explain the anomaly:
The present-day models of the dissipative phenomena occurring in the interiors of both the Earth and the Moon are not able to explain it.

In this paper, we examine several dynamical effects, not modeled in the data analysis, in the framework of long-range modified models of gravity and of the standard Newtonian/Einsteinian paradigm. It turns out that none of them can accommodate [the anomaly]. Many of them do not even induce long-term changes in [the Moon's eccentricity]; other models do, instead, yield such an effect, but the resulting magnitudes are in disagreement with [measured anomaly].

In particular, the general relativistic gravitomagnetic acceleration of the Moon due to the Earth’s angular momentum has the right order of magnitude, but the resulting Lense-Thirring secular effect for the eccentricity vanishes.

A potentially viable Newtonian candidate would be a trans-Plutonian massive object (Planet X/Nemesis/Tyche) since it, actually, would affect [the Moon's eccentricity] with a non-vanishing long-term variation.

I am so glad OP that you started this thread.
I noticed first 2 years ago on the Crescent Moon, that it is tilted almost 90 degrees instead of appr 45 degrees (as it used to be some decades ago). This is the same phenomenon observed on nearly full Moon.

Here is the link to that thread:
