My neighborhood smells like burnt coffee...Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?

Skunk smells like that after a day or so.

Could someone be adding coffee grinds to their compost/mulch? Thinking that would probably do it.

In all honesty, I think it smells a lot like coffee. I personally don't mind it unless it's very strong.

Just gave a dog a skunk bath today...

It does smell like a weak skunk smell, now that you mention it. Combination of weak skunk and burnt coffee.

That's kinda funny, you say coffee. Lots of people experience that specific sent many ways. I smell it as roses sometimes.

I live in the city limits, but that doesn't mean much around here. We have wildlife in the city here. Probably a skunk. I have dogs, but I also have a six-foot wooden privacy fence. Can skunks climb fences???

I always think a skunk smells like very, very strong garlic juice. But never roses!!!

It's a coffee roaster business within a half a mile or so of you. They can stink up hundreds of yards in all directions.

No such business near me. I'm thinking it is probably a skunk somewhere in the neighborhood.

maybe someone has a weed crop, they use coffee to hide the smell when it gets strong

It’s probably a bunch of javos (homeless yuppies). They’re like winos but they’re drink of choice is coffee (preferably Starbucks). You sometimes see them in ragged triple breasted suits on street corners holding cardboard signs saying “Will do your taxes for food”. Of course you don’t want them to do your taxes so you give ‘em a couple of bucks. Off they go and get a triple latte and are hyped up for the rest of the day. It just runs through them though and they tend to urinate in public places. It ends up smelling like dark roast espresso and skunk.

I roast coffee at my house and can smell it for quite a while in my backyard after I'm done. Once after I roasted I walked my dog and got a whiff of the coffee I had roasted 20 minutes prior a full block away. I was really surprised.

You might not know they are near you. If they are not actually selling coffee there then it could just be a building not a storefront.

I agree with the skunk theory. We have tons of them in my neck of the woods, and unfortunately, our pups have gotten sprayed more than once. This is going to sound pretty weird, however, but I actually like the way skunks smell. Sometimes.... lol

oh you also have lots and lots of nice people who like eh do not come up with such revolting ideas.
