I'm thinking it's just little strange for all this to be happening inside a week:

Dear student (?) ... Just WHEN where those measurements taken ?

IF during June, July or August, they WOULD be LOW, as the winds around Fuke were swirling and NOT basicly West to East, keeping MOST of the radiation over Japan, China and the Koreas !

Do you know that due to any kind of data or is that just an expected model?

With "La Nada" in effect this year, the jetstream is extremely unpredictable this year. Previous years' models do not apply.

What exactly is anyone supposed to do anyways? Where the fuck is anyone (general populace) supposed to retreat to? You can't remove radiation from the food that the GP (general populace) can afford, you can't stay home and not go to work when it rains, you can't do a fucking thing about it! Nobody! The media swept this under the carpet-Why? What the fuck good will it do to acknowledge that radiation is everywhere and increasing? Who will accept responsibility? Who do you sue? If this worldwide crisis ever does get acknowledged for what it truly is----Nothing will happen--nothing. Yes I have kids and I am human with a vindictive side, so yes it would bring a small smile to see those responsible lined up on an old style gallows, on live primetime t.v. and watch them 1 by 1 have a noose slipped around their necks. Then again that would be too quick wouldn't it? I guess the bottom line is--We are all in the same boat here and the motherfucker has a giant fucking hole in the bottom and the stupid motherfuckers that made the hole won't even fucking help bail! I gotta go to work now but I know by 1 p.m. I'll want a fuckin nap like I stayed up and partied all night. Ciao

Not true, our government could disallow importing food from Japan.

Our government could test our milk.

Our government could test our tapwater, and put carbon filters on our waterworks.

Our government could advise people to stay out of the rain this year so you dont seem like a nutjob when you tell your colleagues you want to wait out this downpour before going to lunch.

Our government could issue daily fukushima air quality information so you know which day to take your kids to the zoo.

Our government could respond to the need to have more imports from the southern hemisphere, and more greenhouse-grown, filtered-watered, local produce.

Our governments could safety test and make plans for the closure of our own reactors and uranium mines, and call on the US to take similar responsibility.

THERE IS TRUCKLOADS OF USEFUL THINGS OUR GOVERNMENT COULD DO TO PROTECT US BUT THEY DON'T DO A DAMN THING BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T BE PERSONALLY PROFITABLE FOR HARPER AND HIS CRONIES.

Don't fall into the "learned helplessness" trap just so douchebags can keep filling their pockets with wads of cash. This is exactly what we have government for, to protect us in these situations. We need to force them to get off their ass and do so.

AC 1506087 Then it IS your boss I will be contacting.

As a student, are you presently flunking chemistry ONE ?

Have a need to see your optomitrist soon ?

Haw are you math grades ? Flunking that TOO ?

NEED money for this falls tuition ? Been offered much from the government that CONTROLS all university/college labs VIA grants OR withholding same ??

We have been sampling continuously since and before the meltdown. We started picking up the I131 on the 22nd of march.

I don't know how accurate the models are, I only work with real measurements and not predictions. I don't know anything about other RADNET stations or labs.

AC 1061587 .... I am your government 'controller' and I must say your lies are
in extremely poor taste and too FAR from the truth to be believed by the sheeple
so expect a REDUCTION in pay this next month.

Your job description WILL be coming up for review and it WILL CONTAIN a few sentences forbidding your 'release' of any further info about radiation amounts.

Just do your job of reducing ANY radiation counts for public release, using the standard escape clauses if caught !

I work in a university physics lab in the north east, doing gamma ray spectroscopy. We test air for RADNET and rainwater as well as a variety of other samples. About 5-6 days after the major explosions we did measure a pulse of I-131, the level was extremely small, difficult to measure even with our reletivly sensitive system. The I-131 has since decayed exactly as expected and we now are now measuring normal background readings in our air filters.

When chernobly exploded and burned the cs-134/137 was easily detectable in grass clippings all over the country, including the lawn outside the lab. We just arnt seeing anything like that this time. Where I live your radon exposure is thousands times greater then anything we have gotten from Fukushima. Of course the Han-San green tea we have ordered is pretty hot. I don't want to minimize the health impact of this event especially for the people of Japan, but its just not as severe an impact on the west coast, or the northern hemisphere as people seem to /want/ it to be.

One problem with installing filters to remove radiation from drinking water (mostly radon), is that the filters get loaded up with decay products, IE radioactive lead. These filters then become hazardous radioactive waste that is very costly to 'deal with'. Get a filter and filter your water, honestly the radioactivity is probably the LEAST of your worries, Im personally more concerned with eating plastic or VOC's and things like dioxin's and BPA, these chemicals didn't even exists 50 years ago, where as our biology has been dealing with radioactivity from the beginning. Filter your water anyway.

in the video part one you found radioactive place on the ground .
it is why you moved to this place not to the other places around .

in tjis place is some radiactive stone .

the rest is radon .

Soon after a heavy rain, indoor radon levels tend to rise when the gas flow is diverted toward the unsaturated soil near the structure

then how the hell did it make it to the east coast from fucking japan

nah

he just doesn't know what he's doing

which is obvious from his solar panel setup

Converting From CPM to mR/hr

Many radiation survey meters are calibrated to Cs137 or Co60. For Co60, it turns out that the conversion factor for the GM-10 to convert CPM to uR/hr is very close to 1 (0.93, but 1 is close enough for most purposes). This means that 1080 CPM is about equal to 1 mR/hr for Co60. For Cs137, it is closer to 1200 CPM for 1 mR/hr. For those who prefer to use Sieverts, 108 CPM is about 1 uSv/hr for C060, and for Cs137 it is around 120 CPM per 1 uSv/hr.
For the GM 45, the numbers are closer to 3600 CPM for Co60 and 3000 CPM for Cs137, or 360 CPM and 300 CPM per per 1 uSv/hr, respectively.

Our Rad software lets you enter in a multiplier, which you can use to convert the readings into whatever units you prefer. You would want to enter in the reciprocal of the number of CPM per unit. See the table below:

Cs137 Co60
mR/hr uSv/hr mR/hr uSv/hr
GM-10 0.000833 0.00833 0.000926 0.00926
GM-45 0.000333 0.00333 0.000277 0.00277

There is a graph available showing the relative sensitivity for other gamma energies. For example, at 60 keV (Americium 241) it is 7 for radiation coming through the side. So you would get about 7000 CPM for 1 mR/hr. It is closer to 5 for radiation coming into the front of the tube, through the mica window.

There is a similar graph for the GM-45 also.

You may also wish to take a look at our page that briefly describes the various units of radiation

If you're interested in measuring your local radiation levels, our line of radiation detectors may be of interest to you.

I have told my friends in Canada about the danger but they all laughed and said "Fukushima? It is over already. Don't be crazy!" then they went on to tell me about how much $$ they made on the stock market. I was hearing but not listening anymore...I am shocked at how we are all so blind and foolish.
