If you contribute to the forum you get good Karma, if you're a dick you get bad karma...or if people are jealous of your intellect and penis size they give you bad Karma as well :)

This Karma points bullshit is the topic of too many threads and is lessening interesting conversation and debate. Only the Universe can deal out Karma, NOT GLP posters, not consciously anyway. It's a complete waste of time and energy this dumb karma points system idea. Leave the subject, forget earning stupid points to be a star pupil ceep and add some valuable thoughts and ideas to the table. The fake karma points thing does not mimic real life - it doesn not happen in TV live debates or when you're having a chat at home or anywhere else. Only the futile, the bitchy and the immature will draw any meaning or importance from it. What is important is to make valuable comments. And those can include strong and challenging comments that some people like to label as troll. Not being fake is important .Just trying to be mr and mrs nice to please the creeps should not be a motivation. Adding humour where needed is also a plus. Long live democracy and fairness. Sod the Karma points system.

Re: "Karma" system and why is it important?
The karma system is a cuddle fest filled with kittens and puppies. Its a joke, the trolls are still flinging poop and the haters are still hating, and just like a cyber high school, there are people with hundreds of good karma points already, and this has only been going on for about three days. So the popular cheer leaders will still get ahead, the lowly among us will be over looked again. WOW. Did not see this coming!
 Quoting: PLOW DRIVER

'get ahead' ? It's a fucking message board not Oxford University. Who gives a flying fuck whether someone has 4 billion karma points, I certainly don't. That doesn't mean they've contributed any better comments than someone with none. It's all bullshit. I can not even begin to understand why anyone needs to become a member anyway. In fact, to become one makes you one in my view if you know what I mean.
Commenting is what's important and hate as you call it, might be translated sometimes in to severe dislike for an idea of philosophy or mind set. Expressing vitriol is all part of democracy and is extremely important. Mindless hate is another matter, but at least they can be bashed down by those who have the power of words. I am for no censorship with words as there will always be those to confront. Stop caring about stupid points, they are worthless. Changing something for the better is far more useful.

Thanks for your responses--The Karma system is exactly what I thought it was--nothing worth spending one brainwave on.

We turn useless troll posts and copyright violations into the ability to spread information via karma pins without the mods having to be involved.

I think this is a very well executed system.

I expected to be under 50% positive votes. I am frankly surprised there's anyone here who likes me, as I generally just say what I think or try to be funny in mocking situations.

Either way, that's never a way to earn friends... so like I said, apparently it's a very well executed system. hf
