That is strange. The other night Jupiter was not where it should have been either. By GoSkyWatch it's always right where it shows and the other night it was suppose to be to the right of the moon, pretty close to it. The sky was clear but I could not find it. It was not at all where all of the programs said it was.

Just throwing this in here, the sound that was heard in Russia, I am now hearing it close to Knoxville, TN. I have never heard anything out of the ordinary around here but came outside tonight and heard it. Very loud and creepy. Sorry OP not trying to derail just thought I would share that and thanks!

Select LASCO C3. You can use the search facility to look at images/movies with other dates. Check from the 13th of August (when Mercury should have entered on the left of the image) until today. Mercury never showed up.

I'm not the OP, btw. I just thought losing an ENTIRE PLANET was a little too important to let the thread die forever. And I wanted to wait a few days and watch to be sure. Well, I watched, and now I'm sure. It's not every day that one of our planets disappears, so I thought others might be interested too.

what the F. SOHO is definitely missing april 3rd-4th.

Mercury is still there. I noticed a while back that it never entered the soho picture. Its orbit is so low below the plane of the solar system that it is out of the picture. My question is why is it so low? Something from the south has pulled its orbit below where we usually see it.

How do you know that? Is there some other imager with a wider field of view? If so, what? The only evidence I can see shows Mercury gone. If you've got a link that shows it's still there, well, show us so we can see.

Mercury will be vaporized during the red giant phase we are just now entering.

Your argument really makes no valid points. Regardless of Mercury's orbital tilt, it should still appear in the sattelites field of view based on the projected list "Transits of Objects through the LASCO/C3 field of view (FOV) in 2011".

It is not appearing, so therefore something is anamalous. Mercury's tilted orbit has always been tilted, this is nothing new.

Mercury's gone. Why not pinned? I dunno. I guess people are more interested in the meaning of love or whatnot than they are planets that have gone missing. Priorities, priorities.

So dude came on here earlier in the year and posted a thread about Mercury being destroyed destroyed or something along those lines and everyone was laughing at him.

seriously, this needs to be pinned..unless anyone has a very good reason Mercury ain't on SOHO, a NASA owned camera...
it's pretty hard to hoax NASA footage on a .gov site...

Yeah, I don't care if the mercury orbit is below the ecliptic, it's been seen transiting the entire SOHO FOV before.

It's even more strange if it is so far below the ecliptic that SOHO can't pick it up.

Kind of gives the Nibiru folk some ammo no? That would suggest a massive interference in our solar system.

I don't know much about astronomy, but wouldn't there be tons of amateur astronomers or observatories talking about this all over if it was true? Or is it something that could only be seen with NASA level technology?

I was watching this subject yesterday. Mercury is known as a trickster for the way it appears/reappears, etc. But with what we are told about these things coming through our system, who can tell? I certainly take everything NASA puts up on video with a grain of salt, I'll say that much.

Mercury is presently in retrograde and should be appearing to move backwards in the sky. Assuming it's there.

There is a thread (old) here at glp that talked about changes that happen at certain times--how like an atom, each planet jumps over a path--was it towards the sun or away, I can't remember. Sorry, don't have the link...
