I have done this and talked to many others that have tried it. First of all, you are not unconscious. You can hear outside sounds - doors closing for example - but you just don't care. You remember your experience. (though my husband tapes them if the client wishes. Different people respond in different ways. For some it is much more visual. One guy saw and felt a fire and looked at his hands and they were very old. For me it was more kinetic. In one past life I was a soldier being held as a prisoner(maybe 1700's?). I was alone in a small stone room. I could feel how the walls felt. I had no water and this was how I died. When the session was over I was incredibly thirsty. I never felt a lack of control at any time during the experience. My husband acts as a guide. He doesn't tell anyone what to do. The client takes the journey. I can't speak for other hypnotherapists - like anything else I know there are some unscrupulous ones out there. So choose wisely. I highly recommend it. |

I don't have that quality now and I'm not sure how it would affect me if that was something discovered. Good thought. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1509212 United States 08/18/2011 03:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The reason people cannot remember their past lives easily is because they have too much baggage accumulated more recently that has their attention fixated. For instance perhaps they spent their entire life kind of with an undercurrent of depression. But they cannot see the tramatic loss of perhaps children or something else 200 years earlier that is causing their depression because they are too buried under 30 years of disagreements, upsets, mistakes and injuries they experienced in this lifetime. A classic case of can't see the forest for the trees. They need to first look at the debris cluttering up this life and the upset there will evaporate. Then they will find that just like any amnesia patient they may see something like a familiar color of car or a certain arrangment of lights and suddenly a whole arena of memories returns not even in a session of any sort just walking down the street. Then they will find that even the last few lifetimes of deaths and losses and upsets is just more baggage that is holding the amnesia in place. Remember fully some of this and then suddenly you will remember a lot more of what you are and how you got to Earth. What do you think Buddha did all those years sitting under various trees? He was actually doing something not just sitting immobile. He was figuring out the truth of this. Past life regression can of course dredge up some of these memories. But they don't actually erase the negative emotion there that was adding to your spirit baggage. And the suggestive state that hypnotism gives you means some of your memories may be inadvertently suggested into existence by comments of the hypnotist. Also another feature of human memory is they often have false "screen" memories either created by themselves or put there by others. At first when telling they sound like real memories but are ways to quickly determine a memory is fabricated not real. In addition to this hypnotists can leave you sometimes with the baggage "activated" and the upset of dying or whatever happened brought to the surface but not resolved. They have commands to help you hypnotically put this back to sleep but if it is "activated" why not erase the tears? And why add more unconsciousness forget commands onto the huge pile of unconsciousness the spirit is already loaded down with? I would suggest reading a beginning Dianetics book. It does not go into past life discussion much because it is a beginning book but it explains some of the mechanisms of recall and how to start resolving the amnesia. Or if you want to get right into learning about the past life stuff then get a beginning Scientology book but you got to know Dianetics to understand Scientology and you are not going to learn it all in an afternoon because there is too much knowledge to absorb. Just get it at the library that way you can absorb the data and either want more or ditch it without having to buy a book. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1509212Thanks for the post! Over the years, maybe the last 4 or 5 especially, I have had this desire to rid myself of negative energies and thoughts. They certainly still occur, but at this stage in my life, I do not feel that I am in a depressed or negative state. I've fully adopted and comfortable with the whole "what is, is" mindset. I'm not looking at doing this to try to resolve a reason for pain or depression. I feel like I need to discover what isn't known. Maybe I know what I don't know and it would help me to know that I know what I don't know but need to know. I'll look into the dianetics and won't expect to comprehend it all at once. Thanks! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1386579I have enough trouble remembering this life, I don't need to remember what may be a prior one. Interesting perspective. Don't even know where to start on that. It is a bit spooky, but you get something to look forward to. :} As the post prior to yours pointed out; Hypnotists can purposefully or inadvertently create memories that are not really yours. You can try self hypnotism (or meditation). That way your not relinquishing your control to another. |

I don't feel that I'm so unstable mentally that doing something like this could send me over the edge. But I also don't know if I have Huntington's chorea or not. How much would that suck? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 991392I read on one hypnotherapist's website that the sessions could take up to 4 hours, depending on what is happening. It was mentioned that he does a lot of "getting to know you" before he actually starts. Makes me wonder if this is normal. And then I wonder how much that shit is gonna cost. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1485080 United States 08/18/2011 04:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 5 or 6 years ago I found out there was a Hypnotherapist located a town over from me from where I was living in Maryland at the time. I signed up for 2 appointments with the intention of having a past-life regression and/or just trying to figure out what hypnosis was all about, because I was interested. It was my first experience with hypnosis. Some thoughts on my experience: -I think I had a bit of a difficult time "going under". Mainly because I often have a rambling mind, and often catching myself being introspective, or "thinking about thinking". That particularly came into play when I was asked questions and had to generate answers. I was too tapped into my waking consciousness. -Now, while I cannot say I definitely had a past-life regression, I will share this with you. I experienced some physical symptoms/signs that really opened my eyes. First off, in this deeply relaxed state, I had no concept of time. 45 minutes had elapsed, and in my head, it felt like 10 minutes. I had no sense of how much time was passing. Secondly, I was sitting relaxed in a reclining chair, in a cool room with a fan, yet after my session, I found I was sweating profusely. Now I've been known to sweat quite a bit, but only in environments where the temperature is physically hot, or when I've been physically exerting myself. Under these circumstances, neither of those conditions were present, yet I was sweating so much. -The other thing is this, the Hypnotherapist I saw, also practiced Reiki (sp?). That non-touch healing/energy thing? With my permission, she was doing that, and during the session, with my eyes closed, I felt this strong, tingling energy sensation on parts of my body. Particularly on the tip of my nose. My body was never touched, yet I felt these energy points on my body. I thought that was pretty damn cool, that you could create these sensations in the body without even any physical touch. So overall, while I didn't necessarily achieve the end result I was looking for with my hypnosis session, the physical effects and sensations I experienced helped further open my mind to the power of the mind and the body. Just a further testament to the point that there is so much we do not know about our bodies and our capabilities as humans. Really taken back by how these physical effects/sensations could be generated without any physical movement or environmental factors being present. Cool stuff. |
