*** Using Karma as a voting system for changes on GLP ***
So I was talking with member CG and he made a comment about Karma as a second market and it got me thinking; We should be allowed to use it to influence major decisions on GLP.

As paying members we really are the heart beat of this site and it seems like we don't get any real say in Moderator appointing or major changes to the site. The only time I see our opinions get taken into account is when Trinity posts a poll. But we all know that the polls are open to Anonymous Cowards and AC's are here for free. They can greatly influence the votes with a completely different interest than registered or paying members.

So my idea is this: We get to pool Karma points for use in voting for major site changes like Moderator appointment, banning users that are verifiably harming the site's purpose, or even getting banned members re-admitted to the site.

It could work by allowing each member to use their Karma points to vote a certain direction on a issue, but be regulated by capping the amount of points each user can contribute. If we cap the amount at ten then it keeps those that have an enormous amount from reporting from holding power on the board.

A system like this would help encourage more productive activity on the board because members would know that they could be mass voted off if they underhandedly insult or disrupt outside of the Moderator's normally ability to reasonably ban. It would also help vote out Moderators that members felt were abusing power.

Trinity, do you think this could work?

I am just interested in keeping this site moldable by the registered users and letting us feel like our money is going to growing something we are can all take pride in.

One starred so far so I think the AC's don't love the idea.

Last bump before I get bored of it. It has been a bit too good of a news day to be talking about this kind of stuff. But who knows.
