Welcome aboard - you'll love it here vs L.A. I believe, more of a community atmosphere here, well it was till the last election anyway but we're in the process of correcting that. Good people for the most part, great natural resources and the best football & baseball teams in the country. The winters are not as bad as they used to be either. As a born New Mexican and westerner I feel you'll enjoy it here if you try. Good luck to you.

I was talking to the guy who sometimes makes my lunch sandwich.

He remarked about the canoe on the roof of my car. I said that I was leaving right after work for a weekend Up North.

He then went on to say how much we do here in Wisconsin. He was from East LA, and he said all we did was sit on the stoop and talk about doing shit. You guys actually do shit.


A lot depends on where in the State. Its a big State with lots of different areas.

Buy a good pair of slippers & a good robe for cold winter mornings & evenings... also an electric blanket for your side of the bed(this will help you adjust. Your first winter will feel very cold to you, but you WILL adjust).

Be prepared to absolutely LOVE the summer. God's most perfect summers in the USA are in Wisconsin. GORGEOUS lakes with water that is good to swin in, so bring a bathing suit!

Cheese is wonderful, so are the bratwurst. Also plenty of great micro-breweries. CUt your own Christmas trees at Christmas! Starry nights, crisp & cold well water...

Learn to like cheese, beer, snow and the colors: green and yellow!

When you step outside in winter the first thing that happens is that the cold bites your nose.
I lived just outside of Milwaukee until I was 23 years old.
couldn't stand the cold...Packed my Chevy and headed South to Florida and never went back.

bring toys, buy rechargable batteries, winters are a beyatch, Seasonal affective disorder is a problem cue to no sunlight compared to LA. Get 'down' everything. Blackfies and mosquitos are awful most places.
Get a block heater for your car, a garage is most helpful.
