All hurricanes turn to tropical storms. Duh.

can't help you me either. It looks like the calm before the storm there hope like you said it stays that way.

exactly and the name will stand. it was hurricane irene and that is how we will be covering it. i will pin this myself if the mods dont pick it up again.

If this is true they would use every storm to practice and perfect their abilities. And if it is true then yes they are getting better. It seems to me that this should have been a cat 2 or 3 storm by the 949 pressures etc. However it wasn't. Strange goings on at least. MHO

Deaths in New Jersey:

1. A woman was submerged in her car and drowned.
2. Sadly, a Firefighter was killed.

Wouldn't it be strange a hurricane hanging himself on land for 3 days in a row???? I'm just curious about this.

This just in: Hundreds of squirrels reported missing or killed, bird houses destroyed from NC to VT its a horrible day for the avian species......Squirrelmageddon doom!!!!!

Yes, they usually fall apart upon landfall. This storm was something of a big deal if for nothing but her longevity.

yup and if you listened carefully enough i said it's not too bad....never have seen a tropical system come this close, and whether it gets bad here or not, it's been interesting to say the least. Plus any vids or pics i take today will be fun to show my kids when they are older =)

things are different and may I say, prayer does work. Alot of people were praying that this storm would decrease in size. Maybe it is time for people to try it, prayer works.

We don't. Tropical storms that never turn into a hurricane, remain tropical storms.

Katrina et. al turned into tropical storms, as do all hurricanes. They are still hurricanes. We didn't change it to Tropical Storm Katrina. BECAUSE IS WAS A HURRICANE. But at some point, it turned into a tropical storm, as they all do.

As flooding continues, sewage systems are over-flowing, and gas station tanks are spilling out.

DO NOT GO OUT INTO FLOOD WATERS!!!

It is NOT just some innocent ocean or river water. It is highly toxic, and full of bacteria.

I understand that, going thru hugo 300 miles inland during that hurrican caused extensive damage. Hurricans do that, the only thing I've ready about this storm identifies it as a tropical storm, again I ask why did they hype this thing so badly and then they just couldn't get the results they were looking for. Hype, hype about the hurricane, hype about afganistan, hype about Iraq, hype about Iran, hype about to big to fail, hype about Libya, these guys just blow smoke and when will people realize they do nothing but blow smoke to get you to do as they want you to.
