Wow..get a different doctor! Coughing up blood is not something to just write off...especially after several weeks of a cough.

Um, I'm in the Ohio valley and we can get temps from 120+ and my house stays at 72...we aren't coughing up anything, especially blood! You're doc is full of shit!

It is not the temperature. It is the dryness of the air caused by the air conditioning., This is not such an uncommon problem in places that have wide temperature and humidity ranges and poorly adjusted aircon. The dryness causes capillaries in the nose and throat to rupture.

I have no doubt at all that people in Tokyo are falling ill from radiation effects, it's been in the news. People with nosebleeds, "flus" that just won't go away, etc.

However, something about this poster seems fishy to me. I guess it's in the tone it was written. I don't know, I think they are trolling.

If I am wrong I apologize and suggest OP moves and looks up radiation remediation options.

Funny how OP posts on GLP after receiving that ridiculous response from a doctor. I would go straight to another doctor, and even another, for 2nd and 3rd opinions. But no, he decided coughing up blood wasn't serious enough to do that, and instead he posted on GLP. Get your priorities straight OP! Get to another fucking doctor before you DIE!

Unless you are not getting exposed to radiation, it sure sounds like severe vitamin D deficiency. Without vitamin D, your immune system would have hard time fighting off whatever it is.

Take 20,000 IU of D3 a day for a couple weeks then 5000 IU a day.

This may help your situation... or not.

I have had a life long problem with excess phlegm. As of lately (the past year and half) I have been putting 3-4 drops of oregano in a cup of water in a small teakettle. Get it boiling and inhale the steam. Usually once in the morning gives me day long relief, but sometimes a second time in the late afternoon.

Give it a try. Be sure to get the oil from the wild Greek oregano. I have also used leaves from fresh oregano that I raised in the garden and they help too, but not as much as the oil.

You might try a dust mask with some Oregano oil rubbed around the mask. This could be used for hours on end.

The doctor is wrong. It is never normal and NEVER common.

not saying this is the cause, but dryness in the air can cause bleeding in the nasal passages which could drain into your throat which is where your phlegm is being produced.

I've read that fresh cilantro is an excellent herb to clean up radiation poisoning.

I think the truth about Fukushima is being kept from them, just like we were/are being kept from the truth regarding the Gulf of Mexico. People along the Gulf were, and still are complaining of illnesses, and doctors are treating a variety of symptoms, but you rarely see it in the news.
