I actually didn't even feel it...LOL! My sister did, she was on the 9th floor of an office building called the "Tower." She got out fast! My dad's girlfriend felt it, but I didn't. I live a little further upriver from her. I am in Ohio, so is she and my sister is in KY. Weird that no one in my little town didn't feel it but those in the next town down river did. No damage here, not even at the Tower, just some shaking and rattling of nerves for those that felt it. Hope all is well with everyone. :)

I cant comprehend how ignorant some of you people

 Quoting: Trbl Ivan

You know there really should be a sarcasm font invented for people like this who take internet comments so seriously.. Of course a severe quake that destroys buildings and takes lives is no laughing matter, but this was a few fun shakes, no one was hurt, very little damage.
 Quoting: Generation Doom

I'm not talking about single comments here , you have to look at trends: Ask google if this to much for your brain

Talk to people that live in seismic active regions and eq is normal thing for them but try to see if they get all exited because they get "few fun shakes"
Its not "sarcasm font" sheeple of america needs but solid education on " normalcy bias" concept.

Re: .....SO HOW DID YOU LIKE YOUR VERY FIRST EARTHQUAKE???>>>>
Something else I just remembered....when it happened, just a little bit before two pm my dogs, all three of them, just went nuts and started barking. I scolded them because I was on the phone. The two little ones ran in circles around the living room. Even though I didn't feel it, apparently they did.

I don't get why some of you seem to want it to happen again. I didn't even feel it and I don't want it to happen again. My sister could have been killed in that high rise she was in. She said the building shook and creaked and groaned and it scared her and her co-workers to death. I am thankful that it wasn't worse than it was.

Some of y'alls stories of your own reactions are hilarious though! LOL!!! That's not what I'm talking about. Those that seriously want another one or a worse one....I don't get it.

I was in my office on the 35th floor of my building in NYC (55th Between Park and Madison).

At first I thought someone was moving something heavy on the floor above us.. I quickly realized that wasnt the case, and headed downstairs.

Everyone was pretty freaked out. It definitely got my blood pumping, I kind of liked it.

I was mowing on the tractor at this organic farm I work at in northern VA. I didn't notice anything. In fact, it may have made the ride a little smoother.

I was in Timonium, MD when the quake hit, and felt nothing. I was in a business park doing work, and maybe because of the thickness of the pads these units are built on absorbed it. Many people close by felt it, but not me. This is the second one in two years (a moderate 4.something last year) and I still don't know what it feels like. I'm sure there's going to be other opportunites, unfortunately.

It's just plain weird. I didn't feel it personally but it was felt here in downtown Columbus, Ohio. I live a county north of it though. My family was there in Columbus when it happened and they said that they could feel it at the OSU hospital.
Right now the news is still going over it. It's not something that normally happens here. But then again... normal has left the building ages ago, lol.
Might mean that something is waking up, I remember reading up on old faultlines around this area up here that's sort've dormant awhile ago after hearing about the earthquakes happening in Indiana. These are some exciting times, indeed as someone else had said.

Only it wasn't my first. We had one here in Georgia back in the 80s. I remember it like it was yesterday: felt like someone was moving mountains underground. I was outside and remembered just standing there like a deer caught in headlights.

Re: .....SO HOW DID YOU LIKE YOUR VERY FIRST EARTHQUAKE???>>>>
It wasn't very different from what I imagined based on videos I've seen. But, it gave the perspective of the spread of movement since you can talk to all the people you know in the area to see who felt it and who didn't. That's something you don't get from watching videos.

But, it is interesting because we have had our building hit with cars and various things. There is something biologically instinctual about it I think. I instantly knew it was an earthquake and not some other event shaking the building, even though I never felt an earthquake before.

Not the first for me, unfortunatley I felt some real biggies as a child living near the Hindukush & Himalaya Mountain ranges. don't mean to be boastfl but 5.8 is a walk in the park and you should be on your knees praying you don't feel a 8/9 mag. Pray People.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1517314

It's better if their first quake is a moderate one... my first EQ was well over 7 mag, and I think I'm still traumatized by it. hehe...
