Water heaters have to be strapped down in a quake and you guys on the east side don't do that routinely. They will dance around the floor and come loose from the gas supply. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1093381 If you smell gas turn it off from your house supply, and don't turn it back on yourself under any circumstance, wait for the Gas Company, and so what if it takes 2 weeks. good advise my friend |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1486940 United States 08/23/2011 03:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, glad you mentioned that. When our California quake hits, will need to check it out. We have 8 water heaters in our building here, 8 units to a building, but 200 units on the property. I really think the management should review with everyone what to do, they cannot possibly have our 1-2 maintenance people running around doing it at the time of an event. Ours are all gas, too. Have to go check for straps... |

Great advice, OP. I think we on the East side need to strap down our heaters as a precaution. Never thought of it before. |
