This is Emily in New Orleans. You helped me tremendously on another thread earlier this week.
I stayed in New Orleans for Katrina. I recommend you get yourself out of the city and be with people you know and trust. Bring as much food and water as possible. Empty the fridge and clean it, and make sure you turn off the gas before you leave. If you have a pet, bring it along. Do not leave it chained in the yard or locked in the house. Take out the trash and GO.
