UH-OH: Virginia Nuke Plant on Faultline Designed to Only Withstand 5.9-6.1 Quake
U.S. nuclear officials said the North Anna Power Station...lost off-site power and was using diesel generators to maintain cooling operations after an 5.9 earthquake hit the region today.

The North Anna plant, which was near the epicenter of Tuesday's quake, is reportedly located on a fault line.

Update: Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) Senior Scholar Bob Alvarez told the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) that the North Anna plant was built to withstand a 5.9-6.1 quake.

I saw smoke coming from one of them on the news... Was it steam or smoke? They didn't leave it on it long enough to tell. Maybe they had a fire, or maybe there's a steam leak?

We should get rid of nuclear power altogether. It works in theory, but in reality the people managing the system are fare too incompetent to be trusted with that kind of responsibility. hf

I saw what looked like steam in a news clip, too, from helicopter cam. I think it may have been CNN. Then HLN Nancy Grace kept saying North Anna was putting out steam.
From the snip of article below, I get the idea we're not supposed to be seeing steam under normal conditions?

Info about Lake Anna here with a interactive demonstration at the bottom:
[link to www.dom.com]

Cooling System
The process of generating electricity at North Anna begins with the fission, or splitting, of uranium atoms in the reactor vessel. The vessel is filled with water (not from the lake), which controls, or moderates, the fission process, and removes heat from the reactor core. This water is kept under very high pressure, which prevents it from boiling although it is heated to three times the normal boiling temperature.

This hot, pressurized water is pumped to nearby steel containers called steam generators. In the steam generators, the water passes through thousands of small U-shaped tubes — about the diameter of your little finger — transferring its heat to a second, slightly cooler water system. This secondary water becomes steam, which travels through large pipes to spin the turbines in the adjoining building.

Spinning at 1,800 RPM, the turbines drive a generator that produces electricity. The steam then is condensed back to a liquid by a third cooling system before it returns to the steam generator to start the process again. The third cooling system's water comes from Lake Anna, and flows through the private WHTF before returning to the lake.

From what I've heard, too, it's steam.

I don't know though. The whole thing makes me nervous, especially being so close. There's a lot they're not telling us (as usual), that will come out much later.

It must be retarded nuclear engineers...a fault line you say?? BUILD ON IT! It's obviously the safest place! Why, there hasn't been an earthquake for 170 years! Odds are certainly in our favor!!

The reactors shut down after the quake.

Would they still be steaming if they aren't running?

every plant should be designed to withstand 10.0, I DONT CARE WHERE IT IS. They're making enough money with that technology, they really don't need to be cutting corners.

Ok, I was not going to be all conspiratorial about Fukushima but now this has happened a mere 4 1/2 months later. This is just entirely too coincidental (also Fort Calhoun and the Nevada weapons site).

Something is going on here, something planned and deliberate. There is NO way this is coincidence due to mother nature and the natural fault lines. Anyone else feeling the same? Could it be HAARP or otherwise? If so, what is the agenda? Will the elite be heading to their underground vaults leaving us to fend for ourselves in radioactive wastelands? What is happending? I have had enough!

god has more control over earthquakes than governments do, whether thats by controlling people who have the power to cause them via magic or gods own power.

think what happened to new orleans and haiti both known for the dark arts that was no coincidence either
