Mainstream media admit "waves of disinformation" in Libya

Media use psychological warfare techniques in order to give the appearance of a rebel victory in Libya.

Recently I covered the constant disinformation published by a Syrian “journalist” and editor of the American-funded anti-Syrian propaganda network out of London, England, Barada TV.

This blatant (and admitted) politicized disinformation was just the beginning.

Thankfully, the mainstream media can no longer pretend that they are getting reliable information from their “sources” and are now being forced to address this, all too late in my opinion.

Hopefully this revelation of politicized disinformation’s role in the so-called “Arab Spring” will temper some of the sensationalist reports of civilian murders carried out by Middle Eastern governments that are totally unconfirmed and come solely from “activist” groups.

I sincerely hope that journalists around the globe can learn something from running with unconfirmed reports coming from a single side of a political conflict.

Of course, the New York Times article entitled “Waves of Disinformation and Confusion Swamp the Truth in Libya” focuses mostly on the disinformation promoted by Gaddafi and those loyal to him, instead of the blatant lies pushed by rebel forces and promoted by U.S. agents like Malik Al-Abdeh and other “journalists” with ulterior motives.

Most of the claims coming from the rebel forces have been proven totally false.

Muammar Gaddafi was not killed, nor was he captured, nor was he ever en route to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Saif al-Islam Muammar al-Gaddafi, Gaddafi’s second son, was never en route to the ICC, which was even claimed by ICC officials themselves.

As Tony Cartalucci pointed out, the ICC has actually claimed that they never confirmed that Saif al-Islam was in custody.

In fact, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, an ICC prosecutor, confirmed this to the Telegraph, but Reuters is now laughably asserting that no such claim was ever made.

Cartalucci aptly sums up this massive confusion and disinformation among the media in one sentence, “ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo should resign, so should editors at both the Telegraph and Reuters and a myriad of other media agencies complicit in spreading this willful and malicious propaganda.” I couldn’t agree more.

There is an escalation of the psychological warfare techniques being used by the rebels and the mainstream media in order to give the appearance of a rebel victory in Libya.

Malik Al-Abdeh attempted to justify these lies by saying that they were only lying in order to encourage the defection of loyalist forces, and I am sure we can see similar attempts at damage control from the mainstream Western media as well.

Hilariously, the New York Times actually blames the lies of the rebels on Gaddafi. They claim that they are pumping out disinformation because “he is the only leader they ever knew.”

Fake Messages Led to Libya war
No matter, it is the huge figure which is used as the basis for the UN resolutions and for the war. The assumption is that if, in few days, "Qadafi killed so many people, what will happen if Libyan tanks enter Benghazi?" Indeed Dennis Ross, the White House political advisor, then stated: "Up to 100,000 people could be killed and everybody will blame us if we don't intervene."

Massive bombing of residential areas in Tripoli over the last three days. Nearly 20,000 sorties, and 7459 strike sorties since March 31st.

The bombing is part of NATO's mandate to "protect the lives of civilians".

Make no mistake, NATO is involved in extensive war crimes. The media has been involved in a coverup operation.

The military alliance is supporting an insurgency which in large part is integrated by Islamist death squads which have been set loose in the streets of Tripoli.

Libya was never "for the people" - that is Gathafi's propaganda.

He supported members of his OWN tribe and enriched them unfairly, while others went without or were persecuted.

It is interesting how you dismiss all criticism of Gathafi as western warmongering propaganda, but then swallow whole the ridiculous statements made by Russia/Libya/Venezuala.

Syria is a fucking mess. It needs to be dealt with diplomatically through the UN. The UN has done very little to deal with the issues there. NATO bombing is not the answer. Murdering civilians and calling it collateral damage is a criminal act.

If you would bother to actually read my posts I have detailed how Gadhafi was not a dictator. Libya *was* a democratic country managed by tribal councils. NATO is using Al-Qaeda & Muslim Brotherhood terrorists to take over Libya. The so-called-rebels are NOT even from Libya. The war was started based on a FAKE tweet. There was no REAL justification for it.

South Africa said in Parliament in Johannesburg, that the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague should probe possible human rights violations committed by NATO forces in Libya.

In response to lawmakers' questions Wednesday, Kgalema Motlanthe, deputy to South African President Jacob Zuma said: "We note they [NATO] are attempting to create the impression that the rebels are acting on their own in their attacks in Tripoli but there are clear links and co-ordination at that level"

Motlanthe went on to said that the question is, whether the ICC will have the wherewithal to unearth that information and bring those who are responsible to book, including the NATO commanders on the ground.

There’s video proof for this particular rebel war crime from February. The Libyan state television aired two YouTube videos. The first one shows the soldiers being interrogated and threatened. The second one (which starts at 3:51) shows the executed, dead bodies of those soldiers, with their hands tied behind their backs.



To this day politicians justify Nato’s intervention in Libya by citing atrocities supposedly carried out by pro-Gaddafi forces such as mass rape or extensive use of mercenaries. Human rights organisations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch long ago revealed that there was no evidence for most of the atrocity stories, as did a UN commission headed by the distinguished legal scholar Cherif Bassiouni.These well-researched reports were almost entirely ignored by the media which first published the Gaddafi atrocity stories.

Preparing to head off any potential counter-attack by Gaddafi forces, NATO powers are readying a “humanitarian” occupation of Libya with thousands of British and American soldiers, risking the possibility that troops could be sent into yet another quagmire to rival Afghanistan and Iraq.

Eager to control the country’s vast oil resources and its 144 tons of gold bullion, a plan to send in troops would represent a complete violation of the UN’s own resolution authorizing military intervention, unless of course the soldiers were labeled “peacekeepers” and inserted under humanitarian cover.

Recall that the EU ground invasion force that was proposed back in April was similarly couched in humanitarian rhetoric and yet would have been empowered to “secure sea and land corridors inside the country,” a transparent military objective.

“Hundreds of British soldiers could be sent to Libya to serve as peacekeepers if the country descends into chaos, Downing Street indicated last night,” reports the Daily Mail.

“The troops have been on standby for Libya since the start of July. All their kit is packed and they are just waiting to get the call to go,” said one source.

Similarly, a U.S. occupation force has also been on standby for several months.As Infowars reported back in June, military sources indicated that 30,000 troops from the 1st Calvary Division (heavy armor) and III Corps at Ft. Hood were being readied for deployment to Libya by October.

As we highlighted before the NATO attack on Libya even began, hundreds of British, American and French Special Forces were sent to Libya at the end of February to train and command the Al-Qaeda led rebel army. These Special Forces troops were later caught on camera fraternizing with rebels by an Al-Jazeera film crew.

Launching an occupation under humanitarian cover would be an echo of how NATO was able to manufacture a pretext for intervention in the first place, by having the establishment media spin a civil war as a brutal Gaddafi crackdown, characterizing rebels who seized fighter jets, tanks and Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers as “protesters,” before enforcing a “no fly zone” that turned into a bloody bombardment overnight.

Also desperate to prey on the spoils of war is the World Bank, which yesterday announced its desire to “help” Libya’s recovery, no doubt by repeating its routine trick of indebting countries with crippling loans that can never be paid back while swallowing up real assets in return.

Once Gaddafi’s authority completely collapses in Tripoli, and that is by no means a certainty, Libya will likely descend into a turf war fought by rival tribes. With British and American forces already stretched in Iraq and Afghanistan, and with the economies of both countries teetering on the brink of a double-dip recession, committing to a third quagmire by intervening further in a civil war is beyond insane.

While an occupying NATO army is by no means a given, there’s no doubt that it has been built into the timetable as a precaution should Gaddafi’s forces mount a successful counter-attack. Reports today suggest that might be occurring, after claims that Gaddafi’s son Saif Al-Islam was arrested turned out to be completely false. Al-Islam later appeared in Tripoli and vowed to “break the will” of rebels who he said had been trapped in the city as part of a deliberate military ploy by Gaddafi’s regime.

We were able to divulge NATO’s plan to launch a massive bombardment on Tripoli to end the conflict before the start of September back in early July. Like the September deadline, NATO will also be working to a cut off point when, if necessary, it will send in an occupying army under the pretext of humanitarian assistance to ensure all remnants of Gaddafi’s regime are swept away for good."
