How much the beam from a phased array antenna can sensibly be "steered" What the loss in power is, in dB, at the maximum angle a pahsed array can sensibly be steered from vertical. What the height is, of the troposphere What the great circle distance is, from HAARP to Japan How many "bounces" it would take for an HF beam to reach from HAARP to Japan, if it reflected from the Earth and the troposphere What the loss is, in dB, in an HF radio wave, at every tropospheric reflection What the loss is, in dB, in an HF radio wave at every ground reflection. What the TOTAL loss in power would be (loss by steering beam from vertical, plus loss at each ground and each sky reflection) How much power is reduced with every 3dB of power loss Assume transmitter outputs 3.6MW.
