You can smile without showing your teeth. Feels more natural for me to do it that way.

I know dental fees are horrible, but try Aspen Dental. They can put you on a great plan. I promise, try it. My mom needed dentures BAD, she had horrible teeth and NO money, and No credit. Good luck and God Bless.

I guess. It feels like a halfhearted gesture. Like I'm hiding my true feelings.

Sucks. If I ever have a date, they're going to find out, too.

I got real lucky as Medicaid paid for my permanent dentures, and they are beautiful. So now I can give toothy smiles again.

I did go to the dentist once and they didn't even do anything other than x-ray and cleaning. It's like they didn't care I had obvious cavities.

Have you seen Johnny Deep's teeth? They're crooked as fuck and the ladies still love him. It's all about attitude...and resources.

Re: I don't smile because I have bad teeth …
Medicaid doesnt cover dental in my state.
That sucks.I contacted dentists from a list who said they take Medicaid and all said they did not, found out "granholm stopped it".My husband and i have our own business and are on Medicaid since we dont obviously have insurance.None of my other jobs in my life offered dental only medical so I never got mine fixed.
I understand OP.
My teeth are screwed up but it's going to cost a fortune to fix them.I am at the point where i am considering just getting them yanked and getting dentures.
Mine are shifting due to an extraction I had years ago.I could not afford an implant and getting that one tooth pulled caused the others to shift, one wisdome to grow in and now bite is way off I now have an overbite,I can only chew on one side.Ive also got 3 wisdoms beneath the gum that give me agony now and again along with TMJ where my jaw locks and my ear hurts and 3 cracked molars. as far as the breakage I think most of my dental woes are from all the pills i was on when I was kid.My enamel is thin and my teeth break easily hence the need for the extraction I had.I need an expander( likely SARPE which is surgically assisted expander)because my jaw is so messed up,braces, root canals and crowns,it was suggested to me to "cap" all my teeth thats like 400 a tooth EASY!

Sucks that people have to live with stuff like this. But until I have an extra 10-20k laying around I just deal with it.
I think everyone deserves the right to dental care, living without it truly sucks.

Re: I don't smile because I have bad teeth …
Find a great prosthedontist (dentist who specializes in repair/restorative dentistry) and work with him. It may take a while and it won't be cheap. I spent over 18k on my own mouth and took almost two years to do it. But the result is perfect teeth and a smile the people always comment on. The change inspired me to loose 20lbs and start going to the gym and working out.

Friends didn't even recognize me three years later after I started this project. Was it worth it? YOU BET YOUR ASS IT WAS! My only regret is living with bad teeth for far too long. I have crowns, a couple of bridges, and a few implants too, when my own teeth were too far gone to save. I can tell you it was not painful. I was under nitrous when the really heavy stuff was done. Even the implants didn't hurt beyond the first days after they were placed. I was amazed.

The dentist that did the restoration became a friend. Because I don't make a huge income, he gave me a break on the costs, and it was still the 18k I mentioned. This kind of work is just costly and it has to be done right to look natural and to last.

Make an appointment and at least get it evaluated and know what you need and what it may cost. Remember dentists like everyone else today, are hurting for patients and money. They'd rather be working than not and they'd rather make a hundred than loose a hundred sitting idle. If you cannot afford the fees ask him to lower them. If you need time to pay it off, ask. Most docs today will work with you - especially if it's a big case and they will be seeing you for a year or two. Good Luck! But don't live with these lousy teeth. They can ruin your life!
