Re: >>>>Sustainable Living PLUS Canning and Dehydrating Food<<<<
Hay Gang I read that TG I think was planing on storing gas for her generators. I did the same thing last fall for my in laws generators. I bought enough gas to run the generators for a month at 50%. Thankfully we did not need to use them, how ever, This spring I tried to use the stored gas in the lawn mower and garden tractor, they would not run on the stored gas, and I did put a fuel extender in the gas. Come to find out, Gas with ethanol has a max life of 3 months, wit loss of power at 1.5 months. This fall I am trying to find gas with no ethanol to store for the generators. By and By Thank you TG for the videos from You Tube. I copied them to DV. I realised You don't have to sign up for You Tube to view their Videos. I Had never tried to look. Spent near 3 hours hunting video of thing I am interested in. Never too old to learn, if you have an open mind. Blessings Drendwire
 Quoting: Drendwire

clapping glad you find youtube as facinating as i do, drendwire!!! so much information on it. people getting the info out and it's all ours to view.

i had heard that gas will only store for a certain amount of time.

how do you know if gas has ethanol in it? is it marked on the pump? i worked at a gas station and can't recall ever seeing that it had ethanol or not.

i need to find out before we get the gas. winter lasts a long time up here.freeze

Hi everyone, well today I dropped my stuff off at moms sale and stayed a half hour. Sold two things while I was there. I will find out tomorrow afternoon how I did. It didnt seem to be very busy at the place while I was there. This is a crazy weekend, I will have to tell you all about it next week when everyone is gone, I feel likepill

TB You will LOVE this cranberry sauce. Its fabulous. I would love to take credit for it, but I jacked it from one of moms friends a few yrs ago.
 Quoting: flavapor

lmao hophop

i think i've lived on those pills a time or too. toooo funny.

yeah, we want the lowdown on what has been going on. i imagine there are stories to tell.

mom said she'll think about the cranberry sauce. i've already talked her into letting me make custard. i used to make it all the time for my ex and kids. the new wife can't make it right according to my girls. my ex says she tries. makes me feel all puffed up that MY cooking is what they want for comfort food. ahhh, it's good to be mama.chuckle

hope the pup was happy with the new toys. they sure do rend them limb from limb. many a torn cat burgler has met it's demise in our house. i like the heavy canvas ones. they last nearly a whole day!! sadie is a berzerker. she'll tear your arm out of the socket playing gimme that.
 Quoting: tinygreen

Hi TG, as usual, I didn't make myself clear. LOL. They weren't new toys, they were toys from his toy box. He kept bringing them to me so I'd throw them for him to bring them back. He could play fetch all day.

Trying to teach him to put his toys back in the evening. He's doing good at it, but then he wants to get them out again. He brings me one and if I don't throw it, he gets another one. Like he figures soon enough he'll find one I like well enough to toss for him. LOL. He was just full of energy so we went out and chased his glow ball around in the dark. He had a great time and used up some energy.

Have you tried the Kong toys? They're real durable and last. Pupster is really good about not destroying his fuzzies. that's the lamb (lammy), squirrel, coon, and a few others. The only one he ripped was a hedgehog. The AKC toys and kong toys are built real well. There's a couple other brands too, but I'm not about to go foraging through the box now to find which ones, or he'll be here in a second flat wanting to play.

i get you now. i bet he has an energizer battery pack you don't know about yet. going and going and going!!

you are good to train him to put his stuff away. everyone needs structure and basic rules. i'm sure he loves the praise from doing a good job.

i'll check out the kong toys. where do you get them? sadie needs indestructable toys. those labs are good at tearing up stuff, for real.

i think i have at least one mouse in my room. i detest killing them, but it's waking me up at night. mom won't let me get a trap that contains and not kills. she wants me to put out some decon. i'm really upset about what to do. i feed the mice outside, but won't feed the ones inside for sure. i feed the outside ones so they won't tear up the barn. last year we had no trouble.

Thank you TB for the cookie recipe. That looks like a real keeper. Do you use a confectioners sugar frosting, boiled frosting, or...? Can't wait to try them.

Thank you Flavapor for the cranberry sauce recipe. I tried it just now. LOL. It was great. I modified your recipe so maybe I shouldn't tell you. I think it was either Drendwire or Old Guard who mentioned on your recipe thread that they always follow the directions. The way they said it made me think they were doing it out of respect for the recipe giver.
It was really nice.

That said, I always play with things, and meant no disrespect to you or your recipe, but just felt like doing it. I boiled the cranberries til they popped, added the sugar, apples, marmalade, but didn't add the lemon juice. Ate a dish and it was wonderful. Came to see if anyone had posted, and as soon as I saw your name, I thought, raspberries! I forgot them. So, I hurried back out, added fresh ones instead of the frozen as suggested, and it was out of this world delicious. Ate another bowl and am trying to not think about it anymore. It is very, very good!

I bet it goes well with anything. Turkey, ham, beef, or even sandwiches. It's a lot different than a lot of sauces that only go well with one or two things. That recipe is a keeper. Thanks again.

okay, you had me at raspberries. i have to make that sauce. i need that sauce. i'm going to say it's a healthy dish and we need it.

I missed you all this morning! I'm taxi mom today.

Nine's it's just powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, evaporated milk, (or hot water if you don't have the milk) I don't use a recipe for that, made it forever. I think it's 1 lb. sugar, about 1/2 stick butter, tsp. vanilla and milk. Add the milk a little at a time to get the right consistency. Make sure the butter is soft, too, or else you get butter lumps! Trust me, not good!

Yes, energizer for sure. Just wish there was a backup pack for me. Like raising babies. The days drag but the years fly. Looking forward to looking back and thinking, "awww, that was so cute." LOL.

You can get the Kong toys about anywhere they have a decent pet supply. Meijer near me has them, as well as pet stores. You can get them online too. You don't need to pay retail for them since they go on sale so much. I've bought 10 to 12 dollar toys for 3 dollars.

You might try some "disposable" toys too. Pupster loves an empty water bottle. He'll chase that thing all over the house and loves to bring it back when outside. He knows water comes from it and if I toss one that's got some water left, he brings the bottle, then runs to bring his water pan. LOL. It's really cute and they last a lot longer than you'd think. They love to hear the cruncy sound they make. (I wouldn't suggest it in the house. Might drive the parents crazy. It gets loud and annoying)

Mice. Ugh. Nasty little things. I don't like to kill them either, but also don't like the thought of their dirty little bodies crawling over things. They breed fast too, and can spread fleas and disease. About the time your wuvvie dogs get fleas, you might wish you'd have slain the little buggers. 8)

Guess I'd prefer the cold to the heat too if I had a nice fur coat attached to me and running like the devil himself was after me. Just not motivated to run around in the moonlight like a madwoman though. 8)

Yeah, pupster learned to bring the water dish on his own. After 8 he doesn't get water so he can make it a little longer without having a night trip outdoors. Why he can't fill up during the day is beyond me, but the magical hour of 8 drives him insane for a drink. He was so pathetic carrying his pan to me that I gave him a little sip. That's all it took. Now when he wants a drink, he gets it.

That's what it looks like here only worse! Thankfully for us, its a little breezy and they're blowing to the east. I don't even see the jets anymore.

I thought about suing after they came out about the food, but they died so fast I couldn't get them to the vets. Hubs had just pcs'd to Kirtland and I had to call the county and whine a little for them to bury them in the city pet yard. I didn't even know they had a place like that. Once I told them I was by myself and why, they were great about it. The commissioner came out and everything.

The mice really aren't too bad this year...yet! Hope it stays that way! I think it's because of the drought. I have some water bottles in the well house and the buggers nibbled holes in a few of them to get water! After all this time, who'd have thunk!!!

The commissioner came out and everything.

i'm glad you had some help from your city. that is just fucking tragic. i'm so sorry you had to handle it alone. you're a tough person, i'm glad you are.

You know, when daughter went to OU to study meteorlogy, she had profs that said weather modification wasn't even possible. I kept telling her it was and the argument was on, until a couple of years later, a dept. head told her class that it was and was being done. Guess mom's not too dumb without the degree, huh?!

yeah, i understand about arguing. my ex is an air traffic controller. he almost busts a vein when i try to talk about it.

if there was no trailing going on, why would the rest of the world try to stop the g20 countries from doing so?

Good question! I don't know if we'll ever know the answer to that one.

Gotta go for now. Hubs has had enough for the day! I'll try to pop in later. I'll let you know how the cranberries come out! Luv, you guys!

i'm currently listening to c-span on the pay for freddy and fanny executives.

what a mess this is. who would think anyone is worth being paid millions of dollars to do a job that is maybe work $100,000.
