Hey, TG. I found some cool stuff on a raised bed system called keyhole gardening. I've got some of it ready to post, but my eyes are to sleepy to do it today. I'll put it up tomorrow, dog willing!

Be thankful they sleep through it TB. Bad enough you're up listening to it all night. Would be even worse listening to them complain.

That's a fact and I've just about had it with testerone across the board! I was going to run away and play bingo, but hubs overnight person is in the hospital again. He's sleeping right now, he'll be working tonight.

too late. i picked something up from somewhere and i was barfing most of tuesday, during which i was running mom and dad to where they had to go.

i'm trying to get as much rest as i can, napping as often as possible.

i have never seen my face so white as it was on tuesday. it looked like i had smeared zinc oxide all over my face. it was scary.

i hate going to the hospitals and doctors offices for just this reason.

when dad was in the hospital last week, i only went to see him 3 times and only let mom go once.

i got mom heavier pain killers today, so i'm hoping she sleeps all night and i got them to give my dad the delicious purple syurp today. i'll be hitting that myself tonight, even though i detest codeine.

i'd love to see that!! i've got dad talked into a few raised beds for potatoes, carrots and onions for this year.

any info will be much appreciated.

Not today, but Saturday, maybe. We're cold and had a tiny bit of drizzle earlier. Everything east of us has had some good rain lately, but not us. I'll be back in a few. Gonna find the article link to start you off on.

Poor hubs, and poor you. Bad enough listening to the howling knowing there are a couple guys sleeping in the house. Unnerving when they carry on and you're alone. Take care of yourself too, TB and hopefully it'll all work out in a couple days.

UGH. There's some nasty stuff going around. Hard to take care of yourself when you're caring for others. Have to remember that you can't care for them if you aren't well yourself. Wow, everyone is under so much stress, aren't they?

dad was mad at his doctor yesterday because she said i looked worn out. he said i wasn't the patient and i'd be fine. she told him off but good. i tried not to laugh, but ended up crying a bit, quiet like. i know i looked like hell though.

it's been awful stressful. i'm hoping my youngest sister will be coming up in march for a week. i'll go to the farm and sleep for a few days.

how is your pup? getting big and learning his manners, i hope!!

It must be soooo hard on everyone. As hard as it was for your Dad to hear, I'm glad the Dr. spoke up for you. And, sorry you cried. It has to be so painful to think that's all the gratitude you get for all you do. It's his pain that is saying it though. I do hope you can get some decent rest real soon. It would be awesome if your sis could come up. It would do the entire family good to know that it's too much for one person to handle alone.

Pupster is doing great and yes, he's learning his manners. He's discovered he's got testosterone so he's testing a lot to see if maybe he shouldn't have more say so in decisions.

So much energy. At least two hrs. a day working with him. I'm ready to drop when we're finished, and he's just getting warmed up. LOL.

a growing dog can is as tiring as a growing child. i do understand, i've done both and i believe the dogs may have tired me out more than the girls!!

my dad just doesn't have any respect for me. i don't care though. i do my job and try to get along with him. the level of care i give to him is not diminished just because we don't get along.

he believes i'm too radical and i don't hide my views on the world and life.

Thanks TG for your kind words and understanding. It's terrible for me to even comment on it because it's trivial compared to what most are dealing with. I love him so much, but get so exasperated, like, dude, we're a team. We're together. When I say no, not to bother the chickens, it doesn't mean you can do anything except eat them. It means NOTHING. Not nudging away from the food, not following or bouncing at, nothing. Don't test, ok? LOL. He knows darn well he shouldn't, and has never tested it until his testosterone kicked in. That's just one example of his testing. He'll get past it, but just dang.

I hate it that your Dad doesn't show his respect for you. You've always been respectful of the opinions of others whether or not you agree with them. I wish he could be the same. You have a great attitude about it, but it still hurts. I wish it didn't have to be that way. It would be great if someone else could care for him for a while. He'd have a whole new appreciation for you I'm sure.

This is a good instructional site for keyhole gardening. In the How To Do It section, there is a little pic of her garden gnome thingy at the bottom of the page. Click on that pic for the link to the youtube videos. I goggled her a couple of days ago and I'm still sorting stuff out. There's alot of good stuff, just trying to find the directions 'cause I want to build one or two. The magazine article said they worked last summer down here when NOTHING else did! Thanks, Flav. I think they do too. I don't have the stuff to make them like she did, but I think I can make something that will work out. I liked the part of not trying to dig the hardpack and not needing as much water as a regular garden. I'm wracking my brains for "free" building material though. I already talked to a friend that manages our grocery store for some old veggies to get it started. I have to ask Dr. Deb about what to use for "green" though. There hasn't been anything like that here for 2 years!

your pup is mos def feeling his hormones. the second time we got dogs, i got two of them. they beat on each other all the time and i didn't have to refinish the window ledges again. mike chewed the hell out of them when he was a pup. dallas and austin were much better behaved(mostly). they had mike to get after them and with two of them they had a buddy at all times.

austin almost died of parvou right after we brought them home. it was a rough 6 weeks, but i brought him through it. i was bonded to him very tightly and it was pain of a different order of magnitude when he passed. i had sammie by then and he helped me so much.

i can't live without the love of a dog. men...meh.

dr. deb is amazing!!! i do love a gnome.

TG, I really understand your last sentence! This house definatly needs some estrogen. I'm post menopausal so that's why I said some and not more! If I count to 3, do you want to tear your hair out still?

I don't worry about the wrinkles much. I have a little sign I bought at a craft show a long time ago that says wrinkles are just signs of where smiles have been! I didn't have any wrinkles when I bought it a million years ago! It's the white, thinning hair I hate. That and the underarm flab and the rest of the loose skin from loosing weight. It just doesn't want to tighten up at all.
