Up and down, but right now ok. I just realized no one posting over there remembers her. She's very nice and knowledgable (sp?). I'm in and out today, trying to get some things done before the weather changes AGAIN!! It's been a crazy rollercoaster lately. I'll catch up with you later.

I recognize her and should give her a welcome back! We've had hot and cold flip flop weather here too! See you soon!

Fair Warning - Rant Ahead:

Ok, so my daughter is now in Missouri at the Air Force Base. Her husband put in for leave for Christmas, he has not been on leave and home for Christmas for 5, yes five, years. He did not get his leave because others had submitted for leave before him. They just got to this base in July and were told that for Christmas leave you need to get the request in January. The poor guy has been at 4 bases in 4 years and they seem to transfer him in July or October. I realize they do it by the first request, but damn...they might want to look at who has had leave at the holidays. I know the military does what it does, but damn, it really pissed me off!

Hey SO. That sucks. It also doesn't sound right. We've been out for almost 5 years, but we NEVER had to put in for leave a year out. It was usually settled around Sept./Oct. Something is fishy, I think.

With his job they can only have 2 people out on leave at any time. Since he is the new arrival, his was not approved. I think his PCS timing is off for Christmas leave. He always seems to be just too late.

I know it's not the same, but we have had to have Christmas at different times of the year. Usually around Thanksgiving. Once, we left the tree up until hubs got home. Darn thing was up for 6 months. I had to DUST it!!

I thought so too. He is at the Global Strike Command Center for the United States, but the base size is really pretty small. 8,000 people work on the base. I thought they would have more back up people. Guess not...He will be putting in a request for next year right away. Hope they stay there long enough for it to go through! We were going to go there for Thanksgiving, but changed our plans since they put in for Christmas leave. Now I'm trying to find decent airfare to Kansas City for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. It's about $2200 for 3 people right now.

That explains it. KC isn't a large airport either. It's alot of money, but it's probably the best you're going to find. At least it's cheaper than trying to drive. Not helping, am I? Sorry.

Hey TB, how is your weather? We still have not had any rain. No rain since July 20th...been getting kind of cold at night. Hubby turned on the heater last night for the first time. It was really nice to not wake up freezing in the morning. I hate it when it's only 64 degrees in the house in the morning! Day time highs are still in the upper 70's. So much for Oregon being green and having too much rain!

I live in Medford, Oregon. The airport is tiny. Everything seems to cost more when you are flying from here. We really want to go out there in May, they have a huge airshow and the airfare is only $575 per person at that time.

We're supposed to have severe t-storms tomorrow. The temps have been way up and way down. We've had the heat on since last week. It's warm and humid today. Normal West Texas fall weather. I had to cover the window ac with garbage bags. Our car broke down Sunday night just as hubs was going to go to work. We had it towed to the dealer, but they haven't even looked at it yet. I'm severly ticked. I'm stuck out here and he's stuck at work! He manages a hotel, so he has a place to sleep. Just can't get away from work.

I just had to go into the bathroom. My 2 kittens turned on BOTH faucets in the bathtub! Hopefully, the weather will let me get them outside on Saturday!

I HATE car issues! That sucks. We have an extra old truck that hubby won't let go of for just that reason. It sucks to maintain it and have insurance, but it's nice when it's needed.

Kittens are so smart, our kitty (3 years old) has been working the door handles, she hasn't got it yet but I'm sure it's a matter of time. We have the pull down style rather than the turn type. I'm almost thinking it would be good if she could let herself out. She always wants to go outside at 4 am and will pounce on us to wake up and open the door.

What stinks is, our pick up has been sitting for almost a year. Our SIL is going to fix it, but just now has found the parts. He'll take it back with them when they come home for Thanksgiving. Hopefully, we'll have it back for Christmas. We live 13 miles from anywhere, so it's pretty crummy. To make it worse, there's no where else to take the car anymore. We used to have a couple of mechanics, but they retired. The kids in town aren't very good and it's too expensive to tow the car into the city.

I can't imagine the tow bill for 13 miles! We had to have our youngest daughter's car towed 3 miles to a repair shop and it was $125. Living in a small town or out in the country is cool, until something like that happens. Kind of like computers...they are awesome until they don't work and cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Hi everyone, it sounds like everyone is very busy and stressed.

I'm sure you are too, Mama, but you don't tell as much as we do, Mama. Speak up! Is the little one liking school any better? I sure hope so, for your sake as well as hers.

Good to see you EazyD. Hope your summer has been great. Bet you're already planning next years garden. Are you in, or out, of school right now?

Flavapor, I'm so sorry about your little kitty and about Jake. It's so sad to see them like that. Hard enough to be in pain yourself, but to see your child suffer is another thing completely. You know the pain they feel and it adds to yours.

I hope your daughter had a vet she trusts and who will give her an honest opinion of what kind of outcome can be expected. It might make a difference to her on how she decides to handle it...or it might not. It's hard to not let emotions overrule logic. Our pets mean so much to us. Hope things are going better now.

SO, I'm sorry about your daughter and sil too. Has to be disappointing for all of you....and maddening. Hope it doesn't interfere with your plans to be wtih them at the holidays.

TB, you know me. LOL. Just disappear sometimes. Sometimes it would be nice to disappear a lot more too! Those days you're overworked, stressed, trying to look at the bright side of things, and when you feel you won't make it through another day, someone calls and needs some kind of help. Makes us feel good to do it, but sometimes it's about the last straw. LOL.

People sure are under a lot of tension lately.

Haven't been reading too much online but keep thinking about that LA sinkhole, crops, weather, etc. Have to catch up on things. As bad as things seemed, it should have already fallen apart and be on the way to being mended. LOL.

Things are pretty normal here. Dudely has decided he kind of likes the attic space over the kitchen for winter so he removed a few tiles, made a large opening for his fat behind to fit through, and proceeded to gnaw his way in and set up housekeeping. UGH. I'm convincing him the garage attic is a better choice.

Stay safe, healthy and happy everyone. There's always a bright side. My eyes are narrowed down to slits squinting to try and see that bright side sometimes but keep on looking people. It's there. Really. Honest. chuckle

They were supposed to have it fixed by noon yesterday. No word yet. Hubs said we have their loner, so they have incentive to get ours fixed. Idk. It's supposed to just be the fuel pump. It's not brain surgery, we just don't have to right equipment/tools to do it ourselves. Plus, it's in the fuel tank. It's just easier for them to fix it, with the lift and all the rest. We used to have a really good indie mechanic, but he retired about 5 years ago. We can't find anyone else around here. Too many kids that THINK they're mechanics.

Oh wow, TB. Learn something new every day. I thought the fuel pump was under the hood with the line that gas goes through.

Maybe it is in the tank. Hmmm. Remember when my son was grousing about having to take his tank off and drain out the gas to get to something in there to fix it. Sounds like it's a real chore. Hope they get it fixed for you real soon.

Sucks to not have someone you can count on to fix something like that. Feel so fortunate here to have a really good garage guy. Small town but really good. He's always done my oil every 2,000. miles and he notices things, like when the tires need rotated or the fluids need something, I don't know, just stuff. LOL. But am very grateful to have him. That's what we used to have. I guess there's just not enough money in it anymore and everything is so electronic/computerized these days. It'll get fixed, they gave us a 2013 for a loner. No, there couldn't be that much money in it. I always tip because his prices are so good. If there's anything to know about a car, he seems to know it.

Glad you got a new loaner but it sure doesn't feel the same as the good ol' family car does it?

Yeah, the colors are coming. 8( Along with wind, cold, wet, winter. Sniff.

Dudely will move. Will just make the garage more appealing to him. Nice entrance thorough a chimney there. Think he likes that area because he can see when food is delivered to his "old" home. LOL. If I trim a couple branches, he can still have a view from the garage chimney. I've seen him up there before and wiped his prints off sons motorcycle in the garage, so he knows his way around there. 8)
