thanks, flava. mom loved our thread, but when she started to go downhill, she lost interest in doing more than watch tv. it was sad.

glad you have been busy. your products must be selling like hotcakes. i'm so very happy you are busy and productive. makes life a bit zestier.

do you have a garden right now? how did your garden do this year? mine sucked. got almost nothing. really sad.

hope the kids are all doing well and you and hubby also.

hugsss

My garden sucked too! It got drown with the summer rains this year. We got large strawberries and just when they got ripe, the bugs got them. They looked so good and I picked them and the bottom sides were eaten. Those bugs are like kids, they wait till its done then grab and run!

The tomatoes, of which I planted none, they were all volunteers, they did well and I got alot of them before the rains started, but the green beans I only got about 10 lbs of compared to last yr when I got at least 50, and other stuff was all at various stages of growth but not ready when they drown. The only thing that did great and is still doing great were my loofah sponges. I have about 40 of them, make that 20 cause I sold some of them at the shows I have been doing, and I have at least 20 more on the vine, probably more. This is my first yr growing them so I dont know if they die back or grow yr round.

Yes I have been busy! I am messing with shower gel with jojoba beads suspended. I must have written the recipe down wrong cause I cant seem to keep it clear and if it is clear, it doesnt suspend. I have made it before and it came out good but this time its kickin my ass.

I am also working on some serums with peptides and other actives, and another one that fills in wrinkles temporarily, they both work good. I also added some skin firming algae, it said 1-3%, so of course I added one percent cause the damn stuff is like 25 bucks an oz, and I put some in my regular face cream and used plain on one side of my face and the 1% added on the other side. WELL that stuff worked way to good! 15 mins later I feel my face tightening, so I look in the mirror and I looked like Joan Rivers, only on one side of my face, so I washed it off. I think I will try it again with 1/2% and see if its a little less obvious. I do most of my testing on my face, and its fun when hubby comes home and asks whats wrong, cause one side of my face will look different than the other.

Yesterday everyone was in agreement that the side with the peptides looked smoother and better.

thank you for your loving word, nine's. i appreciate you so much.

yes. my dad is a turd. yes, it's good he's with my sister. it has all just so sudden. the day after my mom is gone, he's freaking out and wanting to know where the money is, where i have hidden his money. i just went away for about 6 weeks and found myself waking up and he has most of his stuff packed. all bad and very sad.

i miss my mom so much i can hardly breathe at times. it's getting better, my friend...time, is helping.

glad to know you are still helping the wildlife and all the deizens of that wilderness. smart about the raccoon. they do love the sparklies!!!

sadie was my dad's dog, missy was mine. miss had lived with my dad all her life and my dad cried when i asked him to leave her with me. so, fucking fool that i am, let him take her. i did it for sadie. she would have been so lonely without her. but i cry because i miss my dogs. i am so tired of being sad.

it was kind and loving how you helped the kitty leave this world. it's hard to do, but one of the most important times of anythings life, right after birth. love is essential at both times.

i'm using a big natural? gas, lp gas? i have no fireplace that works. i do have a wood stove in the chicken coop.

i'm worried about how i'll manage for money, but i will figure it out as i go, just as i always have. my kids and sisters have been helping me out. it works out, they get free therapy and an ear to listen when they need to vent and i get to eat and feed my many animals.

i have many outside cats. they live in the barn, the woodpile and the coop. i'm trying to make a deal with a guy who has a mobile vet van and see if i can't get some of these cats neutered and spayed. we're still talking. wish me luck. i just can't allow them to breed uncontrollably and i'm feeding them. wall

my cat, blackie, is on my lap right now. he was an outside cat who had a cold or allergies. it was getting cold out, so i brought him inside. he acted like he had lived in a house his entire exsistance. he is so very loving, rubs his face against mine all the time. when he lays with me, he reaches his paw up and holds me with his claws. so sweet.snuge

i'm going to take pics tomorrow of the kittens. grizelda doesn't like me taking pics. don't know why.

love you much.
 Quoting: tinygreen

How hurtful what happened to you. It's a terrible thing to invest time, energy, and give it your all caring for someone and have them be so ungrateful. I remember the times you didn't feel well yourself but took care of him. Maybe his illness has affected him in ways that he can't control. Still very sad and hurtful.

If there is a cure for hurtful words and treatment, I haven't found it. Everything a person does though, if they're capable of realizing what they're doing, good or bad, comes back to them.

You are a better person than me cause there's no way my dog would have gone with him. He could cry til he ran dry, but no way would my dog go. It would be super hard though, knowing the other dog would be sad without their friend. Dang, just dang what a bind you were put in.

Time will help pain you feel about your Mom, and it's my hope that your healing comes quickly. That the stabbing pain soon becomes a dull ache and eventually is replaced by happy memories.

Talking about the breathing though, reminded me. Do you have an inhaler with you? You really don't want to be without that, especially out on the farm. You really need to have one handy.

Blackie is a lucky cat and I know he's appreciating the love and attention he's getting. The critters are always so grateful for anything, aren't they? Can't wait to see pics of Grizelda's babies.

I sure do wish you luck on getting a deal on spay/neuter. Hope you've googled your state low cost spay/neuter programs. They've probably even gone up in price now. Most of them now don't have any income limitations. They just want cat's to be fixed so they don't add to the overpopulation....last I knew anyway.

It's so darn annoying when people drop off cats they don't want, usually when they're either sick or pregnant, then you have to deal with them and their babies. All my barn cats were drop offs. If people would even bother to make sure they didn't have fleas, it would be nice.

It's irritating as can be to try to keep fleas away, then have someone show up with them. Usually they're too scared at first for you to catch them and de flea them and get them fixed.

If you can't find a reasonable place near you and are willing to travel a ways, let me know and I'll check around here and see what the prices are now. It does get expensive feeding them but at least they work for their food. 8)

It's really awesome that you have the kids and your sisters being supportive. I'm sure they know they're getting the better end of the deal. It makes me so happy knowing there's someone appreciating you and letting you know how valued you are.

Money works out. A simple life can be happy and inexpensive as I'm sure you know. All the money in the world can't buy love or anything that really matters. If you're not hungry or shivering in the cold, it'll work out. And if you get hungry or shivery, just come on down. Might have to help carry in wood, but we'll stay warm and fed.

The picture below is a white kitty, but it's from Blackie, showing his appreciation to you. 8)

No, I'm sure you didn't want to let Missy go. I know the emptiness it leaves. Heartbreaking.

Don't blame you a bit for not missing your Dad. It's hard to miss someone taking you for granted, making accusations, and making you feel like crap with no regard to your feelings. Don't think you'd be quite healthy to miss that kind of treatment.

People who treat others like that usually don't like themselves, so it makes it hard to like others or to show when they do like someone. The whole world seems dysfunctional. LOL.

Disgusts me too when people dump animals like an unwanted piece of trash. As much as it disgusts me, I'm happy for those that find their way here and manage to fit in. Each and every one has something to teach.

I shouldn't even talk about it because it's been a while since I've had any dropped. Knock on wood!

Can't remember what the last spay neuter cost was, but was thinking in the 15/20/30 dollar price range.

Today I called several places and the estimates are from 50 to 65!! That's the low cost rate! Not just one family pet. Those are even higher.

Found one place that lists 40 as the price, but it was from 2010 so hard telling what it is now. Wasn't able to get through to them but will try again.

There's a place in Michigan around Ann Arbor, Huron Valley, that does the feral cat catch/spay/release thing.

They lend live traps, you get the cats, bring them in and they spay or neuter, clip an ear for ID that they've been done and send them back.

It doesn't look like there's an easy answer, but I'll keep looking and know you will too.

It's so nice of you to do it for them. It's also so nice of you to let your sister vent. We all know what a treasure that is, to have someone who will just listen.

Guess you've answered your own question about how you're so lucky to have such caring friends, huh? By being one.

You've still got a lot on your plate, with different housing, different heating, different location, and needing a different job. Try not to take it all on at once. It's just too overwhelming to have to deal with everything at once. Most important thing is to take care of yourself and stay healthy!! Don't forget that. Kissyblow

Whoa, TG. Check out some of these prices. You might want to check with some of the ones that are closest to you. Feel free to delete the post after you get any info you want, or I'll delete it. It's long, but worthwhile....for now. LOL. You should be able to get a feral cat price on them even though you've done an excellent job taming them. 8)

Re: >>>>Sustainable Living PLUS Canning and Dehydrating Food<<<<
I went into town this afternoon to run errands and I stopped at the vet's to get wormer for my 3 newest kits. I want to give it to them before I put them outside. I asked N, the office manager, if they had any animals that needed fostering. She said a terrier mix was dropped off yesterday. Someone had dumped the poor girl off 20 miles from town. The lady that brought her to the vets had tried to keep her for about 3 days, but it didn't work out. Her dog didn't like the new girl. While I was there a lady and her daughter brought in a calico they found in their yard. They couldn't keep her, either. She wouldn't get along with their other cats. The calico is wild. She tore up N and one of the other girls when they put her in the cage for the night.

I had them bring the dog out so I could see and pet her. I almost brought her right home with me. She's the prettiest thing, but NOT terrier size! She has gingery colored hair. She won't budge on a leash and never wagged her tail the whole time I sat with her. Almost half an hour. She just snuggled in and put her head on my shoulder. Her eyes were so sad, it was like she was measuring me up. She had a litter in the not so distant past, too. She has eyes like my Mattie had. So intelligent, just so much in those eyes. She was so well behaved, but so sad.

N told me they have been flooded with dump offs. The really bad part is, people are going out SO much FARTHER than ever before. This little girl was lucky. Someone found her that cared.

I asked hubs to think about it tonight while he's at work. He asked me if she would be outside and I told him it depends on her. I don't know if he'll go for it, because we are really tore up here right now. Trying to go through all of the kids stuff and boxing it up AND doing small remodelling projects at the same time. I don't know what he'll say. I really want to bring her home, we need each other. I honestly don't know where I'll put her, though!LOL I wonder if she can sleep on the ceiling! She's not overly large, but she ISN'T small either.

I just had to type this out to see it. It's probably not the best idea right now, but her eyes did me in. She's good with the other animals, too. Just tossing it out there, guys. Say a prayer or toss it out to the universe, whatever. I just need her to find the right home, even if it isn't with us. Chapter over!LOL

lovey, it's so hard to look away from their eyes. i have seen such sadness. there can be happy endings as well, just like the dog penny i brought up from texas. she is with her forever mommie now, my sister.

maybe hubby will let you try it out. my daughter just adopted a dog that had non contagious mange. he look kind of like a hyena. she said he feels like silk.

you are such a good person.i feel privledged to know you. ask him.

people are being squeezed so hard right now. that's why i want to spay and neuter these animals so i don't start a mass squared of wild cats.

Thanks, TG. I know about the wild kitteh's! My kids used to call me a cat herder after they say the super bowl commercial! I used to have too many outside, they used to get into fights and some would run off. I'll just have the three.

I wish you could see her, Tiny. I want hubs to see her before he says no. The vet even said she would fix her for half price for me. They know I'm always taking in strays of one kind or another! Too bad I can't find some stray chickens or goats!! I think, if I remember the video you posted last year of your dogs, she's about the same height. Just below my knees, so not too big. Just not as small as I was thinking.

It bugs me that people are dumping their animals again. The coyotes are not gentle with them. I've even heard of people in the area letting horses loose. They can't afford to sell them at auction. They don't even get enough for them to pay for the gas to get to the auction. Alot of people are just giving them away. I wish we had a couple of more acres.

you really need to get him over there. that baby needs your love.

it's awful that is happening all around us. things are in such decay. i don't understand how we ended up working so hard for so little. people can't afford to feed their kids, much less pets. and that is not the kind of world i want to live in.

we can do what we can and encourage others who can help to do that as well.

nine's left me a great list of places to call for spay and neuter for a cheaper price. lowest price so far for cats is neuter $30 and spay $45. half what the vet wants.

i gotta go to sleep. i'm starting to feel sick. i have been trying to listen to the voice chat with courtney brown about remote viewing. shit, i can barely type now. yawn

love you, TB.hugs

i agree, nine's. it's a horrible world out there for the innocent.cryingtg

i hope TB lets us know what's up.

how was your day? did you have sun today? any new dog wars?chuckle

i put a pork roast in my crock pot, seasoned it, poured A&W rootbeer up to the top of the roast and let it cook about 6 hours. make my own bbq sauce. i had an enormous sammich after i shredded some of the meat. big rings of sweet onion on health nut bread. zad sammy liked my breath!!!!

i worked outside most of the day, cleaning up around the property. resecured the tarps on the woodpile, which is home for about 7 cats of all sizes. i've tried to make it as covered as possible. when it snows it will provide more shelter as the tarp get held down.

i ache though. i spent about 2 months not doing a whole lot of movement. now i have to get myself back into a new groove. i liked the old groove.

hope all of you are doing well at your house.

hell, i completely forgot to tell you i made a few calls today, i'll list them tomorrow, and i have been directed to an agency for wild and feral animals. it would be great to get as many done as fast as i could. i would have to have them inside for at least awhile after surgery, but i can handle that.

thank you, thank you, for all the work you did for me finding all these good resources. that deserves a link of it's own. luvzu

i gotta go, my arms hurt too much to keep having to retype every 5th letter.

i'll be back early in the morning, my sister and nephew will be here around 11am and i have things i still need to do. my nephew has aspberger's and the first time he came to the farmhouse, he said, 'this place is a dump!' i laughed so hard cause it was a royale mess right after all my stuff was crammed everywhere. my sister was so upset, but now she understands that i understand. it's all good.

love you, nine's. kittyhugz

It IS a horrible world for the innocent, TG. Just makes me sick. Things are so bad though, can't help but feel for those who are feeling desperate enough to drop them off. Can you imagine a child seeing their pet dropped off because there was no way to feed it anymore? Shudder to think of it.

I'm glad you're making progress in getting the kitties taken care of. It sure is a chore, but when it's over, it'll be a welcome relief.

Sounds like it would totally suck trying to keep a tarp over the wood where they stay. Wish you had one of those little shelters Tractor Supply sells to cover wood. Could even fit a bale of straw in there and not be so brutal for you to go out to care for them and try to keep it covered.

It was sunny and beautiful yesterday. Unfortunately a big part of mine was spent in a garage talking tires and getting a loaner tire put on. Had a defective one and the guy said I shouldn't drive it even until Tues. when the others came in. They were really busy and it seemed like a forever wait. It did give me the motivation to get busy when home though. Just sitting, waiting, is crazymaking. LOL.

Your roast sounds mouth watering yummy! Ooooh, I bet it was good. I'm getting ready to start fruitcakes but can't find the right kind of wine to soak it. Mogen David makes it best, and I didn't spend an awful lot of time looking for it or go to the liquor store. Just picked up a bottle of Manishevitz? Something like that. At least it's a concord and a sweet wine, so hopefully it will work.

Your nephew made me laugh. He sounds so cute and innocent. I feel for your sis though. Bet she wanted to just disappear. LOL!

Hugs to you TG, and don't be working too hard. Have to take care of yourself!!

Hey, guys! Sorry I didn't get back about puppy until now. We ended up not getting her. Buddy growled at me when I got out of the car with her scent on my clothes. Not a normal growl, either. Stuff has gotten crazy around here for now, too, so we decided it probably isn't a good time to get another pet. The girls at the vet's promised me they would find her a good home and I know they will.

Now for some good news. With all the real doom today, it was welcome for us. New grandbaby is a girl!! I was guessing boy, but I really don't care. I voted for healthy...and the doc says she is.

I'll be reading mostly for the next few days. Feeling kind of heavy, with everything that's happening. Just wanted to tell you all how glad I am to have you all as friends. Stay safe everyone.grouphug

Awwwww, congrats Grandma. Glad for a healthy little baby. Bet you can't wait to snuggle that little bundle of happiness.

Sorry about the dog. I know how disappointed you must be. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we wish they would. If Buddy didn't like the scent, you'd probably have a busy, busy, frustrating, long road ahead trying to work things out.

Hugs to you.

Hi, Nine's! Yep, little one is now supposed to come around April 1st. I looked at the kids and said Oh NO!! Not April Fool's Day! She may even come the end of March. Doc isn't sure yet, based on the ultra sound. One of the pics had a pretty good view of her face. These weren't the really good, high res ones either. They are just the black and white ones. They're still tons better than the ones I had done. Hugs right back to you!
