Thanks, Nine's. Idk...it's just probably cabin fever. I KNOW I'm home alone too much, but once we can get the truck fixed it should get better. With my luck, gas will be too much for us to fill two vehicles! Maybe you better mail me those seeds after all.

The thing is, this was supposed to be my time to go to school or find a job. Something that was interesting to me. I've been following everyone around for DECADES and now with youngest one going off in the fall...but I got sick. I really am getting better physically, I still have a LOT of exhaustion to deal with, but all of the supplements are finally kicking in after about 9 months. Hubs is a type A personality and a workaholic, always has been. I really didn't mind too much when the kids were little, I was too damn busy most of the time. I'm so glad I found you all. The "real" friends I had down here have moved or honestly passed away. The "other" people I thought were friends aren't. It was about what can I (me) do for you. In over a year, none of them have called to see if anything is wrong. I realize I'm whining, sorry. Just trying to explain. Ok, I quit bitchin'! It's too quiet tonight and I have to be taxi mom in a half hour.

One of hubs employee's mom is in the heart hospital and the family is just waiting. The mom has congestive heart disease. Hubs is working for her tonight. She is such a sweet person, the employee, don't know the mom. I will miss her when she goes back home. She's like you TG, she lives out of state and came back here to help her mom. Seems to be in all of our futures, doesn't it?
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

So glad TG responded to your post, because I missed it and wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been quoted when she answered you. 8(

If you decide you want the seeds mailed, that's fine with me. Whatever you want. I think you're just frustrated right now, and rightfully so.

Sometimes it's hard to realize that what we want, we can and will make happen. Maybe not in the time we'd like, but it will happen. If not, then maybe there's a reason. Like maybe an education or job would take time from gardening, then the world would go to hell in a handbasket and food would be the most important thing. Usually when things don't turn out the way we'd like, it's for the best in the long run. Hard to see it now though.

I bet if you went to school it would be for something in social services wouldn't it? I remember you caring so much about a child you suspected wasn't being treated right in a juvenile facility. You're always concerned about hubs, his boss, the employees, your family, and now the woman in the hospital and her daughter. You're a very caring person. Your posts here show that too.

It has to be really hard too, for you to think of your son going off to school. It's one of the hardest times in life to gain perspective and think they'll be able to make it without us, and it's equally hard but a relief, to realize that they can. It takes a good while to realize that we too, will survive knowing they love us, think of us, and sometimes come home.

Wow, I'm really going off on a tangent here, huh? Maybe I should have left the post unseen. LOL.

But, about the last part, "Seems to be in all of our futures, doesn't it?" Oh dear God in heaven, no. Please, no. We've cared so much for so long that a person starts to wonder if we'll ever stop caring. Hoping we do, knowing we won't, and realizing that our caring is going to be the death of us, while the cared for go on their merry ways. LOL.

You guys have lots more friends than you realize. I am usually here, lurking, listening, and sharing your pain. TG, my sister, and later my brother had to deal with my Mom during her last years. She was not the mother we knew and loved. Between the drugs, and oxygen she was on, she was very changed. I felt guilty for years not being close enough to help.[east coast-I live in Idaho]

please don't feel guilty about what you could or could not have done. i'm sure you did what you could. sometimes moral support is the best help you can give someone. i know you help me with your kind words.

it's hard to face when your parents change. it actually hurts me phyically to hear the change in my mom's voice. she has always been so very strong and now time and pain has weakened her to a shell of who she was.

you can only do what you can for anyone. i know my sisters would not be able to handle my parents, i'm glad i can. you can't feel guilty about what you cannot change.

everyone has their role in life and it's not always the one we think it should be or that is. makes me laugh that the hellion is the one that came back to roost and care for my parents. who would have thought it?

Ok, guys...not looking for hugs here. I'm serious. If I'm such a freakin' genius, then why is everything falling apart at the seams? Why is it easier to see solutions (even lousy ones) for other people than it is to see them for myself? I can't let myself go on a rant, but I guess what I'm saying is, I don't see myself that way. AND...truth be told, I've been called worse names than poor Ttown girl before. I should just cancel this post, but it's been bugging me.

Anyway, I'll be back in a few. Gotta go bed down the critters.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

It is usually the way that we can see problems and solutions for others before we see them for ourselves. Cant see the forest thru the trees syndrome!

You have spent so many years taking care of the family and putting them before yourself, it is natural to have these feelings.

It is great news that your son got into the college he wanted, and I know you are happy and sad all at the same time, but this will be your chance to have a hobby and the time to pursue it.

Do you have the ability to start a group there that could come to your home for whatever hobby you may decide on? Just a once a week couple of hours, even something with the church if you go.

It would do you a world of good to get out and talk to people a few hours a week, hell, even if you go to work with hubby and take the car and go off to a sewing or yoga group, something, anything, I promise it will help. I would say volunteer at the hospital but theyre so full of germs, better left to the young and healthy.

I know one of my girls used to volunteer 2 hours a week at the retirement home, she would visit with people there that didnt get many visitors, and just hang out and talk.

They loved to listen, and she enjoyed it so much she often went two or three times a week. They also have craft type things they do at those places, maybe you could teach one for free.

Its amazing how good it will make you feel to help others and make them feel better too.

Doing something like that is the baby step to the start of your empty nest, and will give you an idea maybe of what you would like to persue more. Your life is going into a transition time and there is no sense being alone and not having any motivation cause your there alone.

I hope you really think about this because these small life changing events can easily throw someone into a depression so its important you have something to look forward to.

People on glp dont even know you, so why you would even give them another thought about calling you names is crazy. Some of them just do it to be nasty bastards, really TB dont give them another thought. Those who know you dont think anything but good of you.

Thanks guys.

TG, sorry, I was off listening to the 60's music. I'm glad you moved the guns. Years ago, when my dad got sick from the chemicals he worked with, he used to say things like that. Thankfully, the best thing that happened is he got laid off in the 70's. We didn't think so at the time, but it gave us all these years with him we wouldn't have had otherwise. Mom's just being bull headed. Both of my parents are LOUSY patients, that's just the way they are.

Don't stay up late with us, go to sleep when you can. Take catnaps if you need to. Sleep is going to be in short supply for you, you HAVE to get it in whenever you can. I don't know how you should deal with you dad, but I know from experience, it's hard not to call them on it when they talk that way. My mom says the exact same things, but that doesn't work either. I guess all you can do is stock up on pressure bandages for you tongue and hope for the best. Maybe if you and your dad are smoking together all he'll have is the munchies!?!

i tried talking to them about the green, they both said no. i'm sure mom knows i want to share in the goodies and she thinks i'd be laying around stoned all the time. little does she know that i'm at my best that way, with much more energy and a better attitude.lmao

mom told him to shut the hell up about saying he'll kill himself. he backed down after awhile, but keeps muttering that life isn't worth living. mom said he should tell that to someone who's in so much pain there isn't anything that can be done for them, he should be grateful he's got as much health as he does.

i'm gonna get some of that skin glue for my lips.chuckle

yeah, i can't keep trying to stay awake at night, i need to go to sleep at 9pm when i start to get sleepy. i hate that though.huffy

we all go through some shit in life. we have to live our lives to grow and understand ourselves.

we all make mistakes that we can't take back or change.

that's why we try to do better once we realize we can. seriously. it's all good.

Why would you feel guilty because they made you feel like a black sheep? Anyway, a black sheep is something special. Treat yourself to a chocolate bar and revel in your specialness! lmao

Glad to know you are around too. You know several years ago my dad had a quadruple bypass, and they let him come home the 4th day after.

My step mom stayed home that friday and over the weekend, then my brother went over to stay with dad during the day on monday.

I called that day to check up on dad again and all my brother did was bitch that he was worse than a baby. Complained that he wanted him to get this and get that! He said the Dr said he should get up and move around. Well my brother refused to make him lunch and told him to get up and do it himself.

My dad couldnt stay standing that long and choose to eat crackers and coke. He apparently made a mess in the kitchen doing just that simple task and again I heard my brother. I was so pissed off at that moment, if I didnt live 2000 miles away and have two babies I would have gone up there myself. I felt helpless, my dad was very upset on the phone, and I just kept thinking hes gonna have a heart attack. It was horrible.

Other than that episode and my BIL episode last year, my family has been healthy and I am so grateful for that. I am an only child on my moms side and she lives an hour from me. I will be there for her when she needs me, and my dad is far away and hopefully wont have any other health issues. He does have both my brothers there now, and the other brother is a little more caring and they have a better relationship to begin with.
