I think I might give it a try. We have city sewer so I don't have to worry about septic issues. It seems to have less additives and would be much cheaper to make than buy. I would love to have a HE machine, my washer is older than my youngest daughter, and she is 18 now!

The only complaint I have heard is they can get "stinky" if left closed. I always leave my oldie but goodie open when empty. We are starting to see an issue with the old gal, when washing towels or heavy loads and it stops, when you remove the first few items it will try to spin some more. Not sure if it is the weight or the dial that is the problem. Youngest daughter always seems to forget to press in the dial before she turns it.
