MamaHasAwakened User ID: 5426767 United States 09/27/2012 09:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think were gonna have pinkie castrated next week or the week after. The vet puts them down to do it so I dont feel so bad. Quoting: flavapor I have read on of all things a pig forum, that pasture pigs that are male dont need castration to taste good as long as theyre not near a female for the last two months. They do get tainted if they are penned. I am not sure what to believe and as much as I hate choppin off the nuts of anything, I think we should just to be safe. Pinkie does run the pasture now and he loves it. You'll probably end up very happy that you had it done Flav. I buy grass fed organic beef and bison for pupster and myself, and had part of a pig from the same place. Have never had anything bad from there, but I couldn't eat that pig. It tasted hmm, gamey for some parts of it. Can't remember which parts now, but I wondered if he'd been gelded. Kinda doubt it. It ended up that I gave it all away. The ones I gave it to all thought it was fine...but it wasn't. LOL. Don't forget to ask the vet how long before the meds he uses are out of his system. You wouldn't want to send him off and find out he still had it in his system. I'm sure you've already thought of that though. 8) It's really sweet of you to have him put to sleep to have it done. I shall never look at bacon the same way...lol. I had no idea you had to castrate the males for the meat to taste better. Poor, poor Pinkie! Me neither SO! |

I can think of several men that I would prefer to have castrated than pinkie. Quoting: flavapor I cant imagine NOT putting him down to do it. I mean its bad enough he doesnt even get a yr of his life before he becomes dinner, to whack off his nuts without him being asleep just seems so cruel I have had the same best friend since we were 9 years old. She was a FFA kid, had horses and raised sheep for fair. They would geld the sheep themselves using rubber bands! They just twisted the rubber bands on really tight and left them on until the balls fell off. That was quite an eye opener for me when I was young. Of course, no one in this house ever wants to give me alone time! Quoting: MamaHasAwakened Guess who is going to school today no matter what!!!! Wish me luck! LOL. My heart goes out to you Mama. That alone time seems to be on a sacred alter that is doled out to everyone except you. At the time, it's real hard to believe that the day will come when you have too much alone time. Hope you had good luck in getting her to school today. Maybe she'll soon adapt and look forward to going. I hope for your sake and sanity. |

I have had tongue (in mexican soup) and intestines (fried with seasoning) that were good, but would not make it a regular part of my diet. That's an old movie. Couldn't remember the movie and was thinking it was John Candy but it didn't seem right. It was Chevy Chase......but Funny Farm doesn't sound right. Arrrgh. Was it Funny Farm? Texan Buckeye User ID: 1533753 United States 09/29/2012 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey guys, Lisa posted this thread today. If you take the black markings and leave them yellow, this dog looks and acts just like my Buddy! This is what he does to my kitties, too! Thread: Awesome Friends - Pitbull and Kitten Thought you might like to see what kind of crazy goes on around here, even if it's someone else's dog. I haven't been posting much lately. Hubs is still on overnights and I'm having some health issues to deal with. I don't have any answers yet, I have to go back in 2 weeks. They're hinting at putting me back on the pain meds, but I can't go back to that. Too many side effects last time. I have a new doctor and I think she'll be good,so we'll see. At least, no one got crazy about my supplements. I was afraid of that. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know, I'm reading and keeping up with you all. Flav, I have too many corny animal jokes I could tease you with, but I won't. They're lousy jokes from my grandpa and they don't go over well these days! I'll catch up with you all when I can. These days, I have crummy timing, but hopefully, not for much longer. Hubs is having a hard time finding people to work overnights. He keeps starting training and then they all come up with lame excuses. He's on #4 trainee in the last 3 weeks. Cross your fingers, ok? |

They look like good buddies, but when the dog was nibbling fleas, I was cringing waiting for the chomp. LOL. Little kitty is so tiny compared to the dog. Must be some fun times around your house. LOL. Must be a total nuisance having to train people then have them not want to work. What a waste of time and energy. Too bad they can't just be up front and say they don't think it will work. Glad to hear you made it to the Dr. and hope things work out well. It sure would be nice if they could get to the source of the problem rather than treating the symptoms. Guess that's easier said than done though. Can't blame you about not wanting the pain pills. It would be so hard to get anything done. 'Course with the time I've wasted surfing the net today, guess pain pills aren't the only hindrance to getting things done. LOL. Take care of yourself TB. |
