Thanks, TG. I know about the wild kitteh's! My kids used to call me a cat herder after they say the super bowl commercial! I used to have too many outside, they used to get into fights and some would run off. I'll just have the three.

I wish you could see her, Tiny. I want hubs to see her before he says no. The vet even said she would fix her for half price for me. They know I'm always taking in strays of one kind or another! Too bad I can't find some stray chickens or goats!! I think, if I remember the video you posted last year of your dogs, she's about the same height. Just below my knees, so not too big. Just not as small as I was thinking.

It bugs me that people are dumping their animals again. The coyotes are not gentle with them. I've even heard of people in the area letting horses loose. They can't afford to sell them at auction. They don't even get enough for them to pay for the gas to get to the auction. Alot of people are just giving them away. I wish we had a couple of more acres.

you really need to get him over there. that baby needs your love.

it's awful that is happening all around us. things are in such decay. i don't understand how we ended up working so hard for so little. people can't afford to feed their kids, much less pets. and that is not the kind of world i want to live in.

we can do what we can and encourage others who can help to do that as well.

nine's left me a great list of places to call for spay and neuter for a cheaper price. lowest price so far for cats is neuter $30 and spay $45. half what the vet wants.

i gotta go to sleep. i'm starting to feel sick. i have been trying to listen to the voice chat with courtney brown about remote viewing. shit, i can barely type now. yawn

love you, TB.hugs

Re: >>>>Sustainable Living PLUS Canning and Dehydrating Food<<<<
I went into town this afternoon to run errands and I stopped at the vet's to get wormer for my 3 newest kits. I want to give it to them before I put them outside. I asked N, the office manager, if they had any animals that needed fostering. She said a terrier mix was dropped off yesterday. Someone had dumped the poor girl off 20 miles from town. The lady that brought her to the vets had tried to keep her for about 3 days, but it didn't work out. Her dog didn't like the new girl. While I was there a lady and her daughter brought in a calico they found in their yard. They couldn't keep her, either. She wouldn't get along with their other cats. The calico is wild. She tore up N and one of the other girls when they put her in the cage for the night.

I had them bring the dog out so I could see and pet her. I almost brought her right home with me. She's the prettiest thing, but NOT terrier size! She has gingery colored hair. She won't budge on a leash and never wagged her tail the whole time I sat with her. Almost half an hour. She just snuggled in and put her head on my shoulder. Her eyes were so sad, it was like she was measuring me up. She had a litter in the not so distant past, too. She has eyes like my Mattie had. So intelligent, just so much in those eyes. She was so well behaved, but so sad.

N told me they have been flooded with dump offs. The really bad part is, people are going out SO much FARTHER than ever before. This little girl was lucky. Someone found her that cared.

I asked hubs to think about it tonight while he's at work. He asked me if she would be outside and I told him it depends on her. I don't know if he'll go for it, because we are really tore up here right now. Trying to go through all of the kids stuff and boxing it up AND doing small remodelling projects at the same time. I don't know what he'll say. I really want to bring her home, we need each other. I honestly don't know where I'll put her, though!LOL I wonder if she can sleep on the ceiling! She's not overly large, but she ISN'T small either.

I just had to type this out to see it. It's probably not the best idea right now, but her eyes did me in. She's good with the other animals, too. Just tossing it out there, guys. Say a prayer or toss it out to the universe, whatever. I just need her to find the right home, even if it isn't with us. Chapter over!LOL

i agree, nine's. it's a horrible world out there for the innocent.cryingtg

i hope TB lets us know what's up.

how was your day? did you have sun today? any new dog wars?chuckle

i put a pork roast in my crock pot, seasoned it, poured A&W rootbeer up to the top of the roast and let it cook about 6 hours. make my own bbq sauce. i had an enormous sammich after i shredded some of the meat. big rings of sweet onion on health nut bread. zad sammy liked my breath!!!!

i worked outside most of the day, cleaning up around the property. resecured the tarps on the woodpile, which is home for about 7 cats of all sizes. i've tried to make it as covered as possible. when it snows it will provide more shelter as the tarp get held down.

i ache though. i spent about 2 months not doing a whole lot of movement. now i have to get myself back into a new groove. i liked the old groove.

hope all of you are doing well at your house.

hell, i completely forgot to tell you i made a few calls today, i'll list them tomorrow, and i have been directed to an agency for wild and feral animals. it would be great to get as many done as fast as i could. i would have to have them inside for at least awhile after surgery, but i can handle that.

thank you, thank you, for all the work you did for me finding all these good resources. that deserves a link of it's own. luvzu

i gotta go, my arms hurt too much to keep having to retype every 5th letter.

i'll be back early in the morning, my sister and nephew will be here around 11am and i have things i still need to do. my nephew has aspberger's and the first time he came to the farmhouse, he said, 'this place is a dump!' i laughed so hard cause it was a royale mess right after all my stuff was crammed everywhere. my sister was so upset, but now she understands that i understand. it's all good.

love you, nine's. kittyhugz

It IS a horrible world for the innocent, TG. Just makes me sick. Things are so bad though, can't help but feel for those who are feeling desperate enough to drop them off. Can you imagine a child seeing their pet dropped off because there was no way to feed it anymore? Shudder to think of it.

I'm glad you're making progress in getting the kitties taken care of. It sure is a chore, but when it's over, it'll be a welcome relief.

Sounds like it would totally suck trying to keep a tarp over the wood where they stay. Wish you had one of those little shelters Tractor Supply sells to cover wood. Could even fit a bale of straw in there and not be so brutal for you to go out to care for them and try to keep it covered.

It was sunny and beautiful yesterday. Unfortunately a big part of mine was spent in a garage talking tires and getting a loaner tire put on. Had a defective one and the guy said I shouldn't drive it even until Tues. when the others came in. They were really busy and it seemed like a forever wait. It did give me the motivation to get busy when home though. Just sitting, waiting, is crazymaking. LOL.

Your roast sounds mouth watering yummy! Ooooh, I bet it was good. I'm getting ready to start fruitcakes but can't find the right kind of wine to soak it. Mogen David makes it best, and I didn't spend an awful lot of time looking for it or go to the liquor store. Just picked up a bottle of Manishevitz? Something like that. At least it's a concord and a sweet wine, so hopefully it will work.

Your nephew made me laugh. He sounds so cute and innocent. I feel for your sis though. Bet she wanted to just disappear. LOL!

Hugs to you TG, and don't be working too hard. Have to take care of yourself!!

Hey, guys! Sorry I didn't get back about puppy until now. We ended up not getting her. Buddy growled at me when I got out of the car with her scent on my clothes. Not a normal growl, either. Stuff has gotten crazy around here for now, too, so we decided it probably isn't a good time to get another pet. The girls at the vet's promised me they would find her a good home and I know they will.

Now for some good news. With all the real doom today, it was welcome for us. New grandbaby is a girl!! I was guessing boy, but I really don't care. I voted for healthy...and the doc says she is.

I'll be reading mostly for the next few days. Feeling kind of heavy, with everything that's happening. Just wanted to tell you all how glad I am to have you all as friends. Stay safe everyone.grouphug

Awwwww, congrats Grandma. Glad for a healthy little baby. Bet you can't wait to snuggle that little bundle of happiness.

Sorry about the dog. I know how disappointed you must be. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we wish they would. If Buddy didn't like the scent, you'd probably have a busy, busy, frustrating, long road ahead trying to work things out.

Hugs to you.

Hi, Nine's! Yep, little one is now supposed to come around April 1st. I looked at the kids and said Oh NO!! Not April Fool's Day! She may even come the end of March. Doc isn't sure yet, based on the ultra sound. One of the pics had a pretty good view of her face. These weren't the really good, high res ones either. They are just the black and white ones. They're still tons better than the ones I had done. Hugs right back to you!

Aww, TB, don't be super doomy sad.

Here's a song for you. Even if you don't like it, I do, and it's the thought that counts. 8)

And a happy thought for you. Dudely has a friend. He brought her out to raid the cat food tonight. Had been wonder how he could possibly eat so much. I put LOTS of food out and it's always gone the next morning. Now I know. Hopefully, he'll have someone to cuddle with this winter. I'm so happy for him.

Now, you be happy too!

Little ones in the spring? Gulp. Guess it would be ok if the Dudester can teach his lady to raise the little ones right. He's my chicken guard. Chases away the possums. (probably not out of the goodness of his little heart, but more for protection of his egg supply)chuckle

Re: >>>>Sustainable Living PLUS Canning and Dehydrating Food<<<<
congrats, TB!!greenstarsgrandmatgbearteapartyloveballoon

i just want to state that i have enjoyed each and every person who has contributed to this thread and know that i will always remember you. i am writing this as the world seems to be going to hell in a greased handbag at the moment. i just want everyone to know i care and i hope we will all make it through to have a boring ass new years eve.

sorry to have dropped from sight again, but i hauled one of the tiny kittens out of the woodbox a few days ago. it was going to dip to 20F and the way that kitten looked i knew it wouldn't make it. i'm glad i did, it was 18F when i got up. it's like having a damn baby!! every two hours i'm feeding it and cleaning it. runny eyes, haven't seen any worms, but i do check at night with the flashlight. not sure if it's a boy or girl. it's about 2 months at a guess. tiny and it hasn't been able to keep any reserves as it has to sleep outside in the woodpile.

i'm calling it precious, as i don't know it's gender and it is very precious. sammy is ok, grizelda highly pissed, blackie doesn't care. i'm also cat sitting for my aunt, her cat is a neutered stray named tippy. he's the most attractive cat i've ever seen in person.

okay, sorry about the cat stuff, a relative just shot two deer on the property and even though i know he needs the meat i'm so sad. i guess it's the dying part and perhaps lack to spiritual knowledge on the part of others who take lives for no reason, as sport. i'd do it if i have to, i'd just pray first and be a very good shot.

the ebt situation has me terrified. what will the neglected ones do now? i'm not talking about the people who delibrately have kids for aid, but the ill, the elderly and the mentally challenged of all sorts. i have filled out paperwork for an ebt card, but it hasn't cleared and now it may not ever. hmmmmm. glad i have family that helps me.

my aunt is going recommend me to an elderly woman at her church as someone to take her to doctors appointments and light housecleaning. i'd be very happy to do that job again!! my aunt has been helping her, but she has other situations going on and the woman has an increasing number of appointments. wish me luck.

nine's. thank you so much for caring about me and mine.hugsssi do have a small shed outside i tried to get them to do into. i put hay down and some old blankets. not a single guest that i can see, except some walking around. i think it's because they are hiding in the woodpile. maybe too exposed for comfort. i didn't get ahold of the guy with the mobile van. at least he hasn't called me back yet. i'll do what i can and i printed off the list of the places and links you posted. such valuable info for many people.

much love to you all and i'll be back later, i have to go outside and clean all the blood off my driveway. yuck.:greenbarf:

Tiny,
Sorry you have to go do that! That would be hard for me too! I understand people needing food and such. Just a hard thought too to take a life, no matter what it is. Deer are one of my favorites too. So gentle and delicate looking with those big brown eyes. They run around here like stray kittens! I dread driving my daughter to dance each week, because you never know when a mama and her 2 babies are gonna cross in front of you. We counted 18 deer just on the way to dance.

You are a good soul Tiny for taking care of all those cats. Wish I was close to help you out!

Funny story. Took daughter to dance last night and had all 3 girls in the car. There was a choclolate lab that went outof his yard into the busy road and was about to get hit. He had to be about a year old. I decided to get out of the car and walk him up to the door. There were no other houses around, so I figured he belonged there. That dog licked me and played and jumped all the way up to the door. I knocked on the door (scary) and this man comes out and then his wife. I asked if this was his dog and told him he was in the road about to get hit. He said yes and his wife said that was the first time he did that. ( I was not buying it) Anyways, once the man came out, the dog decided he better start acting like a guard dog and then proceeded to bark at me after he licked me all the way to the door! I think I'm going to look for him again next week!

I'm glad Dudely found a friend. Maybe you'll have little ones in the spring too!?!

HAHAHA. The song I posted for shore ain't Steely Dan, but like I said, it's the thought, and they're always good ones.

Little ones in the spring? Gulp. Guess it would be ok if the Dudester can teach his lady to raise the little ones right. He's my chicken guard. Chases away the possums. (probably not out of the goodness of his little heart, but more for protection of his egg supply)chuckle

Gotta hit the hay, TB. Long day and I'm whipped. Smile. u2efine

What a sweet post, TG. I don't think any of us will forget each other. We've offered companionship, kindness, love, advice, sympathy, and encouragement to each other. It's not something easily forgotten.

How sweet of you to rescue that tiny little kitty. It's so exhausting caring for something that needs something so often. It IS like having a baby, and it's easy to see why, at a certain age, women can no longer have babies. The stamina just isn't there. It's really hard and the frustrations are many. But, when there's success, it's all worth it.....if we live through it.

I'm sure you know, but if you don't, each time the kitty eats, he/she needs the belly rubbed to simulate mama's tongue and stimulate them to pee and poop.

So glad to hear you have a building for the kitties, and hope it makes your work easier this winter. Hard enough to do things in winter, without having to be constantly in the wind and cold. Once it gets nastier out, the kitties might go in there.

If you really want them there, you could try feeding them there in the daytime, but take the food away at might so it doesn't draw possums who will run them out.

I can't imagine cleaning the blood from the driveway from a relatives hunt. He/she should have done it. That's not right. They better share some of that meat with you.

I bet your application will go through just fine, and hope you are able to get that job. It your app. doesn't go through, or you're in need before it does go through, let me know. I have food to share. We can meet halfway.

Try to not worry about things out of your control, TG. It's something we all do, but it's not productive, it causes stress, poor health, and uses energy better applied to something useful. You've got too much depending on you to be sick. Alllllllllways something depending on us. Always. LOL.

But, spring will come, and summer will follow. sunnywthr
