Thank you for the input everyone. We have been feeding him the same time every day twice, and the same thing. Yesterday was the first change so hes just getting more protein now but not just protein.

I dont get the carb thing for dogs either TB. As for your turkey, my favorite way to do turkey, and it turns out the best I have ever had is to put it in the oven covered just before you go to bed on 250 and turn it off in the morning. The house smells great and the turkey is perfect and fall off the bone juicy. You can still carve it too, and the best part is it still makes that delicious skin that I LOVE to eat.

That is the perfect way considering your not feeling well.

Nines, I hope your houseful is fun, its always nice to see the kids and like you said, they can entertain each other. I love watching my kids with their friends, gives insight on what kind of person they are when they arent around you.

So.... what about the girl friend? Is she still in the picture?

Ooohhh, I missed the part about the gf!

Flav, thanks for the reminder. Gram and mom used to make turkey that way when I was little, back when they got fresh turkeys. I think I'll just do that with the big guy! I love the crispy skin, too!

HAHA Flav. I duzzint want them doing dishes. I want them to eat and go to the big ol playfield and have fun with their bang bang toys, then come back and have dessert. Meanwhile, Pupster and I will go for a walk. Then a nap. 8)

No prob with the girlfriend, Flav. I can deal with whatever makes him happy. I kind of miss her in a sociopathic way. LOL.

She made major blunders and unfortunately, some were on his computer. What she claims was just having fun, playing around and not serious to her, was the last straw for him. Sad situation.

We sure do!LOL I just haven't gotten back up to par after taking care of the folks. Everything has been super stressful since I got back home, everything seems to be a crisis. (I give up on spelling today. Sorry everyone!)

I'm just going to throw Tom in the oven and roast him. No big deal. I make my gram's bread dressing and that's easy. I still don't like cornbread stuffing very much. I'm super cleaning the house, finally, but the kids left SO much crap when they moved out! I can only do a little at a time, too. Add to that, all the times hubs works overnights and sleeps during the day...well, it's slow going anyway. I was trying to get a couple of my friends kids to come and help (with pay), but they weren't interested. My latest cheat is to put the cart on the garden tractor and load the stuff for the dumpster in the cart. The cotton dust in the air makes it too hard to be outside for very long, so I can't make a lot of trips to the dumpster.

I'm at the stage of cleaning where it looks worse than when I started!LOL You know when you start sorting things out and making NEW piles of junk to throw out!?! That's where I'm at right now. I need to buy some more plastic totes for the stuff I'm saving for the kids. They say they don't want it, but I know from experience, they will later!LOL
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

I know, TB. That was too much for you for too long, especially not even being able to rest well at night. It's a wonder you aren't in a lot worse shape.

Be really careful about going outside when the cotton is doing it's thing. You don't want to end up in the Emergency Room gasping for air.

The cleaning will wait. Take your time and get your rest. Then you won't be coming down with diseases. 8) Have a great, relaxing day....after you cook your bird, and go out to eat, and find a space to put the bird, and put the bird away, and ........8)

I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a happy Thanksgiving! Real doom...for the first time in too many years, I get to watch the parade. CBS's coverage is terrible! Too many interviews and not enough parade! LOL

It's a beautiful day here, it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving at all. Blue sky and the temps are supposed to hit 79! The high in the 50's tomorrow, typical West Texas!!

I hope you all had a wonderful day.headlessch

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Mama and OG, I hope you didnt work to hard.

TB glad your day went well and drama free, even if you had to suffer thru interviews instead of big beautiful floats.

SO hope you were feeling well enough to enjoy your day

Nines, I hope you had a great time with your son and the boys, and in spite of it all, had an awesome time of it and gave some of the leftovers to dudely, and a little something for the fourlegged canine family too.

TG, hope you are spending time with family and or friends and are having fun.

Tauranga, I know you dont celebrate Thanksgiving but hope your day went well and that you have an awesome weekend.

Drendwire nice to hear from you, hope you and the family had a great Thanksgiving also. Nice to know you are sending energy when needed to those who need it.

I dont think I left anyone out, but if I did, have a great Thanksgiving and if you are one of the crazys who do the black friday thing, have at it, hope you get great deals and have a ball. That is just not for me so I bow out of that madness.

Cherish your friends and family whether you were able to spend the day with them or just had them in your thoughts at some point, as I am sure they have done also.

hiya flav

no, you are right, we dont have thanksgiving here, we do the family celebration/get together thing at christmas here in nz

lols last year TG had to explain thanksgiving to me, because i didnt know what it was all about

yes i am having a happy time at home these days, my son's behaviour has improved greatly and i have more support with his problems (aspergers) now, which means i actually have a 'life' now

the only downer is our escalating volcanic problems..

Glad to see that most of us haven't lapsed into a coma and I hope all of you had a day as great as mine.

Mama, your kitty in the oven was hilarious. Took the turkey to the vet. I chuckle every time I think of it!

Bet the girls had a great time today.

TB, it sounds like wonderful weather you're having. It was really nice here today too. Take care with your sickness though. Those warm weather things we catch can be the worst.

So, I hope someone fixed you something good to eat and babied you a little. Bad enough to not be well, but then feel so bad when it's "expected" for you to be all smiles and sociable. Ugh.

OG, I bet you made a very special meal and it must have been so cozy. I thought of you when I was lighting a fire last night when it was chilly. There are young people who are going to have a much brighter future because of your love and caring. Hoping you know that and realize how valuable you are. Kinda wish I was a little mouse running round your house enjoying things. On second thought, you'd make short work of me. LOL.

TG, sorry you haven't checked in but am hoping you're reading and all is as well as can be. If you had the luxury of staying home alone, I hope you enjoyed your time with your critters as much as I did mine on this beautiful day. If you went to your sis, hope that also was fun. If you didn't have turkey, pm me. I deliver food, both cooked or fresh, whichever a person wants. 8)

Flav, it sounds like you took a big portion of the meal. With you fixing it, I know it had to have been good.

Which reminds me, was going to ask if the ham was your home grown piggy, but you mentioned once about neutering, but then later said you were looking for a companion for him. What's up with piggy?

All the critters did get a special dinner. Barn 4 leggers got apples and carrots. Chickens got many peels, shells, fruits, (scraps) haha. Barn kitties got bits of turkey with gravy over their cat food. Dogs got turkey and a little sweet potato. Dudely got turkey, sweet potato, grapes, pumpkin bars (with no frosting) ah heck, not naming his menu. Some of everything for him. LOL.

DW, it's nice you dropped in to see us. Hope your day was filled with good food and love.

Tauranga, hope your day was also good and hope you're being careful and staying safe.

It's so good to hear you have support with your son. Any child can suck your energy, but special needs kids can really take it out of you. Thankfully, they're all worth it, but sometimes it's hard to remember that.

I have a friend who's grandson has Aspergers and when he visits, she says it doesn't take any variety for groceries. He only eats like 3 things. Over and over. 3 times a day, and if he wants a snack, it has to be one of those 3 things. I forget what they were, but one was hot dogs. Darn, wish I could remember the other two. It's interesting to say the least.

She has a lot of fun with him, but realizes that it must not be quite as fun for the parents.

Everyone sleep nice and cozy and no cheating on the middle of the night desserts. 8)

It's wonderful that he eats good food, and plenty of it. Kids need good food. It sounds like you've done a good job with him.

One of the great thing about kids is that when we try to teach them something, or when we watch or listen, we usually end up learning more than we teach.

Hugs right back to you.

hugssshiya, sis.hi

well, kitten goop is evaporated milk...let me get the receipe...

from... [link to cats.about.com]

Some recipes call for canned goats milk; if you have it readily available it's fine, otherwise canned ¹evaporated cows' milk works well. The recipe sets up to a gelatin-like consistency in the refrigerator, and can be stored there for up to two weeks. It can also be frozen in an ice tray for convenience in serving. To serve, warm to room temperature. Do not pour back unused portions into the mix.

•12oz of water
•1 envelope Knox Gelatin
•1 12oz can of whole evaporated milk (not skim)
•2 tablespoons mayonnaise
•2 tablespoons plain yogurt, not nonfat
Boil the water, add the gelatin - stir well. Add the following ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition:

•1/2 of the canned milk
•mayonnaise and yogurt
•the rest of the milk

i did make some of this and i did put it in ice cube trays. i'll get some pictures or video tomorrow when i'm feeding them. it's dark as the third ring of hell already.

it snowed today.freeze it's 34F/1C right now. chilly.

how is everyone at your home? all fine i hope. i watched a video by an unmentionable person on utb and the number of eg's is terrifing. what is going on?

hope your day is going well.quakeshake

oh ok, i have never heard of evaporated milk for cats, is it for kitten's who dont have a mother, or just extra nutrition for any kittens?

we are all good here, its a lovely day today, its 1.13pm and i am about to make banana pancakes for late lunch, i just add heaps of mashed banana to the pancake mixture and its super yummy

the other thing i do different with pancakes is i use up to a dozen eggs in a big mixture, and also baking powder and i make huge big fat pancakes, often one is enough to fill a person

did you read all the threads about all bans and ban words now allowed..i wonder what that is all about??

Glad everyone had a nice thanksgiving.

Pinky was not part of dinner, I think my neigbors would butcher me if I butchered him.

They all love him, he gets fed carrots and bananas when they pass by on the horses. He jumps on the fence and kisses the horses. They have nicknamed him Arnold. He got the turkey carcas on friday and he was in heaven. We are going to try to find pinky a girlfriend this weekend at the farm market. He is lonely and horny I think, he is getting a little to playful with everyone. Hes about 160 lbs now and still cute to me.

I have to get my butt in gear and do some Christmas shopping this week or next. I think I am going with lots of gift cards this year, just not in the mood to shop these days.

Re: >>>>Sustainable Living PLUS Canning and Dehydrating Food<<<<
Glad everyone had a nice thanksgiving.

Pinky was not part of dinner, I think my neigbors would butcher me if I butchered him.

They all love him, he gets fed carrots and bananas when they pass by on the horses. He jumps on the fence and kisses the horses. They have nicknamed him Arnold. He got the turkey carcas on friday and he was in heaven. We are going to try to find pinky a girlfriend this weekend at the farm market. He is lonely and horny I think, he is getting a little to playful with everyone. Hes about 160 lbs now and still cute to me.

That is too funny Flava! Sounds like Arnold is smiling because he knows hes has been saved from the dinner platter so far!!!
He will be smiling even more if you get him a girlfriend!
I bet visiting him is the highlight when those people are on their ride! Horses too!
Thank you sharing that story!
