Texan Buckeye User ID: 1533753 United States 12/01/2012 01:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fair warning - I am going to rant...that being said here goes. I just found out my son in law is being deployed AGAIN. Ship out date is sometime in January. This time is to Guam, and again it is for him only. The Air Force has not said how long he will be gone. He just got back from Korea in July, and my daughter is just now finishing the unpacking from her move to Missouri. He has been in the Air Force now for 4 years and has been out of the country for most of the time. They told him 2 years before the next deployment...guess they changed their mind. He has already been to Kuwait, Iraq, the Philippines, South Korea, now Guam. On the upside, perhaps my daughter can come home for an extended visit. Guess I need to find the bright side here. I just don't want to see her all alone in Missouri. Quoting: Southern OR Wow, SO. That's why hubs retired when he did. He had just come back from Afghanistan and they wanted him to go back 6 months later. Lots of people from his "shop" had NEVER been. Something is in the wind, I think. They DO change their mind often. Unfortunatly, that's military life. It's a hard one, but one that can be the most interesting, too. Maybe closer to time, he'll have a better idea of how long he'll be gone. Normally, it's on the orders, but these days it may not be. Bring her home if you can, even if it's just for awhile. Hugs to you, hon. |

She will have the best support system possible on the base, if she stays. Having a job there is good, too. People there understand what she'll be going through and will help. If she moves back with you, she won't have that. The base will "forget" where she is. That happened to me the last time. Keep your plans ready and let them know that it is on the table. It'll help. Maybe, after a couple of months, she'll be ready for a vacation with the folks. Civilians don't understand what it's like for military families, even though many try and are sympathetic. |

Couldnt find any good ones online Hi Flav, thought I better log in in case my links aren't acceptable. 8) Shame on me, because jewelweed not might grow as far as you are. It's all over the east but ends somewhere around N. Fla. It grows in woods near streams. If you want something you're entirely sure of, it's best to make it yourself, but you're not likely going to get any juice mailed to you. The small amount of juice would cost a friggen fortune to buy. Even if you could get it, it would have to be shipped refrigerated or have some type of preservation, like alcohol. You can make a good product from the dried herb as you probably know, but it takes time. 4 to 6 weeks is best. (started at the new moon and finished at the full moon is optimum). The dried herb takes about half the herb that fresh uses. If you want to do that, I've got some links for you to get the dried herb. The last etsy one looks like it might have sold, but you might want to keep the information. Anyone who wildcrafts always protects their own supply before selling, so it would be a real shock if there isn't some tucked away that you might talk a person out of, especially if they store more than needed for personal use. [link to www.wildpantry.com] [link to www.etsy.com] [link to www.etsy.com] Hope this helps. It's a bad time of year to get much that hasn't been already dried or preserved. |

I would love if you could get me some of the seeds from a plant so I could try to grow one in a moist shady area. Quoting: flavapor You're welcome Flav. I was thinking. Rare, but true. LOL. You could start seeds right now. There's not a chance of a snowball in a hot place of finding seeds here this time of year. They explode and scatter, don't stay on the plant like some. Though it's far from being an endangered plant, the seeds from the coming spring crop in this area shouldn't be harvested until late Aug. or Sept. Sooo, if you ordered some to start now, you'd have a head start and they wouldn't be starting out in the hottest part of the year. They aren't a fast germinator. Takes them a while. Probably has something to do with their name, Impatiens. People get impatient waiting for it. Anyway, if you can't find seeds under Jewelweed, it's also known as touch me not, spotted touch me not, orange touch me not, and spotted jewelweed. As long as you have the right name, Impatiens capensis, you've got the right seed. There are many Impatiens, but you want the Impatiens capensis. Just thought I'd toss that out there for you to ponder. |
