Op, I am certain that the millions of people without power and those who suffered tornado and flooding damage would beg to differ with you. Simply because Irene’s winds will not be extreme does not mean that the damage will not be extreme and crippling.

Yeah nobody cared about them...and nobody cares about you. Fema...this is good practice for everyone. Bottom line is that money will be stolen for emergency preparations and sent overseas. Taking money from the poor on complete bs. Sure some folks have cause to worry in some areas i am not disputing that. But this is a stealing event. Every emergency money is stolen. There is no accountability. Everybody jumps on the bandwagon. 10:30 long island a little breeze not much rain. Sure it will come but i wonder if my garbage can will get blown down the street.

Kudos to SilverPatriot - I'm 12 hours with no power, wind gusts up to 70 mph and fortunate to have our generator to keep our fridge, lamp and TV going, I live in the woods in VA and hear the trees snapping all around with one on the house. People have lost their lives, one little boy 11 years old in his home was killed by a tree that caved into his home. This is a big, bad, long and stressful storm and flooding will ruin many homes and businesses. Your turn will come dear friend.

New York also suffers from the storms and the truth be told we are geared to snow storms which is a far cry from heavy rains and even modest winds. For the moment, forgetting NYC’s antiquated sewage systems and multiple Hudson River tributary waterways creating greater flooding let us look at the rest of the state.

Once the ground becomes saturated with water the ground becomes soft and even modest winds knock down power cables and buildings and homes become flooded. Many homes with trees around the home end up with branches or trees uprooting and crashing into the homes causing damage and sometimes injury and deaths.

OP, it seems the reports are consistent with weakening and failed leadership in overreacting to computer models. However, those reporting seem like they are still very concerned yet the reports they read on the air give us the sense that it will be a weakened event. Can a hurricane stall over D.C.? Dutchsinse reported earlier today that there were distinctive HAARP signatures on radar in the D.C. area. I believe this storm is under artificial control. Everyone should pay very close attention to what it does. Hurricanes are unpredictable, regardless of computer tracks.
 Quoting: Rome Burning

Yes, I agree that it is very well possible that HAARP could be involved here. As I have always known, when a hurricane weakens in strength, and sustained winds, it's forward speed usually picks up, but this system seems to have almost stalled. They are saying this will be a 24 hour storm system. That's unusual for a hurricane.

I'm curious, was there this much discussion and preparation prior to Katrina? The news we got on this side side of the world is that no one lifted a finger before, during AND after katrina so it's strange to see all this attention for a less devastating event. Is it because Katrina hit an area of low interest to the American public?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1524101

I think there was a lot more going on there that we the public will never know about. I think it was a test for future events. A dry run sort to speak.

I agree. Lot's of rain here now in NYC, but very little wind at 11:07pm.

85mph gusts predicted tomorrow along with 8 to 12 inches of rain. This storm is a very slow mover, and will dump massive amounts of water on the city. Massive flooding.

I hate to sound paranoid but I live in a third world setting and it isn't uncommon here; the talks of martial law, deep level government corruption, human rights violations etc. The scenario you present is very similar to what goes on here. We've had our government "looting" funds allocated for natural disasters as well as relief goods. We also have very little faith in American government because they have stolen a lot of resources from our country under the guise of "financial aid" and "militry partnerships". I can understand your lack of trust.

I dont think the wind speed is up that high down south at the moment...i was expecting maybe 55 mph in the morning in ny perhaps 60... but dont know how the storm speed at 10 to 13 miles per hour would effect my calculations. i am no scientist thats for sure so its only my guess. maybe someone could shed some light on what is the actual wind speed right now.

Welcome to the New World Order, and the One World Government. The Matrix if you will. What is the Matrix? It's a control system, but not one that is computer generated like in the movie, but one that is very real never the less!

Yep.

Those of us from Louisiana KNEW this would be a dud, despite media comparisons to the hurricane of 1938. How?

THE COURSE. No way does a 'cane travel up the Florida, Carolina, and Virginia coast and then hit NY as a cat 4 as they had predicted. It would have petered out by then. The 1938 hurricane was NO COMPARISON because it had an anomalous track: After being formed on the western coast of South Africa, it had a straight NW trajectory, making a beeline for NY. It completely bypassed FL/Carolina/VA coastline, and THAT is why it was a cat 4 when it made landfall. This is all pertinent to NATURAL hurricanes so of course has no bearing on artificial manipulation of speed and course, i.e. HAARP.

Nobody thinks; they just repeat the stupid memes cranked out by the "experts" on TV.
