Op, I am certain that the millions of people without power and those who suffered tornado and flooding damage would beg to differ with you. Simply because Irene’s winds will not be extreme does not mean that the damage will not be extreme and crippling. Tornado Damages Homes in Delaware [ link to www.nbcphiladelphia.com] 2 million Virginians without power; surge prompts flooding concerns [ link to www2.timesdispatch.com] Yes I agree, and did say that Irene was still a dangerous storm. Just not as bad as the powers that be would have everyone believe. Predicting weather is an inexact science and if you look back to Hurricane Katrina, the weather reports clearly stated it would be a powerful hurricane yet few listened. When reality struck fingers pointed towards President Bush instead of the governor of Mississippi failure to take New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stance an exclaiming, “Get the hell off the Beach”. Here in Staten Island where I live, mayor Bloomberg oredered mandatory evacuations on all flood zones. That's why everyone is hunkered down at my home. Better to be safe than sorry!
