well this dud hurricane has dropped thousands of tress here in Virginia. Power is out some say 1 to 2 weeks. My county has called and said 75% of the roads in the county are blocked by trees across the road. Glad my generator works and I got plenty of gas before hand. Well i wouldn't said this is a dud..

Officials said we were supposed to have a cat 3 here in NYC which of course we didn't have. Thank God. It came in as a cat 1. In that respect, it was a dud. Not much wind at all so far, but plenty of rain.

okay, let us know when it actually GETS there, op.

It's already been here all night. Just waiting for the eye. The worst is already over. Now the back side of the storm will blow the storm surge back out to sea.

CONNECTICUT is the state getting the direct hit
1 dead already

Yes, Connecticut is on the bad side of the storm... The eastern side which adds to the effects of wind gusts by the 20mph forward storm movement.

Never underestimate the damage a large rain event can cause. Floods are often deadly.

It was just a HAARP experiment, they wanted to see if it's working. Now they know how to create an hurricane, steering it and maybe control it's intensity. It was just a test... the real shit will hit the fan later.

actually the only criticism of the OP that i would consider would be that he was too conservative with his stance. i think this was a bigger dud than he predicted.

people need to understand that a tropical storm can do considerable damage, that is not what the media told us this was going to be. when irene hit NC we could tell it was not what they were reporting, and that it would only lose strength as it moved north.

i think a lot of people will still have power today.

I did say Irene would come into NYC as a cat 1 after the weather so called experts said it would be a cat 3, and even hinted at a cat 4. I laughed!

I knew they were all full of shit because a storm that will take the track they predicted, could/would never see those types of strength.

What I mean by that is any storm that drags itself halfway over land will always loose most of it's power, but not it's rain totals.

I was correct!

I will say though, my back yard is completely flooded out. Some water in my basement, but not too bad as of now. Watching. Very little sleep last night. 1 1/2 hours.

As of 8:30am, over 400,000 without power in New York.

Also my tenant called to tell me that they have about 8 inches of water in their basement.

My basement is not too bad. Only a few small areas of water coming in, but the ground is completely saturated. My back yard is still under approx 4-5 inches of water.

Not just a dud. A test to see how many people would willingly walk into FEMA camp of their own free will. Testing the sheep. They knew this hurricane was going to fizzle out before landfall.

I agree, the media are just major FEARMONGERS who look like they're so disappointed that it wasn't major...

Re: Hurricane Irene Turns Out To Be A Real Dud In New York City! More Media Hype & Sensationalism Bullshit!
This will be my final post on this thread, and will contain my final thoughts:

Since this so called Hurricane Irene was a complete dud as all hurricanes go, I will call this storm a very bad "Tropical Storm Irene." That she was, and I will certainly give her that!

As a tropical storm, she was very, very bad, and she containd high powered winds with devastating and torrential rains.

The predicted and feared storm surge never came on the coastal areas of Staten Island. The winds that were expected with this storm never materialized sparing the island this time around of beach erosion, and loss of life.

There is now even at 3:30pm very high but dry gusts of winds coming from the backside of this storm. This is good because that will help to dry things out like water soaked lawns and anything else that would need drying from big winds.

I have to admit that I have never seen so much water from any one storm. Even willowbrook park pond overflowed it's banks overtaking many surrounding homes with water filled basements. Everything is inundated, and everything is completely saturated.

During the height of this storm, my doors in my home were rubbing and not closing properly because all were swollen from all the moisture in the air.

My basement had some water, but not as bad as I had expected. My second home I also own on Staten Island had about 8 inches of water in the basement. That is the basement I never expected to ever get any water in. Both houses did just the opposite of what should've happened.

I have not been outside yet, but watching on TV, there is massive flooding all along Hyland Blvd and many other areas on Staten Island as well.

Power lines, and even large trees and large tree limbs have fallen everywhere across the city. Many on top of cars as well.

The views on Staten Island looks like what you would see on a heavy leave falling day of autumn as the streets are filled with massive amounts of leaves.

There is also massive amounts of smaller tree branches strewn everywhere like in streets, on top of parked cars, front lawns, driveways, parking lots, back yards, and even on rooftops.

Many roads are closed, shutdown or impassable. Traffic lights are out in many areas as well, and Power is still out for many across much of NYC.

Even though this was a complete dud as a hurricane, it was certainly a very dangerous, and nasty Tropical Storm; and as a tropical storm, she will certainly be remembered as "August Tropical Storm Irene."!

end.

GLP
