DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
thats right folks , when you dream, you are actually seeing your other lives being played out.. this is the only answer to dreams that make sense, because they are so odd and out of this world, that is because THEY ARE , out of this world in fact they are out of this universe..

forget the other guy's thread about parallel universes, this is much much more interesting and logical

Now this is a very interesting and clever idea.

For the past 2 years, my dreams seems like they are altered versions of my current life.
It occurred to me, that I have been looking through a glass darkly, at my other incarnations.

yes and it makes perfect sense if you think about it.. it answers the age old question " why do i dream what i do and what do they mean " well, here ya go, this is why. nothing else people come up with about dreams make any type of sense, like all these dream meaning websites and such.

but this, makes all the sense in the world

Dreaming is the same as thinking or using your imagination, but your unconscious so your subconscious is doing the thinking. That's why everything in a dream seems so random but somehow connected.

I think this too. Because you are you, but everything else is soooo different, and yet you feel so much for the people around you, and they are total strangers, at least to your conscience self. My dreams are destructive, dark, weird...

I hope dearly that after we die we don't wander this wasteland and inequity..

You know op , i've never thought about this.

I don't know why it has never once crossed my mind.

But I believe you are right, it does make sense.

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
Boll...ocks! Dreams are the mind defragging the subconscious memory (as opposed to the conscious), cleaning up and filing/storing bits of 'files' that have not been filed properly by the brain due to the active conscious taking up processing power when awake (RAM). In order for the brain to defrag, the conscious needs to be in downtime, i.e., we are asleep and not using consciousness so the 'programme' can clean up the subconscious (Hard drive).

This is why we have recurring dreams - the brain is trying to 'conclude the story' but can't find the appropriate ending (rather like part of a file being missing and you need to find it to complete the file).

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
Last night I had one of those dreams with a backstory, in other words my dream character had a historical relationship to locations and objects stretching back into time. My dream character had unique memories of events related to the dream space; a dreamtime history.

So it does seem plausible dreams are of parallel universes but on the other hand a lot of nonsense goes on in dreams too. Really strange thing get a free pass in dreams but if the same thing happened in real life it would be way over the top.

Yes ok well think of this subconscious memory being actual events taking place in other realms. Its really mind boggling stuff. I like the way you think though. at least its outside of the box

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
There are 2 kinds of dreams that I am aware of.

Body healing dreams: This is why you need sleep each night. The subconscious repairs the body thru images. These dreams are fragmented and don't make a lot of sense, because they are just the pictures needed to instruct the body thru repairs.

Parallel reality dreams: These dreams have a storyline and make sense because they are lifelike. They may be odd, but you experience them the same way you do waking daily life, and the emotions in them affect you just as if they were experienced while awake.

(There is a 3rd kind of dream, which is evolutionary, but that's another subject.)

Of course, there could also be parallell universes, just like different operating systems installed on the same hard drive. I've often wondered about how imagination fits in with the brain as a computer analogy (cue the twighlight zone theme - we're living in a matrix) so this can be aligned with the analogy of artificial intelligence. Just like AI allows for learning/testing possibilities in machines, imagination allows for the same in our biological processor.

Consider the possibility that THIS is the dream world and the dream-state is your reality.hf

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
i think SOME dreams could well be, but most dreams just rehash and analyse the previous days events/thoughts.

not ALL dreams are.

our brains are brilliant multi taskers.

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
I have thought this for a long time. I think some things seem random and out of place because the brain can not dream of an object it has never seen. It tries to translate that image into something similar. I have had a deja vue dream where I was talking to my sister. Five years later that situation really happened but I didn't know the girl I was talking to but she had the same name as my sister.

I had a dream not too long ago where I was crossing a train track and a train came out of nowhere and hit me.. And it totally surprised me. So if I put it there..then wouldnt' I have known it was coming..and why was it such a shock when I saw it.

Re: DREAMS are merely glimpses of parallel universes
OP, sounds reasonable... Food for thought anyhow.
Some questions to you and others:

What is your opinion about the quantity of parallel universes? A few or infinite?
Ever considered a "deja vu" did happen (or happens "now"), but in a parallel universe?
What is your opinion about making choices and in that way "moving" to another universe?

Why parallel lines do not exist in elliptical geometry?

Because it's part of the definition. The Euclidean geometry is defined by five axioms of which the fifth is:
Through a point not on a given straight line, at most one line can be drawn that never meets the given line.

The elliptical geometry changes this to: Through a point not on a given straight line, *no* lines can be drawn that never meet the given line.

seems very possible to me.

what you need to do is when you are doing something predictable, normal, SUDDENLY change your mind and do something TOTALLY different.

I bet it causes havoc in the other universes.

electrons can be in two places at once, and you contain quite a few of them of them

LOL.. Well, what I mean is making a choice, let's say ehmm.. you are not happy with your job. You quit and find another job. Then you meet a co-worker who turns out to be the love of your life, you get married and have 10 kis (...).
On the other hand you dislike your job, but stay anyway, you meet the love of your life (this life and another person) in a bar, you get married and have 2 kids.
You see what I mean? Suppose those two choices/possibilities exist in seperate universes.
Yes, I know, then you would have an infinite number of universes...

the day after I was born, I had a case of the green squirts, which covered my old man's shirt in copious quantities of faecal matter

this pissed him off so much, he walked out, and was never seen again, and my mother married a millionaire consequently.

all I'm saying is, shit happens.
