I've been there once on a quick stop to stretch my legs before driving further over into OH. This was back in the early 90s and I recall a feeling of being in a place that was like the Stepford wives. No reason to think that as I had parked beside some type of park that had really pretty flowers and a brick sidewalk. I didn't stay but just a few minutes because I did have a weird feeling about the place. From what I recall it's a nice small city for driving.

Lived in central Indiana all my life and haven't heard anything negative about Richmond. Never could figure out why the Indiana Football Hall of Fame was there.

Only thing I heard is that Indiana is the baby killing capital of AMERICA!!!!

On April 6, 1968, a disastrous explosion and fire occurred in the downtown area of Richmond. Several blocks of downtown were destroyed or damaged. Forty-one persons were killed and more than one-hundred fifty injured. The explosion propelled the redevelopment of the downtown, with a four-block mall as a center of attraction. The Downtown Promenade was dedicated in 1972 and national landscapers singled it out for an award. A fifth block was added in 1978. In 2008, on the 40th anniversary, a film documentary was released. It is called 1:47 - the time of the explosion.

Rumor has it there is a secret air base located under the wishing well over on farmer toms property. Town folk been seen strange things coming out of that well for years.

Haunted Places in Richmond, Indiana

Earlham College - -BACK CAMPUS-...On Halloween night in 1857 there were 2 students who were walking in the back of campus. There is a big pipe line that goes over the creek. Rumor has it the 2 students were trying to cross the creek on the pipe line and fell off into the creek which is only about 2 foot deep. To this day on Halloween night if you go there you can see fingernail scratches on the pipe where they slipped off and hear screaming from down below.

Goshen Cemetery - Cemetery is just North of Richmond, IN on 227 N. Numerous signs of ghosts can be detected here. A lady in white stands over one of the graves, and when approached she disappears. Footsteps in the grass can be heard either following, or coming towards you. Shadows and small white lights can be seen in the woods surrounding the cemetery. The most frightening area is definitely the Northwest corner of the cemetery underneath an Oak tree. This section contains the graves of children. It's the darkest section of the cemetery, and if you stand in the path right by these graves. Something will sound like it's falling out of the tree, and will hit the ground with a thud. There is never anything there. Other oddities include a sudden temperature drop over some of the graves.

Haunted Bridge - if you drive across this bridge (is has lots of graffiti on it) once and past the house with 2 green lights out front then back to the bridge stop run around your car 3 times and yell at the house. Then wait a minute a man will chase you in a big white truck

Haunted Greenhouses - If you're on 40 going into Richmond from Centerville you turn left on 18th. Go straight. You can't miss them because they are on both sides of the road. They are right at the entrance to the state hospital. Now, looking at the state hospital, in the greenhouses on the left side (the newer looking side) there haven't been too many strange things happen. There is a creepy old house/office (btw pickup the phone and listen). Also in the bigger building with the smokestack you might hear a weird squeaky wheel noise as if someone were pushing a cart. But, the right side.... That's another story. If you find this room that has strange graffiti all over it and you listen you will definately hear some messed up stuff. YOU HAVE TO GO AT NIGHT. On that side you can hear moans, screams, all kinds of strange noises. There have also been bloody handprints in various places.

Star piano building - People say that you can hear the voices of the people buried under the building, From when there was a cemetery there.

Southern Indiana is known to house a bevy of witches and warlocks.

In fact, southern Indiana probably has the largest percentage of the general population into witchcraft of anywhere else in the U.S.

Now, Richmond, IN is on the extreme eastern side of central Indiana, but the popularity of witchcraft that southern Indiana is known for may also apply there too.

It all seemed so obvious before you mentioned that. So what's the connection between the above incident and Tom Rapers' place? This strange portal/hole thingy??

IDK. The Tom Raper connection might have been a casual way to bring up the city to see if I knew of any rumors. It was weird. It is a mystery. To add to it, I live closer to WPAFB, than Richmond. But they always brought up Richmond.
I think the alien body story could be the key.

The obvious part to me was how your (ex-)husband made you play 'the wife' role around these (probably pervy, elite types) and after your 'DING DING' comment on Tom RAPER's video, I kinda thought you was implying you was maybe a SS / MP victim and your (ex-) husband was playing the handler role

.The only thing that I can think of for Richmondtucky that may be of any interest would be Beach Grove Fema Camp. Not sure how far bg is from richmond but that's all I can.come up with for Tom Raperville.

Well, about 60 miles from there is Indianapolis, which is having some really strange fire and explosion activity - see the thread on GLP...

This is not the first time this has happen to richmond indiana this happened before back in the 1950's they have a whole street that got dedicated to window shopping after gas explosion completely destroyed it.
