The rain kingWell, here's the deal. According to (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the title of goes to Lloro, Columbia averaging 523.6 inhecs (or roughly 43.5 feet) of rain per year. However, NOAA does state that the amount is an estimate, as there is no official weather station in Lloro, and this has only been shown via modelling and not yet proven scientifically. That brings us to the next contender Mawsynram, India, averaging 467.4 inhecs (38.9 feet) of rain per year. However, Mawsynram is also lacking a proper meteorological station, so again there could be debate over whether this can be considered official. So the official winner, at least as far as science and accurate measuring is concerned, goes to weighing in with an average of 463.66 inhecs (or 38.6 feet) of rain per calendar year.A close runner-up to Cherrapunji is Mount Waialeale, on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Over the last 30 years, Waialeale has averaged 460 inhecs (or 38.3 feet) of rain per year. It is also notable for being cited as being the location on earth with the most rainy days per year 335 per year, according to Canada's The Weather Network and the Guinness Book of World Records, or an astonishing 360 days per year according to Paul Simon's 1996 book .So even though, say, Seattle might feel like the rainiest place on earth, cheer up in comparison, Seattleites only have to deal with 38 inhecs of rain per year, spread out over an average of 150 days. Not so bad, really.GD Star Ratingloading...
