Hello starrynytes,

We lived in Florida for about ten years('85-'95) and experienced the impact Hurricane Andrew had on our community, among our friends and family.
We were in West Palm Beach and after boarding up our home, we traveled as far as St. Augustine before we could find a safe place to stay.

By the time we arrived, the hurricane had already reached it's destination in Miami.
We made our way back home the same day to discover hardly any damage to our older, but sturdy home.

We lived just a few miles from the intracoastal.

With a hurricane, you are given time to prepare and decide if you want to stay or leave.
All we took with us was important papers and photos--items you will really need and items that can't be replaced.

Constant prayer and gratitude is number one on your list of priorities and helping your neighbor in need.

My husband was a subcontractor and spent much time helping others to board up their homes.

God is in control.

You, your family and Florida will be in my prayers along with the many others who are praying as well.

Thank you so very much Koffee, I really appreciate hearing about your experience here too, especially with Andrew! I will keep my thoughts with God and am also praying for everyone affected by this storm. God Bless you and God willing, I will see you on this thread later!

Prayer is good, but action speaks louder than words.

Jesus suffered the worst persecution from the “religious” groups in His day.

When you read the Bible, you will see that He was more accepted by those who were not even religious.

Jesus sat with tax collectors, prostitutes, and sinners and He accepted them and they welcomed Him.

We Christians, who are suppose to be one in faith, hope and love, set a poor example to the rest of the world when we fiercely attack each other--it destroys our witness.

Jesus said this is the litmus test: "By this shall all men(& women) know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another."

That was the very last commandment given to the disciples before His crucifixion.

In the last days there will be false teachings and false gospels, and when we see them we should challenge them.
But those of the same faith should not personally attack each other.

Correction should be spoken in truth and love--being unkind to a fellow believer not only hurts him, but it hurts the whole body.

We are all in the same race, running towards the same goal and we should help each other during that run to that same goal.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness,
with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
(Ephesians 4:1–3)

Lord Jesus,

I pray for the unity of all those who follow after You. I pray that the love of Your Holy Spirit will be shed abroad in their hearts.

Thank You, Father, for Your forgiveness of all our sins.
Thank You for always showing us Your way, which is the right way.

In Your name, Jesus, I pray. amen
