This can lead us to think that God doesn't love us or care about us and the things that we care about. Well, my friend, the exact opposite is true--NOTHING diminishes His love for us. Don't allow the enemy to feed your mind with thoughts of bitterness and resent if you feel your prayer wasn't answered the way you prayed for it to be answered--because then you will forfeit what God wanted to do in your life. Don't ever give up on prayer. "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, KJV) We have the privilege of prayer but we don't have the right to tell God how to answer--that's His job--and He will answer it according to His will . Our job is to pray and praise. So let us give praise to our Lord! 8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. 9 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. 10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. 12 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24 "This man really is the Savior of the world!" John 4:42 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1:7 |

HE is refining us 'through the fire'.... and it can be more than rough..... but that is how HE gets the impurities out so we can be the spotless and blameless bride of Christ .... we won't be perfect till heaven.... ' He went to be with our Lord six year's ago. He loved Jesus but he struggled with his addictions. Before our marriage, I was living at home with my parents and he was my neighbor--2 houses down. I was a Christian and he wasn't. My dad told me, as he knew him from conversations they would have in the little variety store across the street from us. My dad liked him, maybe because he had a drinking problem, like my dad. They didn't drink all the time, but when they did--they drank a lot and became destructive. I would see him in the store too, we'd say a quick hello to each other and that was about it. Seeing the background I came from, I really didn't want to get involved with someone who had a drinking problem--he was cute, though. About 4 years go by and one day my dad comes home and says, "guess who became a Christian?". Well, we started talking more--things about God and his new birth. One thing led to another and we fell in love and got married. First six years of our marriage was wonderful with your typical up and downs--and no drinking. He did have pancreatic attacks and I noticed his pain-killers were becoming a problem. We lived in Florida at the time. My sister and brother-in-law were coming to visit and had to be picked up at the airport. Well, while he was waiting there, I don't know how it happened, but he decided to have a drink. I get a knock at my door and there is my sister and brother-in-law holding up a very drunk husband of mine. I had never seen him drunk. That was just the beginning of a continual downhill spiral for him. As I mentioned above, he had chronic pancreatitis--since he was 14. Our first year of marriage he had a major operation on his pancreas--removal of 3 pseudo-cysts. I remember the "stately" doctor we had then, he pulled me aside one day at the hospital and told me that even though my husband looked fine on the outside, he had many problems on the inside and things would get progressively worse. Isn't that just what I wanted to hear. You know what? He was right. The next 14 years of our life together was consumed with health problems and addictions. Frequent pancreatic attacks, barrett's esophagus, chronic hepatitis b, diabetes, pain-killer addiction and drinking, plus he smoked ( and not only cigarettes). He would try to improve himself, and in between the bad times, things were good. He just had a lot of pain that he had to live with daily, and it was hard for him. Yes, we were both Christians, young Christians who still had a lot to learn. We had become more involved in family life as we had 2 beautiful sons. In dad's bad days, I would always try to shield them from seeing him that way, I didn't want them to have the same memories I had. There is a lot more to this story, but enough has been said. My husband, as many of us, had problems. Each one of us--we are still human--continue to live in this body of sin. We battle the flesh all day long. In time, we learn that if we choose to put our eyes on Jesus and make Him the object of our affection, the struggle becomes easier. We say yes to the Holy Spirit and He takes over. We want to let go, we say we will let go, but we don't. Overtime, we learn that God has never LET GO! Our love grows deeper for Him and what we say we believe truly becomes belief. We finally learn and believe that we ARE truly forgiven. God is so Good!!! Praise His Holy Name Forever and Forever More! Love to you, in His Name However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Quoting: AmazingGRACE Hope you have had a blessed day! It has been a challenging one for me! However, I will praise HIS HOLY NAME no matter what is thrown at me! HE is my ROCK! HE is my SALVATION! HE is my REFUGE! HE is my STRENGTH! HE is my PROVIDER! HE is my DELIVERER! Hello AG! I hope things are O.K.--that the challenges weren't too severe. God will never give us more than we can handle. I remember trying times with my husband when he was here. Taking care of him during his illness, having to be the one who brought home the money, making supper, watching the kids, constantly going back and forth from the doctor's to the hospital, never having a moment to myself--yes, I remember those trying times and I would not seek the Lord for strength and would cry out "I've had enough". God continues to lovingly keep us in His care, to shape and mold us through the trials and trying times. So, you are wise to keep your eyes on Him--sing songs to Him, Praise His Holy name--and then be still, ask the Holy Spirit to help in your worship and listen... May the Love of God be shed abroad in your heart, my sister in Christ. thanks for your encouragment....how long ago was your husband sick....did he pass away?? I'm so sorry for the 'fires' you have had to go through.... Love to you, in His Name You are NOT alone my friend! Thank you for sharing your story My ex husband suffered from mental illness. We weren't evenly yolked and although I tried to make it work, couldn't. I was also abused prior to my marriage in a 10 year relationship as the victim of a drug user. My story is long and hard but I just wanted you to know that God has blessed you in so many ways and He has blessed me in brining you into my *virtual* life here on GLP. Your story has touched me and inspired me as I now face some difficult times related to a serious work injury. it has given me the strength and courage I needed today! God is using you to witness to others and bring others what they need! I always say that when you don't know what to ask for specifically in prayer just ask God to give you what only He knows you need and today this was what I needed. God bless you my friend and thank you again "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13 "I shall call upon the name of the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies" Psalm 18:2-4 "In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." Psalm 62:6-8 "He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:30 |
