Re: disabled and abondoned as a child contestant wows x factor judges.
SINGER Emmanuel Kelly is dreaming of a recording career after his moving rendition of a classic peace anthem reduced tough X Factor judges to tears.
Emmanual Kelly, who has survived chemical warfare and is the brother of previously conjoined Bangladeshi twins Krishna and Trishna, wowed Ronan Keating, Spice Girl Mel Brown, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Guy Sebastian, with his heartfelt performance of John Lennon's Imagine on last night's audition show.

Kelly and his brother Ahmed were adopted from Iraq, both suffering limb deficiencies as a result of chemical warfare. They were abandoned at an orphanage and rescued by Children First Foundation boss Moira Kelly."When I got up and started singing there was nothing else, adrenalin just took over, it was just a blur," Kelly said. "I just want to sing and I want to make people happy."

An emotional Keating was full of praise for Kelly who has progressed to the next round of the competition.

"I don't think I have ever, ever been moved as much as I was by that performance," he said.

Kelly auditioned for Australia's Got Talent last year but did not make it on to the show.

I watched this before I left for work and could not get it out of my mind.
Rewatched it when I got to work, big mistake, could not stop the tears.

Not only is he a beautiful person, but he sings with so much heart.

Bump for the morning crew to view.

It makes all my troubles seem so small when I hear stories like this.

There are many who's stories touch the heart, Emmanuel's touched mine in a profound way.

Well they sure didn't make up his lack of arms or his crippled gait.
His mom is a well known advocate for children, his story documented, so I highly doubt his story is made up.

Go Mom…
She’s a hero to us all, as her positive move has changed our timeline for the better.
She stepped in and took upon her shoulders what certainly was a difficult role, but due to her giving instead of taking, she has received something wonderful; as there can be no value placed on true love.
Now if we all where to move for the greater good; imagine….

I feel for the guy, I really do and his story is inspirational.

However, his voice is average and I hope he isn't judged based on his disability/back story as that would just be patronising.

[Cried and cried!! Inspirational to say the least. If he was on THE VOICE he would not make the judges turn their chairs around for him. Singing was amateurish, weak and just average. That is why THE VOICE is a blind audition.whatever

Besides being talented, the boy is a freaking fox!!

He was scared to death performing to that huge crowd. You can always tell when a good singer is scared because they tend to go flat on the higher notes. This is caused by tensed up muscles. He's good. He's really good.

I need to go find another box of Kleenex, now.

Thank you for this beautiful reminder that beautiful people are born everywhere and they grow up to shine that beauty if they are given enough love, support and encouragement. Environment does affect a child's perspective of life and the world we live in. How we see others is a direct reflection of what we are taught at home.

Wow!

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 475310

It is patronizing, but people don't realize they're doing it. They feel sorry for him because of the sob story (I guess it's true in this case, but that doesn't matter), and then they feel good about themselves for having so much empathy.

This smugness then affects their judgement, turning a pretty average performance into "OMG, it's the most profound thing I ever heard! It makes me feeeeel so much!".

Yup, you feeeel Self Love, and it's not the enlightened kind either. Your Ego loves to see itself as being GOOD, caring for the disabled and whatnot.

Nothing wrong with caring, but it's disgusting to see it exploited like this by the TV channel. It's not the guy's fault, he just loves to sing, but the fact is he's getting showered with attention and fake appreciation because of his handicap. I'd hate to be him for this reason alone, perhaps even more than I'd hate being crippled.

Empathy needs to be reflected in ones everyday behavior instead..I agree..

How many people pretend to ooh and ahhh and cry for a stranger then go home and beat their wife or get an abortion or abandon family during a inheritance dispute. People are such hypocrites.

..Id rather see average people without talent change their life around thru their behaviors...that is award worthy it itself.
