Sorry the link didn't 'take'. But a copy and paste will get you there. :-)

This could be interesting if the political powers aren't there doing their thing of downplaying the situation.

The submarine volcano has returned to La Restinga morning drive to smoking pirclastos sea surface, as confirmed by sources on a daily face IRON. There are many residents who have contacted this newspaper to inform us that plumes observed in sea surface product of the expulsion of this material.

how curious. have the politicians been interfering? if not, why would they be agreeable to this? this is politicians we are talking about
 Quoting: sarah!

Yes, some people believe the politicians are trying to downplay all of this because they depend so much on the tourist industry in the Canary Islands. I don't know if it is true or not but it does appear it may be true.

Update 04/11 – 12:24 UTC :
Joke Volta webcam report :
- Good webcam news from El Golfo. Mr. Atilano living in Frontera will direct his webcam to El Golfo this afternoon. Mr. Atilano is a geologist and has also a seat in the El Hierro council. He is monitoring closely the deformation and gases of the Taganasoga mountain / hill, as many are seeing this area as a weak point on the island.

Somebody needs to find the link for the webcam...I am watching for it.

In all seriousness...that is strange. I print keyed it to get a lasting photo of it. I'm VERY curious as to why it's displayed that number...and it says it was felt widely.

Update 04/11 – 13:55 UTC :
Scientists of IGN who could overfly the area this morning are now convinced that they have lined up the different eruptive submarine vents. It looks more and more that Las Calmas sea eruptions are fissure like vents opening up at different places.

are these figures input by humans, or generated by a computer?

Computer I would guess, The MMI is the shaking effect above ground. Not sure of the magnitude of that one must of been big though.

Ye Gods!!! This information made me feel sick
 Quoting: SheBear

This is an interesting footnote, and worthy of a new thread too.

I remember when I suggested to my college professor in the 70's of the possibility of nuclear waste disposal at sea, and he just about freaked out. I now agree that he was correct.

There ARE in fact ways to deal with nuclear waste safely, ways which the nuclear industry choose to completely ignore.

1)Highly radioactive materials can be reduced in radiation by passing then through a series of special reactors which essentially "burn" their radioactivity out over a relatively short period of time (and produce energy at the same time). India currently practices this program.

2) Once radiation levels are sufficiently low, the hot materials can be diluted and mixed with large quantities of concrete, and deposited in mines, of equal or lower radiation levels than when it was mined in the first place.

I don't know in this case, but burial at sea could be a problem even if the material is dispersed in concrete.

However since Fuku has now polluted the worlds oceans probably a million times over what these barrels have the potential of doing, I doubt that the world nuclear community will care any longer, and possibly begin to dispose of far more radioactive material on the sea-bed.

Humans in general are not responsible enough to be playing around with nuclear materials on this planet.

Could hope for extraterrestrials to solve the problem, but most surely I will be dead before seeing anything like that.

It's a footnote.

There is no threat more serious to the planet than just a few of any of the thousands of nuclear plants on the planet, which could melt-through and throw hot-particles into the atmosphere if they run into any serious problems... like tsunamis, or just simple power outages and lack of diesel fuel.

This hazard is multiplied because people are not killed by hot-particles until years after exposure, and they are not detected by dosimeters.

Both these geological and radiation hazards are a very real concern. However they take a long time to play-out. It is not like watching a half-hour television show and then moving on to something else.

GLP is a great forum for these things in terms of topics and interests, but its daily short-term "pinned" format does not fit the realities very well.

If there's new activity in the vicinity of the last activity, doesn't that mean all these earthquakes are just related to that?
What part of the information tells you there's more to come?
Perhaps there will be several more 'farts' at La Restinga area, and then it will calm down?
Just curious...

After 11,000+ quakes...there's just no way to confirm that anything is an aftershock or what not. They seem to be completely independent AND seem to all be foreshocks of some kind since there is an imminent end to all of this where a big one will occur either in the form a large plate slide or a volcanic eruption that causes the quakes to die down.
