I don't know if it is true or not but it does appear it may be true. |

Mr. Atilano living in Frontera will direct his webcam to El Golfo this afternoon. Mr. Atilano is a geologist and has also a seat in the El Hierro council. He is monitoring closely the deformation and gases of the Taganasoga mountain / hill, as many are seeing this area as a weak point on the island. Somebody needs to find the link for the webcam...I am watching for it. Open mind required ! I am in SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO, CANADA |

Computer I would guess, The MMI is the shaking effect above ground. Not sure of the magnitude of that one must of been big though. |

ehecatl User ID: 4617326 Mexico 11/04/2011 10:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is an interesting footnote, and worthy of a new thread too. I remember when I suggested to my college professor in the 70's of the possibility of nuclear waste disposal at sea, and he just about freaked out. I now agree that he was correct. There ARE in fact ways to deal with nuclear waste safely, ways which the nuclear industry choose to completely ignore. 1)Highly radioactive materials can be reduced in radiation by passing then through a series of special reactors which essentially "burn" their radioactivity out over a relatively short period of time (and produce energy at the same time). India currently practices this program. 2) Once radiation levels are sufficiently low, the hot materials can be diluted and mixed with large quantities of concrete, and deposited in mines, of equal or lower radiation levels than when it was mined in the first place. I don't know in this case, but burial at sea could be a problem even if the material is dispersed in concrete. However since Fuku has now polluted the worlds oceans probably a million times over what these barrels have the potential of doing, I doubt that the world nuclear community will care any longer, and possibly begin to dispose of far more radioactive material on the sea-bed. Humans in general are not responsible enough to be playing around with nuclear materials on this planet. Could hope for extraterrestrials to solve the problem, but most surely I will be dead before seeing anything like that. It's a footnote. There is no threat more serious to the planet than just a few of any of the thousands of nuclear plants on the planet, which could melt-through and throw hot-particles into the atmosphere if they run into any serious problems... like tsunamis, or just simple power outages and lack of diesel fuel. This hazard is multiplied because people are not killed by hot-particles until years after exposure, and they are not detected by dosimeters. Both these geological and radiation hazards are a very real concern. However they take a long time to play-out. It is not like watching a half-hour television show and then moving on to something else. GLP is a great forum for these things in terms of topics and interests, but its daily short-term "pinned" format does not fit the realities very well. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1792728 What part of the information tells you there's more to come? Perhaps there will be several more 'farts' at La Restinga area, and then it will calm down? Just curious... After 11,000+ quakes...there's just no way to confirm that anything is an aftershock or what not. They seem to be completely independent AND seem to all be foreshocks of some kind since there is an imminent end to all of this where a big one will occur either in the form a large plate slide or a volcanic eruption that causes the quakes to die down. |
