| Shephardi User ID: 1546697 09/12/2011 02:27 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Computer modelling indicates that the resulting initial wave may attain a local amplitude (height) in excess of 600 metres (1,969 ft) and an initial peak to peak height that approximates to 2 kilometres (1 mi), and travel at about 1,000 kilometres per hour (621 mph) (approximately the speed of a jet aircraft), inundating the African coast in about 1 hour, the southern coast of England in about 3.5 hours, and the eastern seaboard of North America in about 6 hours, by which time the initial wave would have subsided into a succession of smaller ones each about 30 metres (98 ft) to 60 metres (197 ft) high. These may surge to several hundred metres in height and be several kilometres apart but retaining their original speed." Does not give people much time to get to high ground, especially if it happens in the middle of the night. But hey, no point staying awake. We will pass through the Seven Years or serve God's Will as martyrs. |

Now...you will see that they drew their information from the original meeting of the scientific and government communities. They're posting and detailing what the plan is and why the plan has been made. You will also see that the article I linked to describes something completely different than what the news station describes. [link to standeyo.com] "Pevolca The Scientific Committee, met this morning at the request of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Security of the Canary Islands Government, decided to relocate the population of El Hierro directly, the most important conclusions from information gathered by seismic and volcanic National Geographic Institute (IGN) and the Institute of the Canary Islands volcanological (non-tip) on the earthquakes recorded on the island since last July." |

But anyways just read the sentence in english cant you see it doesnt make sense the way its translated? Its not so difficult to see. Aside from that all the article says there is absolute nothing to fear, in fact they will "pass on" all the conclusions to the citizens of El Hierro: " Los expertos encargados de estudiar los movimientos sísmicos registrados desde el pasado 19 de julio revelan que no existen razones para preocuparse, ya que no constituyen un riesgo para la población, que podrá acceder a las principales conclusiones de los estudios realizados durante todo este tiempo." You wont find anything in the news because there is nothing to report about. Thats my last comment, it a waste of time with some of you guys... Judgement is coming.. |

So...put this into your brain Spain. This is what follows the article. See if this makes sense with relocating the population or with informing them that there's been earthquakes? [link to standeyo.com] "...The spokesperson continues to assume given the green light situation in pre-alert, of peace for the population." What do you need a pre-alert for if you're just communicating? I can see why you would need a pre-alert for relocating/evacuating the citizens of an entire island though, can't you? "The pre-alert state is triggered..." Obviously there's an event to follow a "pre-alert" state. You don't "pre-alert" somebody when you give them information. |

Quoting: goodmockingbird I have read the original article in the original language, and what it says does not indicate anything about any sort of evacuation. It talks about studies, and it talks about passing information on to the population. The word for "passing on information" was mistranslated as "evacuating" The English language article is a BAD translation of the original Spanish, just like our correspondent in Spain has been saying over and over again. ![]() Judgement is coming.. |
