I will think about the new thread. You guys have done a great job in my absence. Hierro is a time bomb, as is the entire archipelago. I think we're probably fortunate that Hierro has been the target of all this acivity instead of one of the most unstable islands like La Palma. Hierro has shown her strength.

Are these larger magnitude earthquakes than the swarming in sept 2011? 2 and 3 magnitude is rather large to me.

You see why I suggested making a new thread...This renewed activity is going to lead to something bigger me thinks...I know, I know, we have been saying this many times but there only so much magma that can fit under that Island...Somethings got to give at some point....

There is talk about this being the 4th injection of magma under the Island, apparently their wasn't enough pressure for it to erupt last time...

Now that we have a fresh injection of magma underneath the old one, we could get a build up....

I suggest people to follow this thread and the following blog to keep themselves updated on the latest situation...Unless AT fancies doing a new thread....iwish

OP, type 'Slope stability in the Canary volcanoes based on geotechnical criteria' into Google and click 'quick view' on the first link shown.

those quakes at Tenerife take on more significance too.

this entire area is a timebomb

type 'Slope stability in the Canary volcanoes based on geotechnical criteria' into Google and click 'quick view' on the first link shown.

there are THREE threats in the Canaries. La Palma, El Hierro, and Tenerife

volcanic activity under any of them CAN induce a catastrophic slide, and there is activity under or close to two of them at the moment, Tenerife and El Hierro

btw, that link you posted is NOTHING but a hit piece. yes, it's good to see all sides of an argument, but choosing one side over another is silly.

i'm undecided about the ocean basin mega tsunami potential of a slide, but one thing's for certain, it'll be devastating locally, and that in itself would be very VERY bad!

You have not looked at every side. Whenever anyone disagrees with the tsunami theory they are jumped on, whenever anyone disagrees with you they are either banned from your thread or jumped on for having a differing opinion, I have even seen you rant at someone for questioning you even when they showed you evidence from Geologists to back up their side of the argument, I also witnessed you telling a poster you reported them to the Mods because they questioned you. Of course those posts are now gone because you deleted them before changing your username.

I agree with the above poster, this is a very biased thread and you ARE pushing a doomy agenda.

This...at 79km deep is what will wake this monster.

Something serious is brewing people.

this entire area is a timebomb

This is very suggestive! as if this is very likely to happen while it is just a theory.
And a large part of the thread is about possible landslides. Again POSSIBLE but in reality the chance that it doesn´t happen is far more likely.
Last time I expressed this opinion I got banned. I live at La Palma, nearer then anyone here and just because of another opinion in this you don´t let me enrich this thread.
I hope it is different this time.

Could you please explain why then the other islands are showing release of energy.

As an example look at this graph of Fuerteventura yesterday and as it was Sunday you cannot blame it on roadworks as you live on La Palma you will know then that Sunday is a day of rest.

Look at the red line on the second link.

INFACT, fyi, AVCAN did NOT say that Idgits was wrong about there being a connection between Iceland and the Canary Islands...

The said page with conversations you are looking are on page 263...

On that page, there is a link to a screenshot of the conversation with AVCAN by 2 members of AVCAN that states more studies & research is needed..they say they can't say if it is true or not until they have the data that proves if there is a connection or not...Like I said, They don't say that Idgits is WRONG...

I can't link to the screenshot as the site hosting the image has recently been banned from GLP, the link however is still there on page 263, check it out yourself...

Before sprouting your mouth out, I suggest you go through the thread first and get your facts right before saying things that are simply NOT true..

The proof is on page 263, a tiny*pic link, go see for yourself...If you still want to believe that your right that Avcan said that Idgits was wrong, prove it to me....but you won't be able to as they didn't say that...

Re: Best El Hierro Thread On GLP - Canary Islands - ACTIVITY HAS RETURNED - AGAIN!

You are truly crazy. You know that? Either you're crazy, or you're just a liar. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here and I'll just call you crazy.

Oh, I'm crazy?

Which part is a lie ?
Anyone who religiously follows this thread knows what I said IS the truth.
I will have a look through the thread tomorrow when I get a chance and quote what I can to prove I am right, if you haven't deleted it all ... even the picture of the conversation between the person you belittled and AVCAN who said that you were wrong ( Canaries affecting Iceland ... remember ? ).

Don't call me a liar you hypocrite.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24260393

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24354927

Also, the person you say that Idgits apparently belittled actually apologized after the screenshot of the conversation was posted...

So, you have no basis in arguing with Idgit's/AT about the connection subject...

I personally think you are a shill who is just trying to cause disruption and this time, it hasn't worked.....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24354927

Your reading comprehension is awful.

AVCAN said, and I quote "It would be too risky to pretend such connections without proper data"
I would say that disagrees with what Idgits said.

Also I said you probably wouldn't find many posts of his as he deleted them.

Here is one of his outbursts to someones question.
...

Do you have reference to back up that claim?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18124769

LoL there's 261 pages of raw science here friend. Mostly amatuer, some professional.
 Quoting: Idgits

There is NO professional input here at all.

I'll ask again, do you have reference to your claim?

Any reliable link will do, ty.

Please take your idiotic, ignorant, foolish stupidity out of here. We have no room for self centered, bull shit slingers like you in here. We've been visited by many professionals in the 9 months or so that this thread has been active. Like I said...there have been many claims, proofs, evidences offered, etc., about this subject in these pages. If you're not willing to comb over it and look for it, then you're just as spoiled as you are incompetent.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15368686

Now, before you go spouting your mouth off perhaps knowing the full conversation would aid you, but you don't because most of it apart from where he apologised has been deleted !! I read it all, he is a liar and a foul mouthed person when someone questions him.
