The home owner or the power companies? Quoting: JUSTSURVIVEBABY Homeowners, and I sent this out to ping back with 2 electricians who are pissed about 'smart meters'. I think they may be ditched in BC anyhow but...If they come onto my property to rip foil from a meter they are going to get bit. Plant or Perish |

And as we all know estimated bills are based on your highest consumption month over the previous year. Have they started with the time of use pricing yet? They have here and it sucks balls. Our bill has gone up by about 30%. You are right though something has to be done and quick before they put us all in the poor house. If you cross country ski, start with a small country. |

No. They are still in the process of stealthily installing these things on unsuspecting home owners. I'm sure that that surprise will come later, unless we "FOIL" their plans now! Resist! Foil your meter! Do not let the bastards win! |

They only charge you extra during peak hours. Peak hours; Breakfast, lunch, dinner and other times you're not sleeping. They pass the "savings" onto corporate customers who will now want their slaves (you) to work twix midnight and 5 am. "Ballance this load Bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" |

They are reported to cause other adverse health effects, such as insomnia, migraines, etc. They record and report your electricity usage by the minute, so that they can sell the data to anyone who wants to know when you are home, or when you are away, or when you turn appliances off or on. Very useful for thieves of either the rouge type or the Gov't type. They save money by firing the meter readers, but don't share the savings with you. In fact most people find that their bills go up ~30%. More jobs transferred to China. This is a short summary, Google it and you will find more. |

That's why I did the test with aluminum foil. My suspicions were confirmed when they had to send somebody out to my house to rip off the aluminum foil. Its any easy test. Try it. You have nothing to lose! |

Quoting: Sky Pilot Did you even try calling them up and asking what's going on? If this thing really has 'dangers' and is an 'invasion of privacy' as you write, then you should have no problem calling them up or perhaps authorities then, right? |

Where I live here in texas, if ANYONE comes onto your property and destroys or defaces it that is criminal mischief, and you can shoot a person for it. Meter readers are notorious for stealing and spying on customers, I watch for them when I know theyre due i don't think the electric company needs to know or is entitled to know anything about my habits other than how many kilowatts of electricity I used. |
