In this essay, weŽll explore the metaphysical principles of spiritual healing. From our investigation, weŽll outline the elements which allow us to understand and work with physical and mental regeneration and harmonization, as weŽll define healing. This definition is in accord with that of Laurence J. Bendit in his book The Mysteries Today: "Healing is basically the result of putting right our wrong relationship to the body, to other people and to our own complicated minds, with their emotions and instincts at war with one another and not properly understood by what we call I or me. The process is one of re-organisation, reintegration of things which have come apart." By defining healing as regeneration and harmonization, we conceive of illness as a malfunctioning within our body or our mind (both the conscious and unconscious aspects). As in all my essays, IŽll suggest ways in which you can go beyond merely studying and theorizing about spiritual healing to actually learning to participate in it.
WeŽll examine a number of different sources of information concerning this spiritual process. As with all such investigations, we find certain thinkers who provide exceptional insights into spiritual healing, yet discover that we cannot agree with all aspects of their thinking.
