~~FYI~~ States it is ILLEGAL to film police in
The Freeman has an interesting look into various states’ efforts to make illegal the recording of police activity. In Illinois, Massachusetts, and Maryland, wiretapping and eavesdropping laws have been used to prosecute individuals who have recorded police activity in a public location.

In one example case, motorcyclist Anthony John Graber III was stopped for reckless driving. A plain-clothes police officer stopped him, jumped out of his car waving a gun and screaming, and issued a ticket. Graber had a video camera mounted in his motorcycle helmet; he posted video of the encounter to youtube. Ten days after the police encounter, after police found the video on youtube, Graber was arrested and charged under felony wiretapping laws, which could result in up to 5 years jail time

I was driving to work this am, and saw a motorist filming a stopped car in Maryland. Just thought I'd look it up on line. I thought it was PERFECTLY LEGAL to film the police in public. Well, it's NOT legal in my state. It's a freekin FELONY!

There are 12 states in total that enforce an all-party-consent law, but only three interpret it to include public places of gathering with absolutely no expectation of privacy. So on one hand, that kind of sucks for people trying to record police misconduct, but on the other, hey, apparently security cameras are now illegal in parts of the Northeast! Looting party next week!

That's what I thought too. I wanted to double check, but cannot find where these 3 states were included or exempt.

I'd really like to know though..

So why doesn't the GOOD news get a pin?

A federal appeals court just ruled that all these state "laws" against videoing the police are INVALID.

I had no idea anything was pinned a cpl days ago. This was just a random search I did after seeing a motorist filming this morning. It's not THAT big of a deal.

I just had no idea that it was even deemed illegal in ANY state.

I was watching them closley, because I was on the other side of the road. I was wondering what the officer would do when I saw another car pull up and start filming.

The cop did nothing. Ignored the filmer and did not interact at all.

I did not get to see the whole incident but just figured I'd google and see what the deal was with Maryland.

well most of them are self concious about being filmed because they don't fit into their uniforms anymore and they have gotten fat off donuts since their days in the police academy. maybe they should start a piggy weight loss farm for the lot of them.

So I guess that means that any MSM can not show anyone getting pulled over, getting cuffed or any accident scene on the news. Is it a felony if they film it for the news at 6 and 11? Hmmmm, seems there is a double standard.

This also posted the other day too, hope Michael Alison has support.I mean to say, he must be pushing his big ball about in a friken wheelbarrow, I am The other side of the world and thank Michael for his stance. We need more Michaels.

For the crime of recording police during a citation and taking a tape recorder into the courtroom, 41-year old mechanic Michael Allison faces a life sentence in prison. The state of Illinois has charged Allison with five counts of wiretapping, each punishable by four to 15 years in prison.

It just dawned on me that police cars with cameras would also be subject to wire tapping laws, wouldn't they?

Regarding the MSM, I guess they break in to my favorite show to cover those high speed car chases anymore. And, what about shows like "Deadliest Car Chases" or some such? I guess those would be illegal too, huh?
